England midfielder Adam Lallana heads a list of four injury absentees for Liverpool's friendly again
Adam David Lallana (/ləˈlɑːnə/ lə-LAH-nə;born 10 May 1988) is an English professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Premier League club Liverpool and England. Lallana began his youth career with AFC Bournemouth before transferring to Southampton in 2000, where he developed in their academy and became a professional in 2006. After a brief loan back to Bournemouth he broke into Southampton's first team as they earned two promotions from League One to the Premier League, becoming captain in 2012. After two seasons in the top flight and an international breakthrough, he joined Liverpool for a reported £25 million in July 2014. Since his senior international debut in 2013, Lallana has made over 30 appearances for England and represented them at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2016. Lallana was a member of the AFC Bournemouth Centre of Excellence, where he was spotted by a talent scout from Southampton. He joined the Premier League club's Saints Academy as a 12-year-old in September 2000. Southampton paid £3,000 compensation to Bournemouth with further payments of £5,000 and £10,000 when he signed scholarship and professional contracts respectively.Lallana was involved in Southampton's FA Youth Cup squads of 2004–05 and 2005–06, when they reached the final and semi-final respectively.Lallana joined the first team squad in July 2006, making his debut on 23 August 2006, in a 5–2 victory over Yeovil Town, in the League Cup.On 31 October 2006 he signed a new contract to keep him at Southampton until December 2009. On 9 October 2007 he joined Bournemouth on loan for one month. On 28 April 2008, Lallana scored his first professional goal or Southampton against West Bromwich Albion in a crucial Championship match, with a well-placed finish into the bottom left corner. He became a regular in the first team at the start of the 2008–09 season. On 29 August 2008, he signed a new three-year deal with the Saints. He finished the 2009–10 season with a total of twenty goals in all competitions, netting his 20th on the final day of the season against Southend United. This made him the first Southampton midfielder to score twenty goals in a season since Matthew Le Tissier's 30 in the 1994–95 season. On 7 January 2011, Lallana signed a new contract with Southampton which would expire in the summer of 2015.He was named in the League One PFA Team of the Year for the 2010–11 season after scoring 11 goals that season.[15]He then scored on the opening day of the 2011–12 season, a 3–1 victory over Leeds United at St Mary's Stadium which broke a 12-year hoodoo of Southampton not winning on the opening day and secured a record-breaking seventh consecutive league win. He then scored twice in a 5–2 victory at Ipswich Town. His 150th start for the club came in a 1–1 draw at south coast rivals Portsmouth. His tenth goal of the season came in a 4–0 victory over Derby County. He then grabbed a brace in a 2–0 victory over Barnsley. He was nominated for the Player of the Year award but lost out to teammate Rickie Lambert. Along with Lambert and Kelvin Davis, he was one of three Southampton players named in the Championship PFA Team of the Year for the 2011–12 season. He scored on the final day of the campaign to finish with 13 goals, 11 of which came in the league. He made his first Premier League appearance on the opening day of the 2012–13 season, setting up a goal and wearing the captain's armband in a 3–2 defeat against 2011–12 champions Manchester City. He scored his first Premier League goal in a 4–1 defeat away to West Ham United. His second goal of the season came on 25 November, as he opened the scoring in a 2–0 home win against Newcastle United. The 50th goal of his career came in a 2–0 victory at Reading. On 11 April 2013, Lallana signed a new five-year contract with Southampton. In Southampton's 4–1 Premier League victory over Hull City on 9 November 2013, Lallana started with the ball 30 yards from goal and dribbled his way past five players into the left-hand side of the 18-yard box, before slotting it past Hull goalkeeper Steve Harper. On 18 April 2014, he was named as one of the six players on the shortlist for the PFA Players' Player of the Year award.[22] On 27 April 2014, he was named alongside teammate Luke Shaw in the PFA Team of the Year.[23] On 6 May, he was crowned as both the Southampton Players' Player and Fans' Player of the year.

Throwback Thursday: Guy Whittingham v Bristol Rovers (1993)
This week's Throwback Thursday classic goal - sponsored by the World of Cars - is Guy Whittingham's record-breaking strike against Bristol Rovers in 1993.
Whittingham broke Billy Hanies' 66-year-old record of 43 goals in a single season for Pompey, with this emphatic effort at thesame time of asking.
It may not have been the prettiest of strikes, but it remains one of the most historic Blues goals, as part of a 2-1 away win.
In all, 'Corporal Punishment' would amass a haul of 47 goals across all domestic competitions (not including the Anglo-Italian Cup), which will likely never be beaten.
For a look back at Whittingham's entire record-breaking season, check out the 'Bygone Blues' feature on him, exclusively on Pompey Player:

ENGLAND VS TURKEY 3-0: Goals and highlights from U19s friendly
A clinical display of finishing helped England U19s secure a well-earned 3-0 victory against Turkey and extended their unbeaten run to 15 games under head coach Noel Blake.
On a crisp and cold night in Chester a first-half strike by U19s debutant Devante Cole - son of former England striker Andrew Cole - and a quickfire double from Lewis Baker and then Callum Robinson in the second, gave England the victory their confident dynamic play richly deserved.
The victory also ensured Blake's side go into May's Elite Round of qualification for the UEFA U19 European Championship with four wins out of five for the current crop in the 1995 year-group.
England got off to a positive start and Chelsea midfielder John Swift - the outstanding performer of the first half -- was a constant threat to the Turkish defence, playing in advanced midfield role behind the front three of Cole, Sam Gallagher and Josh Murphy.
And it was Cole and Swift who looked the most potent combination, with a series of neat interplays and clever exchanges that Turkey struggled to contain.
After a couple of close shaves, the combination of Cole and Swift broke through.
Swift picked up the ball on the edge of the penalty box, beat his man and played a delightful looping ball directly into the path of Cole who, without the need for a touch, let it bounce once and rifled across Ibrahim Demir in the Turkey goal and into the bottom corner. It was a finish his famous father would have been proud of.
England remained in control of the game after going ahead, and on 41 minutes almost scored what would have been one of the team goals of the season.
Swift was again at the centre of the action and again he linked well with Cole.
The pair have never played together before but continued their seemingly telepathic understanding. Swift found Cole on the right, Cole played it back into the playmaker's path -- he beat his man with ease and fired his shot just wide of Akkan's near post. It would have been some goal.
But the Young Lions did not have to wait long to extend their lead -- and put the game to bed in a four-minute spell in the second half.
Gallagher latched on to a Murphy pass and the athletic forward beat his man but was hauled down in the box. Chelsea's Baker -- and captain for the second half -- took the spot-kick and sent the keeper the wrong way.
And on 63 minutes substitute Robinson took advantage of a mixup in the Turkey defense -- and the Aston Villa man pounded to fire a low shot that squirmed under the body of Demir and into the net.
It was Robinson's second strike in as many appearances for the U19s, who now prepare to welcome Scotland, Montenegro and Ukraine to England for the final qualifying round of UEFA's U19 European Championship.

Victoria quays part 2. Sheffield, UK
Beautiful area to walk ( 30 10 2013 )
Victoria Quays (formerly Sheffield Canal Basin) is a large canal basin in Sheffield, England. It was constructed 1816--1819 as the terminus of the Sheffield Canal (now part of the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation) and includes the former coal yards of the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway. The basin ceased operation as a cargo port in 1970 and the site and buildings were largely neglected. A restoration and redevelopment of 1992--1994 reopened the site providing new office and business space and leisure facilities as well as berths for leisure canal boats. There are a number of Grade II listed buildings on the site. These include the original Terminal Warehouse of 1819, the Straddle Warehouse (1895--1898), a grain warehouse (c1860), and a curved terrace of coal merchant's offices (c1870)

Victoria Quays Marina
Calder Valley Marine now occupy offices and the waterspace at the prestigious Victoria Quays in Sheffield and will be operating the Quays as a fully operational marina. This is excellent news for this business which has been based primarily in the West Yorkshire area.
Victoria Quays is only a matter of yards from the city's Castle Market which is situated close to Sheffield City Centre.
Victoria Quays lies on the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal and is situated just 5 minutes drive from jct. 33 on the M1, the area was regenerated in the early nineties by British Waterways with the conversion of warehouses and the railway arches together with the construction of new commercial buildings within and around the Quays.
One of the most striking and interesting of these is the historic Straddle building which as the name suggests straddles the whole canal basin has been converted into office space and residential use. It was built by the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation Company between 1895 & 1898.
Calder Valley Marine plan to turn the Victoria Quays into thriving bustling marina, the intent is to invest in the Quays to provide the facilities such as diesel gas and chandlery plus new and pre-owned boat sales, they will also provide a full time presence at the Quays in a bid to provide the modern discerning boater the things he/she requires in the twenty first century.
Since the takeover of the marina Gordon Lambert, managing Director of Calder Valley Marine has negotiated a deal with Tim Tyler and Jonathan Wilson of Tyler/Wilson Boatbuilders and are now able to offer the high quality shell to the public .
Many examples of their work are available to view for the public to view in a non factory setting, but accompanied factory tours will be available upon request.
This will enable Tim & Jonathan to concentrate on what they do best which is build the high quality steelwork they have built a reputation for the length and breadth of the Country
