Legendary Cities : New Orleans And its French heritage
New Orleans, Louisiana: the home of Mardi Gras, and the musical and cultural hotbed of the southern United States. The city’s culture derived itself from a blend of French, Spanish, African-American, Creole and Native American roots. We explore her streets lined with French colonial-style buildings, and resonate with her vibrant atmosphere, along the promenades full of revelry and street music.
Featuring aerial footage of this city of revelry along the Mississipi, an inside look at landmarks such as the “Napoleon’s House”, the St Louis Cathedral, and more, we get a taste of Louisiana’s colorful history. Under French colonial rule it was a place where France sent their prostitutes, smugglers, counterfeiters and other petty criminals to start new lives. It became a haven and the beating heart of a vibrant, longstanding African-American community with deep roots. And even after the city’s destruction during Hurricane Katrina, the city dances on, celebrating life…
Louisiana Swamps (USA) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Lousiana Swamps in The USA.
In the southern region of Louisiana there is a fascinating and mysterious swampland that was once the sole domain of courageous hunters and trappers. Following the construction of several large dams and water barriers that were designed to defend against catastrophic floods in the extensive delta region, a large network of smaller canals, or 'bayous', was created. Today the Louisiana swamps provide a unique habitat for both indigenous and migratory wildlife and a natural refuge far away from civilisation. Some time ago it was the mink that attracted great hordes of trappers to this region that also served as a hiding place for various bandits and pirates. The desolation of the swamps was well appreciated by those who attempted to escape from the law and they certainly possess an eerie atmosphere. However, the colourful stories of n'er do well's and legendary figures such as Bigfoot have added to the enigmatic character of this intriguing area. Thus from year to year the fascination in the Louisiana swamps continues to captivate an increasing number of visitors.

#BatonRouge lies along the banks of the legendary Mississippi River in southeast #Louisiana. It is the state’s capital and is famous for its sports-mad universities, cultural fusion and of course, laid-back southern charm.
From the days when a red stick (or Baton Rouge) marked the boundary between native tribes, to its subsequent administration by France, Britain and Spain, transformation has been built into the DNA of this city. In 1846, a stroke of the pen made it the Louisiana State Capital and since then, it has continued to grow as a city, and a vacation destination.
Mark Twain is often quoted as saying,
“Throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
And there is no better way to the catch the trade winds in your sails than with a #vacation to Baton Rouge.
We hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

American Italian Cultural Center Museum, New Orleans, Louisiana
In this video Dr. Salvatore Vinciguerra travels to New Orleans, Louisiana to visit the American Italian Cultural Center's Museum. Dr. Vinciguerra is accompanied by his Uncle Stefano Campo who shares with him how his family is a part of the museum's history. His private tour of the museum includes visiting the patio garden where a stature of Giuseppe Garibaldi is located. Giuseppe Garibaldi is one of Italy's founding fathers and helped to unify the nations to create the Kingdom of Italy.
Dr. Vinciguerra is then led upstairs to visit the museum which includes a the history of why Italians explored the New World, how they immigrated to the United States, and how they lived in the Southeastern part of the U.S. in Louisiana. The tour includes learning about the largest mass lynching in the United States that occurred of 11 Italian Americans in 1891.
Then, Dr. Vinciguerra shares the importance of music in the Italian culture and how New Orleans was the first city in the United States to have an opera house located in the French Quarter. He then describes how Italian Americans help influence Jazz and other genres of popular music.
Mardi Gras was an important holiday that many Italian celebrated as Carnevale dating back to 1904 Venice Italy and then spread to France. These traditions were then brought to New Orleans and are a very important part of the cities culture and festivities. St. Joseph's Day is a Sicilian celebration that occurs on March 19 and Dr. Vinciguerra shares with you how these special altars that honor Saint Joseph, is who Sicilians prayed to for help during a famine in Sicily many centuries ago. This tradition was also brought with many Sicilians to New Orleans which in modern times St. Joseph Alters are a way of Italian Americans giving back to many of the poor communities in the city.
The American Italian Cultural Center also houses the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and provides many services to the community by offering classes on the Italian Language and culture, as well as hosting many special events, festivals, and concerts throughout the year.

French Quarter and Cemetery Walking Tour
Sound quality is not great in the beginning and at other pockets. I'll highlight those times as well as interesting points of the tour below. An external mic with a sock would help, that's on the to-do list for futures videos :) VLog of the whole bachelor party is coming, I just need some time to pull it all together. The tour was so good, I wanted to make sure I made a chronological video that I could link to in the VLog in case someone wanted to watch it or skip through the highlights.
Starting Point: (noisy) French Market (2:51 onward is not nearly as noisy)
1:44 It's unusual for a Bachelor Party to want to talk about architecture -Steve H our tour guide :)
2:51 Sound is much better here on out; 1682 expeditions
4:25 The compressor (finally) turns off
7:52 The Louisiana Purchase... and the compressor turns on again :(
9:54 Cemetery Conduct
10:37 Camera battery dies, switch to phone recording, Cemetery Tour begins
15:24-15:32 The wind is a bit strong (the sock would have helped here)
17:55 Marie Laveau, The Voodoo Queen of New Orleans
22:37 Nicolas Cage's Tombstone [sic]
27:50 Spanish Caribbean Architecture
31:38 Bourbon Street
32:29, 32:52, 40:05 I turned the camera onto the object being discussed and the audio cut out :(
41:07 The volume is low for a moment
42:29 Wrap up with Bienville and the English Turn

The Rise and Fall of the Tremé Neighborhood
Directly adjacent to the French Quarter in New Orleans, the Tremé is the oldest African-American neighborhood in the United States, as well as the birthplace of jazz music. Tremé's influence on broader American culture can't be overstated, and its people have surmounted numerous challenges over the last three hundred years, including social upheaval following the Civil War, racist legislation during the 20th century, and more recently the implacable march of urban gentrification.

New Orleans - Tour of Lower 9th Ward NOLA - 5/30/13
Tour of the Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans, LA. This is one of the poorest yet culturally significant wards (neighborhoods) in the entire city and was the scene of utter devastation following Hurricane Katrina. Much of the neighborhood still has the scars of Katrina. Was surprised at how much they have rebuilt. They are still rebuilding and they have done their best to return the historical neighborhood to some sense of normalcy. Please keep the people of NOLA in your thoughts and prayers. It is an amazing city and full of unique culture. Had a great time and I cannot wait to go back!
Special appearance by one of Fats Domino's original band members. Legendary drummer Smokey Johnson is in front of his home and gives everyone a wave. Smokey is a Lower 9th Ward & Jazz Music Icon in NOLA. Thank you to cajunencounters.com for the fun and educational tour of the city.
