Trip to Korea special(The War Memorial of Korea museum)
The War Memorial of Korea is located in Yongsan-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It opened in 1994 on the former site of the army headquarters to exhibit and memorialize the military history of Korea. It was built for the purpose of preventing war through lessons from the Korean War and for the hoped for peaceful reunification of North and South Korea. The memorial building has six indoor exhibition rooms and an outdoor exhibition centre displaying war memorabilia and military equipment from China,South Korea and United States
History
The War Memorial was built to commemorate actors and victims in the wars which led to the modern nation state. The museum also has the purpose of educating future generations by collecting, preserving, and exhibiting various historical relics and records related to the many wars fought in the country from a South Korean
Surrounding area
Located on the old site of Army Headquarters, the War Memorial of Korea has four aboveground floors and two underground floors in the main building, which stands on an area of about 20,000 m2 (220,000 sq ft). On the grounds around the memorial, there are loudspeakers that broadcast patriotic messages.
In cloistered left and right galleries, flanking the facade of the main building, are rows of black marble monuments inscribed with the names of those who died during the Korean War, Vietnam War, clashes with North Korea since the Korean War and of policemen who died on duty. The plaza in the museum compound has an artificial waterfall, and around it are widespread rest areas so that visitors can picnic while enjoying the pleasant landscape. In the center of the plaza stands the Statue of Brothers, the elder a South Korean soldier and the younger a North Korean soldier, which symbolizes the situation of Korea's division.

Korean MONASTERY FOOD 25+ Items! + Korean War Museum Tour | Seoul, South Korea
My second full day in Seoul, South Korea continued as my group and I took a trip to the Korean War Memorial Museum and then went to go have some Buddhist temple food for dinner! Come along with me as my friends and I continue to explore the city of Seoul!
FEATURED TRAVELERS:
Sam:
Jorden:
I love war memorial museums. They’re fascinating to visit. This museum is all about the commemorating the lives lost during the Korean War, which took place from 1950 to 1954. The museum opened in 1994 and aims to teach lessons that prevent war and hopes to lead to the reunification of North and South Korea.
The hall Sam and I visited contained lots of old cars and planes, cannons, tanks, buggies, and cars from the old-school presidents. There were Soviet tanks from World War II that dated back to 1939.
On the third level is the Korean War Room, which contains a memorial to all of the countries that contributes and the people who lost their lives in the war. You can see weapons like rifles, rocket launchers, machine guns, and knives on display, and well as army uniforms from all the countries that participated in the war.
The room also tells you how many people were involved from each nation. 1.8 million soldiers came from the U.S., 36,000 of whom lost their lives. It was all very fascinating and very sad at the same time.
After our museum visit, it was time for dinner! I was loving the food in Korea, so I couldn’t wait to eat! The restaurant serves Buddhist monastic food. We started with 3 appetizers: a rice porridge with peanuts, kimchi soup, and a mystery one that looked like it contained fruit.
The was like a rice-y oatmeal! I loved it! Next was the kimchi soup, which was pretty potent and sour. The huge, cherry-like fruit burst in my mouth and was like a lychee!
Then, we moved on to 4 more dishes: a bean curd, kimchi cucumber, mung bean jelly with lotus fruit, and a green leaf. The kimchi cucumber wasn’t great, so I moved on to the mung bean jelly, which was also pretty bland. The leaves tasted like a non-ripe mango, and the bean curd had small grains in it and was like watered-down mashed potatoes. All in all, it wasn’t my favorite course.
Next, we hit the main course of six dishes: two Korean pancakes, a mushroom dumpling, tofu, vegetables, noodles, and something similar to plantains. The plantain-like dish had a delicious sweet and sour glaze on it. The noodles were cold and stuck together, with mushrooms and a creaminess I couldn’t identify. But it was tasty!
Then was some dense tofu, but it wasn’t very flavorful. The dumpling was nice and earthy. The first pancake was like a potato and onion pancake, while the second was made of lots of veggies. There were lots of herbs!
Next were bamboo with a spicy coating and a crunchy lotus. Then was a soybean paste soup, lotus leaf with sticky rice, 5 types of banchan, and spicy mushrooms. The soup had a rich broth and fermented flavor. I tried the sticky rice with the different banchan. My favorite was the spicy herb! There was also a crunchy, moist kimchi.
Then, it was dessert time! Like everything else, it was very simple and consisted of two dried kiwi slices and a red tea. The tea was more like tinted water, but I loved the dried kiwi. Not my favorite meal, but a fun experience.
Then, we headed to the temple next door! It was very colorful and was decorated with lots of lanterns for the Buddha’s birthday! Everything was lit up and we had a great view of the Golden Buddhas!
I hope you loved coming with me to the Korean War Museum and to my Buddhist monastic dinner! If you did, please give it a thumbs up, leave a comment, and subscribe so you don’t miss my upcoming videos!

Korea War Memorial. Heroic Filipino Soldiers in Korean War. Only a few knew of the sacrifice made by Filipino soldiers defending a foreign land. Once, our Filipino soldiers defended the South Korea. The war of the Koreas started in the 1950’s and like most wars, the cause was indifference in ideologies. Some historians, if not all, knew of this event but it is interesting to note that Philippines was the first Asian country to deploy army.

This vlog isn't really like any of the other videos in the series, purely because I just couldn't find the humour in it really - I felt so bad by making this into a joke that I ended up with the montage you see on screen. I know it's not my best video - but I didnt film with this kind of video in mind so I hope you understand and I hope you maybe enjoyed the korean war museum because I know I did. If you are coming through the army then welcome to my channel, and welcome to Korea, I know its a huge change for you and I'm sure you will love it!

THINGS TO DO IN SEOUL - War Memorial of Korea
Located in Yongsan-dong, the War Memorial of Korea opened in 1994 in the former site of the army headquarters as a way to remember the military history of Korea and commemorate the noble sacrifice of soldiers involved in past war efforts. Because my grandfather fought in the Korean War, I really wanted to come here. While the main museum was closed when we arrived, there’s an impressive outdoor exhibition with large machinery, artifacts and educational details in English and various languages.

SHOCKING ANTI-AMERICAN PROPAGANDA FROM NORTH KOREA
North Korean propaganda art showing US soldiers torturing women, setting dogs on cowering families and leaving helpless babies to die have emerged as tensions escalate on the Korean peninsula.
The Kim dynasty propaganda paintings depict alleged atrocities carried out by US soldiers during the 1950-1953 Korean War.
They have resurfaced after Donald Trump warned Kim Jong-un he would “totally destroy” his country if he continued to make clear threats and carry out provocative missile tests.
In one image, three GIs are portrayed torturing a weak North Korean woman by removing her teeth with pliers.
In another picture, US soldiers slice a man's head with a meat cleaver as he recoils in agony.
