Recently the Lancashire Infantry Museum celebrates its 90th anniversary. Based at Fulwood Barracks in Preston, it is the premier centre for military historical research in the north of England.

Lancashire Infantry Museum - Lancashire Headline News
The Lancashire Infantry Museum were in good spirits, after they received a rare collection of World War Two medals.
The medals belong to the late Lieutenant Colonel John Winn and were donated to the musuem by his daughter.

Re-opening Of The Lancashire Infantry Museum 2nd September 2014
After a four year major re-development programme the museum was officially re-opened on the 2nd September 2014. The project culminated with the opening of the refurbished Somme Room, a project funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund and a large grant from The Duchy Of Lancaster's Benevolent Fund. This is my short film of the opening event.

Preston is a city and the administrative centre of Lancashire, England. On the north bank of the River Ribble, it is an urban settlement and unparished area that together with surrounding rural civil parishes forms the City of Preston local government district of Lancashire. The district obtained city status in 2002, becoming England's 50th city in the 50th year of Queen Elizabeth II's reign.
Preston and its surrounding area have provided evidence of ancient Roman activity, largely in the form of a Roman road which led to a camp at Walton-le-Dale. The Angles established Preston; its name is derived from the Old English meaning priest's settlement and in the Domesday Book is recorded as Prestune. In the Middle Ages, Preston was a parish and township in the hundred of Amounderness and was granted a Guild Merchant charter in 1179, giving it the status of a market town. Textiles have been produced since the mid-13th century when locally produced wool was woven in people's houses. Flemish weavers who settled in the area in the 14th century helped develop the industry. In the early-18th century, Edmund Calamy described Preston as a pretty town with an abundance of gentry in it, commonly called Proud Preston. Sir Richard Arkwright, inventor of the spinning frame, was born in the town. The most rapid period of growth and development coincided with the industrialisation and expansion of textile manufacturing. Preston was a boomtown of the Industrial Revolution, becoming a densely populated engineering centre, with large industrial plants. The town's textile sector fell into terminal decline from the mid-20th century and Preston has subsequently faced similar challenges to other post-industrial northern towns, including deindustrialisation, economic deprivation and housing issues.
Preston is the seat of Lancashire County Council, houses the main campus of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and is home to Preston North End F.C., a founder member of the Football League and the first English football champions.

The Museum of Lancashire
The Museum of Lancashire is housed in a grade II listed former quarter sessions house (courthouse) in Preston in Lancashire, England. Designed by Thomas Rickman in the Neo-Classical style, building of the courthouse began in 1825. It is now one of the oldest remaining buildings in Preston. The Museum draws on the collections of Lancashire County Museum Service to provide an overview of Lancashire history and heritage told through objects and stories of Lancashire residents.
Having undergone a refurbishment during 2010/11 the Museum contains a range of family friendly and interactive galleries to tell the Lancashire story including:
Lancashire Through Time is based around the County's archeological collections including 4,000 year old Stone Age axes, Roman artefacts and early industrial items. Lancashire at Play contains highlights including part of the Hylda Baker costume collection and Les Dawson, George Formby and Gracie Fields material. The Lancashire People Gallery focuses on the Lancashire identity and comprises items loaned by members of the public revealing some exceptional hidden histories. Lancashire Law and Order reveals the building's court house heritage. Responsible for the trials of petty criminals between 1827 to around 1900, the Chairman of the Court, Thomas Batty Addison earned the name of the Terror of the Criminal for his no nonsense approach. This gallery also includes items from the Lancashire Constabulary Police collection, charting the development of the force from 1839 to the present day. Lancashire at Work highlights the range of industries Lancashire has embraced from agriculture to textiles, maritime to engineering trades, not to mention Holland's pies and Uncle Joe's mint balls! Lancashire Goes to War is dominated by an impressive and atmospheric World War I trench. It also displays information about the role of women during the war and how we remember our fallen heroes.
Other interactive galleries include life on the homefront in World War II, and a Victorian classroom.
The Museum is also home to the collections of the Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry and the 14th/20th Kings Hussars.

Multiple UFO Formation Sighted Over Preston, UK ( February 11 2018 )
UNEDITED WITNESS STATEMENT : Outside Preston train station and saw these lights in the sky.
1. I did see more than this before I recorded this video but my phone battery was low. There was also alot of witnesses that saw these lights. I was thinking Chinese lanterns at first but they are banned in this country now plus they don't fly in formation like that and the weather was bad that day. There was no sound coming from these lights and it was 6.25pm, Preston United Kingdom .

Lancashire's Fulwood Barracks to close in major army shake up - Lancashire Headline News
Two army sites in the North West are on a list of 56 being closed down.
Preston will no longer be home to British troops when the Grade II Fulwood Barracks closes in six years time.

Made In Preston Our Story
This is the final project documentary of an heritage lottery project which ran during May/June 2014 in Preston, Lancashire. This Dovetail led project brought together former employees and families of the Courtaulds rayon factory to share memories of working at the plant which was a major employer in Preston between 1939-1980. I worked on the project as film maker and oral historian.

I wasn't originally going to upload this video, as I only captured the return working on video (thought i'd switched the camcorder on for the inbound working, when i'd actually already had it on, and switched it off...!), but I thought I could add a few photos to it and make at least a For the Record video, at least. Anyway, first is a sequence of photos of the Deltic & Class 47 at Howsham foot crossing on 5Z17 Lincoln Central to Barnetby Reception Sidings. Next is a shot of the Deltic in a siding at Barnetby, and the Class 47 after running round, now on the rear of the stock, in the Reception Sidings at Barnetby. Lastly, the only video I got on the day, of the Deltic cruising back to Lincoln past Howsham foot crossing on 5Z19 Barnetby Reception Sidings to Lincoln Central, with a few photos to end on. Apologies for any wind noise. I did my best to reduce it as much as possible, but it was a very blustery day.
