On-board the 13:33 from Inverness on Wednesday 18th June 2014
It was my first trip down the route towards Kyle Of Lochalsh, so after Dingwall was completely new scenery. So for those of you who haven't been down to Kyle I decided I'd try and film as much of it as possible and upload it. I tried to include all the stops however some are missed because they were request stops and platforms were on the other side. (Many stops along the route are stop to request stations)
In terms of traffic or speed its by no means the most internesting line, but the scenery is worth the almost 3 hour journey between Inverness & Kyle alone. Incredible scenery and stunning views the entire way as you slowly weave your way through the highlands towards the atlantic coast.Great views of Loch Dughaill before heading in a south westerly direction to follow the stunning jaggered coastline of the Inner Seas Off The Coast Of Scotland right down to Kyle Of Lochalsh.
Kyle Of Lochalsh is a very small town, not all that much there. A fish n' chip shop near the station and a convienience store, then I boarded the 158 for its treck back to Inverness. The town is a passing point for the A87, which crosses the bridge and heads onto the adjacent island and up towards Portree.
Thanks for watching!

Some of the stations are REQUEST STOP so if the driver saw no passengers on the platform or wasn't requested by the conductor to stop he would pass by whereas if there was passengers on the platform or he was requested to stop there he would stop at the station.
This video does not cover the whole journey but I just got parts where it looked interesting. The return journey was not recorded because the train was full and we did not have good seats unfortunately, but I just slept on the way back :D
It would be much appreciated if you guys could leave this video a like because it really helps me and it tells me that I am uploading good content :D Also remember to subscribe, I do minecraft and sometimes some train videos.

KYLE OF LOCHALSH to INVERNESS in 1964
Continuing the tour of scenic Scotland by rail in 1964. At the time these lines were threatened with closure as uneconomic.
Inverness & Kyle of Lochalsh in August 1993
Video taken on two successive Wednesdays on the Inverness - Kyle of Lochalsh line - 18th & 25th August 1993. The primary aim was to lineside and travel on the 12:35 from Inverness and the 17:05 return from Kyle of Lochalsh, which was supposed to be the celebrity pair of 26s, 007 [D5300] & 001 [D5301].
On the 18th August I arrived at Kyle by road and observed 37232 arrive and carry out some shunting, then drove to Plockton to view the 26s pass there, followed by 37232 heading back to Inverness. In the evening, the 26s are seen at Dingwall crossing 37402 on their return to Inverness.
In the evening at Inverness, lines of stored locos are seen [if anyone can tell me which ones they might be, it would be nice], along with 37428 moving on to the fuel point, followed by the 26s shunting the stock out of the platform and then on to the fuel point. 08782 shunts coaches.
On 25th August, stored locos in the line adjacent to the station were 26035, 37215, 37111 & 37431. 37106 departs with a train to Aberdeen, which releases 37428. An unidentified Inter City liveried 37 stands by while 37428 goes to the fuel point. 37156 departs with a train to Kyle of Lochalsh. The 26s are then seen in the platform, followed by 37427 departing with an Aberdeen train, which releases 37402 to the fuel point.
Next, the 26s are seen at Garve waiting for a sprinter to cross, then from the train window at various points on the way to Kyle. At Kyle of Lochalsh the locos shunt the train to the other platform and then run round the train.
On the return, the locos are seen working hard occasionally from the windows and at Dingwall, they cross 37402 again. The locos are seen in the platform at Inverness then shunting the train out of the station, then on to the fuel point.
Finally, on the morning of 26th August 37402 passes the level crossing at Bunchrew.
There is some wind noise on the audio, some of which I have suppressed.

Rail journey to Kyle of Lochalsh
A weekend railway journey from central England to one of the edges of Scotland overlooking the Isle of Skye and back. Views through a railway carriage window plus footnotes explaining some of them.
'Great Marquess' on the Inverness to Kyle line
Filmed at Loch Carron and Kyle of Lochalsh in Scotland during the 'Great Briton III' steam rail tour. A rather wheezy 'Great Marquis' nevertheless looks spectacular weaving in and out of the bays along Scotlands most beautiful Loch. Steam on this amazing line is now extremely rare, so its every credit to the Railway Touring Company for organising this brilliant rail tour. Incidentally I saw the 'Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) above the Loch the night before.
Scotland is so Beautiful.
'The Great Britain XI' - Day Four | Inverness - Kyle of Lochalsh
Day Four of the adventure and it was time for 1264 to go solo over the Kyle of Lochalsh line.
With the weather lacking its sunnier side, it made conditions tricky for the loco on such a steeply graded line... Or so you might think! A fine run was had all the way to the Kyle, with little to no issues for the B1 on the classes debut on the route.
With the main road running parallel to the line, it gave the opportunity for many a shot to be had and as a result the return of the trip will feature in a future video ;) Hope you enjoy!

Kyle of Lochalsh | Scottish Highlands & Islands Travelogue 2018 | S1E5
We catch the ferry from Craignure on the Isle of Mull back to Oban on the Scottish mainland. We then make the scenic (but rainy) drive north in the Land Rover Defender 110 up to Fort William on Loch Linnhe, and then through Glen Sheil over to the Kyle of Lochalsh and Eilean Donan Castle. No camping today, but we do book a room at the Hotel Balmacara where we get a comfortable night's sleep and a good meal. We're surprised to see another Scotland Overland Land Rover at the hotel, but we don't run into the occupants.
This series follows our 2-week Scottish Highlands and Islands adventure from October 2018. Join us as we drive over 1,500 miles in 14 days and visit the islands of Mull, Iona, Harris, Lewis and Skye, and drive parts of the NC500 Scottish Highlands route.

Places to see in ( Kyle of Lochalsh - UK )
Kyle of Lochalsh is a village on the northwest coast of Scotland, 63 miles west of Inverness. It is located on the Lochalsh peninsula, at the entrance to Loch Alsh, opposite the village of Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye. A ferry used to connect the two villages until it was replaced by the Skye Bridge, about a mile (2 km) to the west, in 1995.
The village is the transport and shopping centre for the area as well as having a harbour and marina with pontoons for maritime visitors. The surrounding scenery and wildlife are regarded as attractions of the village, as is the slow pace of life. Crofting as well as more recent crofting pursuits like salmon farming are some of the activities taking place in Kyle of Lochalsh.
Kyle of Lochalsh railway station is connected to Inverness by the Kyle of Lochalsh railway line, built in 1897 to improve public transport to the north-west of Scotland. The line ends on the water's edge, near where the ferry connection used to run. A land-based control centre of the Royal Naval BUTEC submarine range is based in Kyle of Lochalsh. Kyle of Lochalsh lies almost precisely 500 miles (800 km) due north of Land's End in Cornwall.
In 1980, the BBC did a series of documentaries, entitled Great Railway Journeys Of The World. The Kyle of Lochalsh appeared in an episode entitled Confessions of a Trainspotter, presented by Michael Palin. In the segment, Palin travelled by various trains from London to Kyle of Lochalsh. His humour was evident throughout the documentary. Upon reaching the Kyle of Lochalsh, he purchased a large piece of railway memorabilia—the Kyle of Lochalsh railway platform sign. The ending credits showed Palin taking the oversized sign with him back to London, which he then hung on his garden wall at home. Along with nearby town Plockton, the town became the backdrop to the BBC drama series Hamish MacBeth. Kyle of Lochalsh was visited by the characters in Mark Chadbourn's trilogy, Age of Misrule.

Kyle of Lochalsh Railway Line Loch Carron Scottish Highlands Scotland
Tour Scotland October travel video a diesel passenger train on the Kyle of Lochalsh Railway Line by Loch Carron. The Kyle of Lochalsh Line is a primarily single track railway line in the Scottish Highlands, from Dingwall to Kyle of Lochalsh. Many of the passengers are tourists, but there are also locals visiting Inverness for shopping, and commuters. None of the line is electrified, and all trains on the line are diesel powered, as are all other trains in the Scottish Highlands. During the winter months there are three, generally 2 car services, per day in each direction, with no Sunday services. During summer months, Monday to Saturday services increase to four in both directions, mostly running as 4 cars, with two services in each direction on a Sunday.
Scotland with Great Rail Journeys
Scotland is, undoubtedly, unmatched in terms of scenery and tradition. The contrasting cities of Edinburgh, filled with elegant buildings crowned by the ancient Edinburgh Castle, and Glasgow, filled with marvellous modern wonders, are in themselves fabulous to explore, whilst the wild and wonderful highlands and islands are breathtaking to behold.
A favourite of Great Rail Journeys, we take our customers to all the best places in Scotland. Our tours usually start in Edinburgh, where you can wonder up the famous Royal Mile, or perhaps immerse yourself in the local culture with a trip to the Edinburgh Tattoo. From here, you travel on a line that is consistently voted one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world: the West Highland Line. Sometimes travelling on board The Jacobite, other times on Scotland’s excellent ScotRail service, this incredible journey is certainly not one to be missed. As well as this line, we also travel on the Kyle Line, the Strathspey Railway, and on the Cairngorm Mountain Railway, to see this awe-inspiring country from its best angle.
Julian Appleyard takes you through some of our favourite Scottish tours in this video, describing the unmatched scenery, incredible rail journeys, and of course the excellent accommodation and food that are designed to enthral and delight our customers.
