Obama and Raul Castro take in baseball game between Cuba and Tampa Bay
Before concluding his historic stay in Havana, U.S. President Barack Obama visited the newly renovated stadium Latinoamericano stadium, with his wife and daughters, for a friendly match between the national team and Tampa Bay Rays.
In his last public event before heading on to Argentina, Cuban President Raul Castro greeted his counterpart as they sat down together in the stands.
Prior to the start of the game, players and fans stood for a minute of silence for the victims of Tuesday's terrorist attacks in Brussels, Belgium, which left at least 30 dead and more than 200 wounded.
The symbolic first pitch was thrown by two Cubans, Pedro Luis Lazo, 42, one of Cuba's best ever baseball players, having won two Olympic gold medals, and Luis Tiant, 75, a pitcher who left Cuba in the 60s and became a MLB star for the Boston Red Sox.
More than 55,000 fans filled the bleachers of the stadium to witness the first visit by an MLB team to Cuba since 1999, when the Baltimore Orioles played the national team.
The Cuban Baseball Federation said the meeting with Tampa Bay shows the interest in increasing mutually beneficial relationships and in consolidating the sport as a bridge of exchange between the two peoples.

Two of Major League Baseball's biggest names make rare trip to Havana
Two of Major League Baseball's biggest names have made a rare trip to the Cuban capital Havana as part of a sports diplomacy programme.
Retired Hall of Famer Barry Larkin and Ken Griffey Jr. visited the island country on Sunday in the hope of fostering personal ties between the two nations.
The pair spent the first part of their five-day trip holding sports clinics for little-leaguers, who were eager to learn from the pro's.
Baseball in our country is big and baseball in this country is big, said Griffey as he trained Cuban little-leaguers.
The little things we can do to help each other out, it means a lot, he said.
Griffey, an outfielder, played in the Majors for 22 years for three teams: the Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago White Sox.
Both Larkin and Griffey Jr. wore white caps emblazoned with the American and Cuban flags.
I really truly believe that sports is one of those bridges than can build a very strong bonds, said Larkin who also took part in the coaching.
Larkin played shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds from 1986 to 2004 and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012.
The former US baseball players are travelling with Boston's Educational Travel Alliance, an agency that, for the past several years, has organised 'people-to-people' trips to the island.
US citizens are not allowed to travel to Cuba as tourists and must obtain a license from the US Treasury Department to take part in any educational programme involving a visit.
After becoming US President, Barack Obama loosened financial and travel restrictions allowing US citizens to visit Cuba and interact with its people.
It is estimated that between 70-thousand and 100-thousand Americans now visit the Caribbean nation each year.
Last year Cuban state television began showing MLB games for the first time in decades, though always on tape delay and not games featuring Cuban defectors.

American Tourist Visits Calixto García Íñiguez Baseball Stadium - Home of Sabuesos - Holguin, Cuba
I saw Calixto García Íñiguez Stadium on my taxi ride from Frank Pais International Airport and I knew I had to visit the place. Painted in distinct royal blue, Calixto García Íñiguez Stadium's hulking lights can be seen for miles around. Calixto Garcia Stadium is home to the Holguin Sabuesos baseball team.
I visited Calixto García Íñiguez Stadium early on a weekday morning. I left my Casa Particular with plans to go out for a coffee and eventually end up at the stadium.
After wandering through Holguin's various neighborhoods, parks, and sampling coffee at more than one Paladar, I made it to Calixto García Íñiguez Stadium.
The area surrounding Calixto García Íñiguez Stadium was bustling, with the adjoining park hosting a morning aerobics class. Many of Holguin's older residents were dancing to music and getting in their morning workout.
The stadium's gates were closed, although there were workers inside prepping for a future game. As I peered inside the stadium entrance, I saw various trophies, commemorative uniforms, photographs, and triumphs of the Holguin Sabuesos .
According to my research, Calixto García Íñiguez Stadium seats around 30,000 fans. That's a huge stadium for a provincial city. Baseball is a national treasure in Cuba. The love of the sport shines through in Calixto García Íñiguez Stadium.

A baseball game is loud in Cuba. But made even louder by the 'Congeros' of the Industriales baseball team. They play their hearts out for hours, honoring their heros and mine - Industriales.
