The Marieta Islands were originally formed many thousands of years ago by volcanic activity, and are completely uninhabited. The islands are about an hour-long boat ride west-northwest from the coast of Puerto Vallarta and are visited daily by hundreds of tourists, yet no one can legally set foot on the islands. In the early 1900s, the Mexican government began conducting military testing on the islands because no one lived there. Many bombings and large explosions took place on the islands causing amazing caves and rock formations to be created. After a massive international outcry, started by scientist Jacques Cousteau in the late 1960s, the government eventually decided to label the islands a national park and therefore protected against any fishing, hunting or human activity. Impressive Beach, Marietas Islands and the Hidden Beach, close to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico
If you are visiting Puerto Vallarta, you have to take the time to visit the impressive Marietas Islands and the well-known Hidden Beach (Playa Escondida, Playa del Amor), although geographically located in the state of Nayarit, they are also very get to from PV for tourists arriving in our city.
It's a small group of uninhabited islands and islets that are some miles south-west of the northern coast of the bay in the Municipality of Bay of Banderas, where Punta de Mita is the nearest town. Depending on your tour provider you'll take off from mostly Puerto Vallarta or Punta Mita.

There are two main islands of volcanic origin that date about 60 thousand years, a rounded one called Isla Redonda (yes, you guessed it, round island) And another that is known as Long Island, which you can imagine, is ... elongated :-).
Due to their excessive popularity, there were too many tourists visiting the island, so it's necessary to get an authorized tour and not all of them go to the hidden beach, although there are many interesting and beautiful places to visit and snorkel at in the Marieta Islands and surrounding waters, it is important to check and confirm what's included in your trip before you buy it.

Currently only a bit more than 100 people are authorized access daily. This is strictly imposed, there are two official boats there with guards and the authority to impose severe fines to those that don't follow the rules. You need to pay a special tax and obtain a special bracelet, all these are reviewed for access. You get a helmet from the guards and you are then let in if the conditions permit it. You might not be authorized if the tides are too high, if there are strong waves or if there is some other form of danger, stinging jellyfish for example.

Puerto Vallarta's Luxury Shopping Center - LA ISLA
I stumbled upon La Isla while walking the streets of Puerto Vallarta. I went during the daytime on a weekday, so it wasn't too busy, which was a great opportunity to take a few shots. La Isla is a brand new shopping centre with lots of American stores and restaurants. It's also located in the hotel zone and not too far from downtown PV.
I actually went back to La Isla on a Saturday night to catch one of their free live performances that takes place every night.
I enjoyed my time at La Isla and can't wait to go back there the next time I'm in town.

- Playa Colomitos, una pequeña y acogedora playa maravillosa al sur de Boca de Tomatlán, la opción gratuita es irse por tierra, lo que requiere estar en buena forma y ser paciente, otro es pagando 5 dólares, más o menos, y tomar un taxi acuático (panga) desde Boca.
- Jardines Botánicos de Vallarta, un gran viaje de un día, hermosos jardines, flores, selva, un gran río atraviesa la tierra. Esta opción no es gratuita, ya que tiene que pagar una tarifa de entrada que es muy razonable.
- Los Arcos, puedes verlos desde la carretera (lo que es gratis), pero realmente disfrutarlos puede requerir tomar un crucero por la bahía, aunque la mayoría tiene un precio razonable.
