Lambert Puppet Theatre Closes
The iconic Lambert Puppet Theatre in Dublin is set to close.
The theatre, which is located in Monkstown, was established in 1972.
It's said to be the country's only purpose-built puppet theatre, with a 250-capacity auditorium.
However, it was confirmed today that the theatre will now close its doors.
Lambert Puppet Theatre Badges
These two badges were produced by the Lambert Puppet Theatre, a much-loved local institution. Founded in 1972 by Eugene Lambert and his family, it was Ireland's first purpose-built puppet theatre. The theatre also produced television programmes, including Wanderly Wagon and Bosco. Mr. Crow, depicted on one of the badges, was a character from Wanderly Wagon.
After being forced to close its doors, the Lambert Puppet Theatre heads on tour
WITH ITS DOORS set to close up for the first time since 1972, the Lambert Puppet Theatre is setting its sights on touring.
Liam Lambert, current director of the theatre and son of founder Eugene, says after the twin hits of the 2008 recession and the the 2015 fire that damaged some of the building, keeping hold of the theatre would be 'impossible.'

Eugene Lambert - Brógeen Follows The Magic Tune
Short clip of the Irish puppet series Brógeen Follows The Magic Tune (1967), based on the book by Patricia Lynch. RTÉ, Ireland's National Television and Radio Broadcaster, would later re-use the master video tapes containing the series, deleting it permanently. But a dubbed version still exists in the archives of NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation), which this clip is from.
