Elland Road is a football stadium in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, which has been the home of Leeds United F.C. since the club's foundation in 1919.
Leeds United - The Legends Club
Italian business man Andrea Radrizzani purchased Leeds United football club In the Summer of 2017. Following the purchase of the club the new owner quickly re-purchased the famous old stadium Elland Road and immediately set about upgrading one of the best-known traditional stadiums in English football.
One of the key developments took place in the East Stand of the stadium with the Lord Harewood Suite and Chairman’s Suite combined to create a luxurious new facility. The exclusive pitch view restaurant formed a brand-new hospitality concept for Leeds United known as The Legends Club.
The idea behind the Legends Club was to allow guests to watch the games in the best possible setting alongside some of the most famous faces from the club’s Champions League era in a world class hospitality facility. Glazed partitioning was fundamental to the design of the lounge with modern, floor to ceiling glazing allowing guests optimum views out to the football pitch. The lounge would directly lead out to the corporate seating areas outside meaning new glazed doors need to allow for in and out access, a flush threshold, the option for modern screening and the ability to open up the lounge on warm days.
Delivery
Having supplied products to other hospitality areas within the ground Leeds United contacted us to offer our expertise and again install our bespoke products but this time for the new Legends Club.
After a showroom consultation we agreed that the ideal solution was our premium XP View bi-folding doors complete with hard wired, remote control operated integral blinds. The three areas within the lounge each span 6.4metres x 2.2metres high so without altering the structure of the stadium we installed the following products:
Product Used
4 x 3300m x 2200m three panel XP View bi-folding doors.
4 x 1550mm x 2200mm fixed picture windows.
We also replaced the existing white fascia’s with our own bespoke pressings to ensure a cohesive look throughout the entire span of the lounge when viewed from the outside. To add even more of a wow factor, we led the designers away from choosing the products in white, instead choosing one of our exclusive Elite colours in Tempest which looks both striking and stunning whether sat within the lounge or in one of the different stands in the stadium.
The project has been a resounding success with the new lounge looking stunning and achieving its objective of offering a completely unique matchday and restaurant experience within Elland Road stadium.
Our bespoke bi-folding doors are of such premium quality that they’re ideal for commercial heavy usage such as this, and ideal for residential use. The key factors that made our bi-fold doors perfect for the Legends Lounge mirror many of the same requirements for our customers extensions, new-builds and renovations so please explore our project case studies for more inspiration or visit one of our showrooms.

LEEDS UNITED: ELLAND ROAD. THE HISTORY
A BRIEF HISTORY OF ELLAND ROAD THE HOME OF LEEDS UNITED WHERE THEY PLAYED THERE FIRST MATCH IN 1919.
Elland Road opened in 1897, however in the first years of its existence it was only used for rugby matches. In 1904 newly formed football club Leeds City moved into the ground, and in the following years the stadium got gradually expanded.
After in 1919 Leeds City got expelled from the Football League, the stadium was sold for a sum of £250 to newly formed Leeds United. Further renovations were made shortly after, but few changes were made in the decades following.
In 1956, a fire burned down the West Stand, and a new stand had to be built. With the successes of Leeds United in the 1960s and early 70s further renovations were made.
Elland Road achieved its record attendance in 1967 during an FA Cup match with Sunderland. A total of 57,892 supporters watched the game from the stands.
In the early 1990s, the club started a redevelopment program for the ground, which most notably included the rebuilding of the East Stand in 1993. At completion, the stand counted as the biggest cantilever stand in the world.
Elland Road was one of the playing venues of the Euro 1996 Championships, during which it hosted three group matches.
In the early 2000s, Leeds investigated a move to a brand new 55,000-stadium, however these plans were shelved after the club’s finances severely deteriorated. Only smaller renovations have been made to the stadium since.

For any copyright, please send me a message. Leeds United managing director Angus Kinnear said the club have plans to boost Elland Road from a capacity of 37,890 to 50,000 in the near future. Leeds celebrate their 100th birthday this week and Kinnear spoke to an audience during a reception hosted by the Lord Mayor of Leeds. The proposed plans would see the West Stand being raised to match the height of the East Stand, and the club believe if they make it to the Premier League they would be able to fill out a 50,000 capacity stadium. Kinnear said: In our centenary year we’re very proud to announce a partnership with the council on two initiatives. They fall under the title of Vision Elland Park. You notice that is a far cry from the Beeston we see today. Part of it is around the stadium and taking our stadium up to 50,000 and turning it into a true ground which can compete with other stadiums in the Premier League and in Europe. Despite not playing in the Premier League since the 2003-2004 season, Leeds are still regarded as among the biggest clubs in the country, and they have won three top-flight titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup. Their record attendance came in 1967 when 57,982 packed into Elland Road for a game against Sunderland, although this was before the ground introduced seating. Marcelo Biela's side came agonisingly close to a Premier League return last season before eventually losing 4-2 on aggregate to Frank Lampard's Derby County in the playoff semi-finals. Read More Mirror Football's Top Stories They are currently fifth in the Championship as they look to finish in the automatic promotion spots and host Birmingham City this weekend. Speaking on their centenary chairman Andrea Radrizzani told the club's official website: It is a very important day, 100 years is not for everybody. We are old enough to remember our past, but also still very young and determined to have a bright future. I think it is a great moment and opportunity to feel the history and use it as motivation for approaching the future.
