In South Africa's Western Cape, there are kite spots all along the coast. However, few locations bring the warm water and all level friendly conditions of Langebaan. This dreamy kite Destination is complete with a relaxed small town vibe along the lagoon beachfront. Langebaan is the perfect blend of kite trip and beach holiday. If you're looking for a family friendly location where you can still get in some epic sessions, Langebaan is the place to go.

Our 4th & 5th flight with our Mavic Air. We were relieved everytime it landed safely gain. I was still so getting used to all the things to check, I forgot the gimbal cover on once. The image was still there!After landing and removing the cover however we got nice shots of the beautiful surroundings. See the South African West Coast fynbos vegetation and kitesurfers kitesurfing over the lagoon at Shark Bay, a world renown spot. Some footage are just us having fun in Langebaan.

Cape Secrets.
Langebaan is a stunning coastal town on the Western coast of South Africa. It’s about 110km north from Cape Town and just by the West Coast National Park. A great time to visit is Spring, when flower season begins. In this video we camped in Leentjiesklip Caravan Park and drove to the Nature Reserve, specifically Kraalbaai and Churchhaven.
Leentjiesklip Caravan Park Fees – R248 per site (one site per 6x people) in season, R183 out of season.
West Coast National Park Fees, (out of flower season) - SA citizens; R54 per adult and R27 per child. None SA citizens – R80 per adult & R40 per child.
(In flower season, Aug & Sep) - SA citizens; R76 per adult and R38 per child. None SA citizens – R170 per adult & R85 per child.

How to spend a sunny day in Langebaan: Go to Kraalbaai - an isolated beach located in the West Coast National Park.

Around 120 km from Cape Town along the West Coast you will find Langebaan. It is situated along a tranquil lagoon. Langebaan was historically a whaling station and fishing village.
Modern day Langebaan is a popular tourist attraction with a 16km long lagoon and favourable winds and flat waters for kite surfing, wake boarding, windsurfing, yachting and angling.
Langebaan is situated in the heart of the West Coast National Park and caters for nature lover who enjoy hiking, walking and cycling and not forgetting the bird watching, which is also a popular activity,
Langebaan also has its own Golf Estate as well as a casino (Club Mykonos).
There is no shortage of restaurants in Langebaan, with many of them offering a variety of fresh seafood. Die Standloper, possibly the most popular is an open-air restaurant right on the sea waters edge. Enjoy the sand under your feed and indulge in traditional seafood dishes. Other well known restaurants include a vibby Pearly's Restaurant .

Langebaan is a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa on the eastern shore of Langebaan Lagoon.
Langebaan is situated 120 km north of Cape Town, just off the R27, about 28 km from Vredenburg and 20 km from Saldanha Bay. The Lagoon stretches for 17 km from Saldanha Bay, past Langebaan to Geelbek in the South. In places, it is up to 4 km wide.

The Langebaan Lagoon was formed by the rising and falling of sea levels during pre-historic times. This is unlike most lagoons which form where fresh water rivers enter the sea. As a result, Langebaan Lagoon is purely a salt water lagoon.

Langebaan is one of the oldest towns in South Africa with a history dating back more than 400 years. It has an archaeological history of a few million years. Twelve kilometres east of the farm Elandsfontein, a fossilised skeleton was found that dates back to the Stone age. This fossil deposit is considered to be one of the richest in the world.
Seal hunters from France frequented the area long before the time of Jan van Riebeeck.

This is a bird sanctuary and hosts the largest colony of Kelp birds. There are various angles. It is about a 3 - 4km paddle depending on your route. Stunning views of birds, seals and kelp forests all the way. Definitely something to do if you get the chance.

Boats, foils and falls in Langebaan lagoon, South Africa.
We recently were invited to spend the night on an amazing houseboat in the middle of the Langebaan Lagoon, which is an hour away from Big Bay.
We got to wakeboard and foil at sunrise, on glassy water, with cheeky seals playing around. And we had an amazing session at sunset, staying out there until the sun completely disappeared and the only thing left to see was the beautiful South African night sky.
