Places to see in ( Leek - UK )
Leek is a market town and civil parish in the county of Staffordshire, England, on the River Churnet. Leek is situated about 10 miles north east of Stoke-on-Trent. Leek is an ancient borough and was granted its royal charter in 1214. Leek is the administrative centre for the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. King John granted Ranulph de Blondeville, 6th Earl of Chester, the right to hold a weekly Wednesday market and an annual seven-day fair in Leek in 1207.
Leek's coat of arms is made up of a Saltire Shield. On the top is the Stafford Knot, either side is the Leek Double Sunset and below a gold garb. The crest is a mural crown with three Mulberry leaves on a Mount of Heather on top of which a Moorcock is resting his claw on a small-weave Shuttle.
Most of the town is at or above 600 feet (180 m) and is surrounded by the higher countryside of the Staffordshire Moorlands which is situated on the southern uplands of the Pennines. Leek is built on the slope and crown of a hill which is situated just a few miles south of the Roaches; a gritstone escarpment which rises steeply to 1,657 feet (505 m). Leek is situated at the foot of the Peak District National Park and is therefore often referred to as the Gateway to the Peak District, although the town is more often referred to as the Queen of the Moorlands.
Leek offers some contemporary architecture, most notably the alterations and refurbishment to Trinity Church on Derby Street (2011) and new teaching building on Horton Street for Leek College (2013). Nearby Rudyard Lake is a popular tourist attraction and home to the Rudyard Lake Steam Railway, running along its eastern shores. Other nearby local attractions are the local football club Leek Town F.C., Alton Towers, the cultural and leisure facilities of the city of Stoke-on-Trent, and the Peak District National Park. The Churnet Valley Railway at Cheddleton also attracts several thousand passengers a year
Leek's Double Sunset on and around the summer solstice also attracts many tourists. Traditionally, the best location for seeing the double sunset was in the grounds of the parish church, but it is no longer visible from there. Currently, the best locations to witness the spectacle are from Lowe Hill, on the outskirts of the town, and from the private road to Pickwood Hall, off Milltown Way. The phenomenon and its possible observation points are described in detail in Jeff Kent's book, The Mysterious Double Sunset. In May of every year, Leek Arts Festival takes place, celebrating the cultural heritage of the town.
The town of Leek is served by First with a regular number 18 bus service (or 16 on an alternative route via Cellarhead). Leek was served by Leek railway station, which was opened by the North Staffordshire Railway on 13 July 1849 but was finally closed in 1965.
( Leek - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Leek . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Leek - UK

International Street Food in London Compilation - BE WARNED - This Video May Make You Feel HUNGRY!!!
✓ We feel very much honoured, because in this video we are in the presence of true Champions.......When it comes to serving up delicious food; all these guys seen here are Champs; because they are at the very top of their game on the London Street Food Scene's league table.
Why champions? you may ask, the reason is this; they know how to serve up yummy food (right on time) to all of the discerning lunchtime office workers who regularly flock to their stalls for the very busy lunch time rush hours (which are between 12:00 noon to 2:00pm). Keep in mind that many before have tried and failed, so the hawkers and vendors you see here are the sucessful traders; who have bought to the streets their very own secret recipes and cooking techniques which in turn have allowed them to sucessfully survive in a very competive market.
This is a compiled video showing (not all but) most of the street food traders and hawkers in this market.
Epicurian delicacies from all over the world can be found in Whitecross Street Market.
Close your eyes and you'll hear the sounds of the sizzle and perhaps hopefully you'll imagine the smell of the delicious aromas coming from the grills, hot plates and griddles, but remember that these are just a couple of the aspects of street food........now open your eyes because the other aspect is the one that feeds your visual sense, so in this video we try our very best to convey and articulate that visual theatre to you; the viewer. The crème de la crème is represented here - so watch & enjoy!
Whitecross Street Market is a magical, bustling Street market that operates Monday to Fridays only......But Please Note: that the best days to visit are Thursdays and Fridays because those are the days when you're most likely to see the full line up of the food stalls. It's well worth visiting this market as it is truly a feast for the senses and your tastebuds! The chances are that just watching this video may just make you feel hungry!
This video is a compilation of the best of the best, we raise our hats to you.........The Street Food Champions of Whitecross Street Market.
We have to admit that we have fallen in love with this market, so we cannot wait until we visit here again.
They're not football champions.....but are food champions!

Italian Street Food: Hand Rolled Pasta Fettuccine Alfredo by Cheese Wheel, Camden Lock Market London
Follow us on Instagram:
✓ Welcome to Cheese Heaven!!! Because in this video we visit the UK's first Cheese Wheel stall, they're serving up freshly hand rolled fettuccine pasta, smothered with divine home style sauces and..........here's the best bit: tossed in a massive Cheese Wheel........that right a MASSIVE 40 Kilogram Ball of Grana Pagano Parmesan Cheese Cove.
Fettuccine Alfredo or (fettuccine al burro) is a pasta dish made from fettuccine ribbons tossed with Parmesan cheese and butter, just as the cheese melts, it emulsifies the liquids to form an intensely cheesy, smooth and rich coating on to the pasta.
The homemade signature White Wine Cream Sauce here is flavoured with Parmesan, Garlic and Fresh Chives.
The Vegetarian and (non veg) toppings offered are:
* Wild Mushroom Sauté.
* Basil Pesto and Semi Sun Dried Tomato.
* Smoked Pancetta (Crispy Bacon).
* Smoked + Cured Pork & Leek Italian Sausage.
* Truffle Carpaccio.
* Prawns.
They hand make the pasta while you wait - there is no secret to the recipe and preparation because everything is hand made in full view of you while you wait.
You can call it delicious restaurant quality food; but at very affordable Indian street food prices!!!

The Cheese Wheel is located in the West Yard of Camden Lock Market; in the KERB Street Food Market section area right next to the scenic Regents Canal.

Thrillist - London Fields Brewery - London, UK
Ideas hatched over a beer rarely come to fruition, though they must at least motivate you to some sort of action, or else Gazza would do, like, nothing. Actually following through -- and ensuring you probably won't -- the fellows behind London Fields Brewery.
Conceived by a pair of barley-pop enthusiasts over a pint of the very thing they're so enthusiastic about, Fields is housed in an open East London space with its own outdoor seating area, where they'll be crafting six different beers, a number whittled down to after an initial experimental mass fermenting effort -- oddly not a euphemism for uni. The final half dozen count an easy drinking session ale, an unfiltered lager, the bold Hackney Hopstar IPA, and Love Not War ale, recently concocted whilst barricaded inside during the riots, imagining no possessions. To launch the place in style, they're bringing you three full days of partying this weekend (no RSVP -- just show up), with festivity enhancers including a full hog roast, a wood-fired pizza oven, a live band busting out jazz, folk & blues, and the first public tasting of their various bevs, which will be ready, lest they literally fail to organize a piss-up at a brewery.
Pretty soon, you'll be able to buy the suds online and in local bars, as well as direct from the brewery via a swap-a-crate scheme that'll see them give discounts for refilling used bottles, provided you didn't break yours whilst tackling your demons.

Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals.[b] A follower of the diet or the philosophy is known as a vegan (/ˈviːɡən/ VEE-gən).[c] Distinctions may be made between several categories of veganism. Dietary vegans (or strict vegetarians) refrain from consuming animal products, not only meat but also eggs, dairy products and other animal-derived substances.[d] The term ethical vegan is often applied to those who not only follow a vegan diet but extend the philosophy into other areas of their lives, and oppose the use of animals for any purpose.[e] Another term is environmental veganism, which refers to the avoidance of animal products on the premise that the industrial farming of animals is environmentally damaging and unsustainable.[22]
Some reviews have shown that some people who eat a vegan diet have less chronic disease, including heart disease, than people who do not follow a restrictive diet.[23] They are regarded as appropriate for all stages of life including during infancy and pregnancy by the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics,[f] Dietitians of Canada,[25] and the British Dietetic Association.[26] The German Society for Nutrition does not recommend vegan diets for children or adolescents, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding.[g] Vegan diets tend to be higher in dietary fiber, magnesium, folic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E, iron, and phytochemicals; and lower in dietary energy, saturated fat, cholesterol, long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, calcium, zinc, and vitamin B12.[h] Unbalanced vegan diets may lead to nutritional deficiencies that nullify any beneficial effects and may cause serious health issues.[28][29][30] Some of these deficiencies can only be prevented through the choice of fortified foods or the regular intake of dietary supplements.[28][31] Vitamin B12 supplementation is especially important because its deficiency causes blood disorders and potentially irreversible neurological damage.[30][32][33]
Donald Watson coined the term vegan in 1944 when he co-founded the Vegan Society in England. At first he used it to mean non-dairy vegetarian, but from 1951 the Society defined it as the doctrine that man should live without exploiting animals.[34] Interest in veganism increased in the 2010s,[35][36] especially in the latter half.[36] More vegan stores opened and vegan options became increasingly available in supermarkets and restaurants in many countries. The term vegetarian has been in use since around 1839 to refer to what was previously described as a vegetable regimen or diet.[37] Modern dictionaries based on scientific linguistic principles explain its origin as an irregular compound of vegetable[38] and the suffix -arian (in the sense of supporter, believer as in humanitarian).[39] The earliest-known written use is attributed to the actress Fanny Kemble around 1839 in Georgia in the United States.[i]
