Lake District, 10 Lakes Tour, England
England's Lake District is one of the prettiest parts of the United Kingdom as we'll show you in our driving tour that's going to be visiting most of the lakes of this wonderful area in the northwest of Great Britain, sharing with you some astonishingly pretty views.
We'll also visit some of the small towns that dot this landscape and we will take you on a boat ride from one end of Ullswater to the other, it's the second largest Lake in the Lake District, although it's only 9 miles long, so you'll find that the Lake District is relatively compact in size.
It's about 30 miles wide and about 40 miles from north to south, all included in the National Park that was created in 1951.
Windermere 2:53 Ambleside 4:00 Rydalwater 5:14 Grasmere 5:51 Thirlmere 9:51 Derwentwater 10:50 Buttermere 13:44 Crummockwater 14:17 Keswick 15:06 Castlerrig Stone Circle 15:33 Ullswater 17:36 Brotherswater 20:11 Troutbeck 21:08 Peter Rabbit 21:56
Especially when guided by a tour company like Mountain Goat with our excellent driver, Kevin, in their minibus that will take us to all of the main sights without any effort on your part. We’re going to show you a one-day trip summarized in this movie in which we see the major lakes.
While it's called the Lake District for a good reason – that's the main attraction – there are many other sites to see, like the old stone bridge, the beautiful countryside we’re driving past, the mountain streams and lakes of course.

Derwentwater | Keswick | Kayaking
Me and the lads went for a weekend camping in the Lake District. After a stormy night and not much sleep we awakened to sunny skies, so decided to take the kayaks out on Derwentwater. Enjoy.

Things to do in the Lake District | UK Breaks | P&O Ferries
There are loads of things to do in the beautiful Lake District. From adventurous activities and cultural discoveries to lakeside relaxation and hikes through the hills, you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained during a break here.
Drive through the Kirkstone Pass and have a drink in the third highest pub in England, the Kirkstone Pass Inn. Head to Low Wood Watersports where you can try canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, water-skiing, and wakeboarding, or stop off at the Low Wood Spa & Resort where you can indulge in relaxing treatments. We would also recommend a trip to Derwent Water where you can walk around the 8 miles that surround the lake, or have fun on the hop-on-hop-off boat ride that stops off at several platforms during its 50 minute journey.
One of the Lake District’s most famous attractions is Lake Windermere. At 10.5 miles long, a mile wide, and 220 feet deep, this is England’s largest natural lake and definitely deserves a visit! Surrounded by mountains and pretty villages, including Bowness-on-Windermere which is home to the World of Beatrix Potter, Lake Windermere is home to a number of walking trails and cruises. It’s also where you’ll find Low Wood Watersports and the spa mentioned above.
The World of Beatrix Potter is a must-visit for literature fans and those interested in conservation, as this popular Lake District attraction tells the authors story and how she did her bit to help the environment. You’ll also find events and exhibitions being held here throughout the year, the opportunity to eat a delicious traditional afternoon tea, and gorgeous gardens to explore.
Feeling thirsty? The Keswick Brewery is the place to go. Here, you can sample a selection of beers, learn about the brewing process, and buy your favourites in the bar or shop.
Ready to experience the beauty of the Lake District for yourself? This stunning destination is less than 3 hours away from both our Cairnryan and Hull ports by car, which means that it is just a short road trip away once you have disembarked from the ferry!
