20 Things to do in Kiev, Ukraine Travel Guide Video Script:
This week we’re showing you around Kiev, Ukraine. This was our first time travelling to the country, so we hardly knew what to expect, though we did have an inkling we’d find churches with onion domes, borsht on every menu, and very cheap prices, but that was it!
Well, we found some of that, but we also discovered a fascinating city with ornate architecture, massive Soviet monuments, a completely new cuisine, more churches and monasteries than we ever thought possible, and friendly people despite the language barrier.
The following is our travel guide to the city. Now let us share with you 20 things to do in Kiev on your next visit!
And that’s a wrap for our visit to Kiev! This was our first time travelling in Ukraine, but we were hooked right from the start.
This destination felt very underrated with few tourists around, yet we were surrounded by beautiful architecture, there were churches galore to visit, the cuisine was hearty and filling, and everything was super affordable.
If you are thinking of travelling to Kiev, we hope this video was able to give you a taste of what it’s like.
If you have any other suggestions of things to do in Kiev, that we may have missed, feel free to share your tips and suggestions with travellers in the comments.
This is part of our Travel in Ukraine video series showcasing Ukrainian food, Ukrainian culture & cuisine.

Hey! We're Olivia & Nathan, a couple from California, on a mission to travel to 100 countries!
In 2016, with enough money to last us 6 months, we took a chance and booked 2 one-way tickets across the world. We planned on living in Australia for 1 year - but that turned into 3. And then touring Europe after turned into let's see 100 countries!
We had a dream of traveling the world full-time so we developed skills to work online (& saved a lot while working) to be able to live the life we do now.
In 2019 we created this YouTube channel to share what we learn along the way. And help other people (especially our fellow Americans) travel more often! ????
Nathan has lived more than half of his life abroad (France, Italy, Cambodia, Germany.) And Olivia, before living in Australia, traveled to far, far away lands like DisneyLand and Hawaii.
Whether you're new to travel or are an experienced OG, travel is the best education and we hope to share that with you guys. ❤️

How much is it to travel in Ukraine
As you may have guessed from the topic of the article we are going to talk about how much is it to travel in Ukraine. Well, everything depends on several factors:
1. Where are you from;
2. Your Destination;
3. Accommodations;
4. Food and drinks;
Accommodations
At this point, everything is also very individual and depends on the importance of comfort for you. In light of this, there are following options to stay.
If you are one of this people who need daily service and the ability to order room service, you, definitely, have to put at a hotel, but this option is very expensive.
You can rent an apartment from Airbnb website. It is very easy. Renting is cheaper, but as for me, much more comfortable. You have your home – a corner where you can make a meal by yourself.
By the way, usually there are much more space in an apartment than in a hotel room.
On the same Airbnb, the function of renting a single room in an apartment is also available. Of course, you will need to share bathroom with other visitors but you are saving your money.
Hostels are also becoming popular among tourists in Ukraine. Mostly students use this type of housing, but it is justified. You are coming to enjoy the city not the apartment.
Food & drinks
Well, if you are a traveler, then there is no compromise when it comes to sit in a cafe and enjoy national dishes. Feel the atmosphere of the city and its inhabitants; listen to unfamiliar speech – free impressions. You can find more information about the national Ukrainian food on our website.
Average price for 2 days in Kiev
Usually people make small trips over the weekends, and most travelers would like to see the capital of the country, so let`s sum everything up and count how much is it to spend the weekend in Kiev.
Day 1 – Friday
1. Transfer. You arrive in Kiev in the morning, and you need to get to the city center or place you have decided to stay. You can:
• catch the bus – about 4 USD ;
• take a cab – about 20 USD ;

• Room in the apartment – about 40 USD for weekend;
• Bed in a hostel – about 20 USD for weekend.
3. Now you have taken the shower and had rest after the flight and I am sure you are hungry. Well, it is time to:

• Make a meal by yourself - about 40 USD (it is enough for the whole weekend)
4. It`s time to explore the city. Most of the sights in Kiev are free. However, you have to pay for museums or cathedrals visiting.
• Be ready to spend about 10-20 USD
If you still don`t know what to see in Kiev you can find this information on our web site.
5. You are probably tired of walking around the city, but full of positive emotions. It`s time to have lunch. You can:
• eat something you`ve made
• take a meal at a restaurant – average bill is still about 20 USD
6. I am sure you haven`t seen everything yet, so let`s continue to explore the capital. If you are tired of walking, it is possible to use public transport:
• Subway, bus or tram – about 0, 5 USD for one trip
• Cab – about 5 USD for one trip
7. It`s already the evening, which means that the nightlife begins soon. If you like parties and nightclubs – Kiev has everything to impress you.
• Visiting of some clubs is free, but mostly it`s about 5 USD
• Average bill in the club is about 25-30 USD
Day 2 – Saturday
1. I am sure you had some fun last night, didn`t you? Now it`s a good time to relax. There are many places in Kiev, where you can get high-quality SPA.

The name if topic seems like the name of my blog, But anyway, a lot of guys ask me What to visit in Ukraine?, Which place do you suggest to visit in Ukraine, so I decided to write this article and describe shortly al places which you can visit. And you can choose just the most attractive for you.
First of all you need to understand that Ukraine is very big and there are a lot of different places. I mean that there are wooden mountains, Black sea, Asovian sea, big cities, small cities, villages, lakes, kind of desert.... So for people who love mountains, skiing, hiking, I can suggest one places, and for people who love big cities and architecture - another places. Anyway, now I am going to gice you some ideas what to visit in Ukraine
Kyiv
Of course in any country you need to visit the capital. The capital of Ukraine is Kyiv. What to visit in Kyiv?
St.Michael Cathedral, St. Sophia Cathedral. Those two Cathedrals are 1000 years old, they are one of the best cathedral's I've ever seen. If you have never been in orthodox churches, you definitely need ot visit them. St. Michaels cathedral has free entrance, but for Sophia you will need to pay around 5$. Both of them are located in downtown, not far from each other.

Andrew's Descent. This is very historical and famous street in Kyiv. If you love architecture - this place must be the first in your list. But even if you are not interested in architecture so much, there are a lot of street sellers and you can buy some souvenirs, pictures, interesting gifts for your friends. It's street of theatres, restaurants, museums.
Peyzazhna Alleya (Kyiv Fashion Park). Very creative and unique place in Kyiv. There are so many creative modern sculptures. Great place to take a cool pictures. And also you will have opportunity to see the downtown of Kyiv from the high point. It's located near Andrew's Descent.
Museum of WW2. This museum has a very big territory, so you can walking just outside. The most important destination - The statue of Mother Motherland - one of the highest statue in the world. Also you can visit museum inside and find a lot of interesting things, if you are interested in war topic.
Shevchenko Park. It's a great park in the downtown. There are a lot of interesting art things, like benches, statues etc.. In warm season there are lot of people, children, students.. It's great place to relax, make new friends, have a rest and enjoy Kyiv.
Vozdvyzhenka. This is historical area in the downtown, which was totally rebuilt 10 years ago. You can see totally new houses in style of 19 century of Kyiv. You can feel the spirit of old Kyiv, take an awesome pictures and relax in the summer, because this place is surrounded by wooden hills.
Arsenalna subway station. This is the deepest subway station in the world. I would suggest you to visit all subway station in downtown and see how do the look. You pay just once when you enter to the subway and you can spent even the whole day there. So if you have a lot of time and don't have a lot of money - you can enjoy Kyiv's subway.
Arch of Friendship of Nations. Very famous place located in the downtown of Kyiv with great view into the Dnipro river.
Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra - one of the oldest church in Kyiv, with very luxurious interior.
Botanique garden. It's a very big park in Kyiv with a great view into old city and Dnipro river. But the best time to visit it is spring, summer and early fall.
Mamaeva sloboda. It's green park with elements of Ukrainian folk houses, churches.
Pyrogiv. Museum near the Kyiv where you can see all traditional houses of Ukrainians from different region. You can see people in national clothes and try Ukrainian national food.
Mystetsky Arsenal. Art gallery where you can always find some interesting exhibition and spend 3-4 hours educating yourself.
Mariinsky park. Great place in the downtown which looks so good in the green time.
Dream Town. This is huge shopping center where every section is built in different style: Chinese with Chinese restaurant, Italian with Italian restaurants, Brazilian, French, Japanese etc...
Ocean plaza. It's shopping mall with the huge aquarium inside. Some people say that it's the biggest in Europe.
Lavina mall. The biggest shopping mall in Ukraine with singing fountains inside, with entertainment park and thousands of shops and restaurants.

Ukraine Train Ride (1st Class) from Kiev to Lviv travel vlog
Join us for train ride in Ukraine as we travel in first class from Kiev to Lviv in this travel vlog. After leaving our apartment in Kiev we took the metro to the main train station and then had quite a bit of time to kill. When we boarded the train we were really happy we bought a first class ticket as it gave us lots of room to stretch out, sleep, get caught up on work and just overall feel comfortable as we enjoyed the complimentary tea service. Upon arriving in Lviv our AirBNB host picked us up and after dropping off our bags in the apartment we went out for a dinner that included Ukrainian dumplings.

Ukraine Train Ride (1st Class) from Kiev to Lviv travel vlog transcript:
Hello. It is almost time to check out of our apartment here in Kiev (Киев). Our host is going to be coming any minute. Any minute. We have to finish packing up. Like what happened to the what we had 9 nights just boom. We had over a week here. That is one of the fastest stays we've ever had anywhere. The time just flew by. We were tired, we also had a lot of work to do and we also just really enjoyed being here.
Two stops to the train station. Let's go. But there is going to be a nice long escalator ride to get to the platform. Yeah. These escalators here in Kyiv (Київ) are epic.
So we've made it to the train station. Tickets in hand. And we've just looked at the departure board. I would like to point out that is the worst departure board I've ever seen in my life. First of all the letters are like bright red and neon green. And you stare at it for like 3 seconds and it starts blinding you.
Our train is leaving in about a half hour so we're back in the station. We are platform 2. Now we just have to find that. It is quite a grand station I must say. It is beautiful.
We've got our seats and what is really cool is we upgraded to 1st class. It wasn't that much more. We'll let you know the price of the ticket a little bit later on. If you take a look over here you can see how it has different classes. If it was second class there would be 6 people but because it is only first there is 4 of us and that gives us lots of rooms for our baggage. We'll show you as we go in. That is where we are sitting. We have basically those 3 seats on the bottom.
Alright, so now would be a good time to talk about the tickets. And it is noisy. The train is just taking off. Anyways, we paid just over 500 which is about roughly $20 US dollars and this is for the fastest train possible to Lviv (Львів). And it takes about five hours and forty minutes so we're going to be on here for a little while. But it is quite comfortable. I'm glad that we paid for 1st class because we're going to be able to get some work done. Apparently, there is tea service so hopefully we get that too.
And just like that we've been teleported to our apartment here in Lviv (Львів). Um, so yeah we arrived right on time. Our AirBNB host was waiting for us at the train station. We hopped in his car and he drove us here which is so rare. No one has ever picked us up. Which was super awesome.
Um but yeah we're really really hungry so we are going to save the apartment tour for another day. Another video. Right now we need dinner. Let's go. We'll take you along for food though.
So we are staying in a super residential neighborhood so there are not a whole lot of restaurants around but we found a hotel and they have a restaurant. So we're in here. Right now we are the only guests. The last couple just left but they have like all of these animals. Looking at me everywhere. Look. There is a cow looking at you.
Food is here. Food is here. I'm so hungry. Like I said I was water fasting earlier on. 24 hours without food so I'm ready to eat. This is varenyky. The Ukrainian dumplings. They are delicious.
And this is it. We're ending off the video. We're tired. We are really excited to be in this city (Lviv) and we look forward to sharing some videos with you guys soon. But for now goodnight.
This is part of our Travel in Ukraine video series showcasing Ukrainian food, Ukrainian culture and Ukrainian cuisine.

How Kiev, Ukraine INSPIRED Me | Travel VLOG
This is a budget travel vlog of how Kiev, Ukraine (the New York of Eastern Europe) inspired me. A city of monuments, rich historical background, and a driven people who have fought for their freedom and independence, Kyiv has inspired me to the core of my heart and soul. I only spent a week exploring this city with my Ukrainian friends, Andrew & Kris but my time here was found with such a warm connection. I will try to quantify what I felt and transfer it into a future ukrainian music inspired creation or song on this channel. Until then, here is me vlogging in Kiev what I explored from The Motherland Monument to The settlers of Kiev.

Ukraine Travel Guide – Watch before going to Kiev (Kyiv) – Is it safe to travel to Kiev?
In this video we will cover Kyiv, Kiev travel, things to do in Kyiv and more on Ukraine. Kiev tourism is growing but there is still a lot that can surprise even the well-travelled tourist. This will help you plan your itinerary for Ukraine travel and will include Kiev must see places, Ukrainian food and Kiev restaurants, Kiev museums, Kiev shopping and Kiev cathedral.
So, you’ve decided to go to Kyiv!
Initially, I was only going to Kiev to visit Chernobyl, but ended up falling in love with the city. Here’s the rundown and a list of what do to in Kiev, one of the most beautiful cities I have visited in Eastern Europe.
The residents of Kiev are extremely friendly, although communication was a little difficult for us. We did find a lot of Kiev residents were not able to speak English, which did make small things such as ordering food, getting from the metro station or taxis interesting, but no more difficult than other non-English speaking countries.
Ukraine has its own currency called Hryvnia, which can easily be withdrawn from local ATMs or converted ideally from Euros or USD. Kiev is a relatively cheap city to visit when you compare it to the rest of Eastern and Western Europe. For example, a bottle of beer in Rome is 4 euro, and an average price for a bottle of beer in Kiev is 1.4 euro. We definitely found eating out at local Ukrainian resturants really affordable, which was a real treat because their local cuisine is delicious. Our dinners were the most expensive meals for us and would generally cost us around 20 to 25 euros for a 3-course meal, but you can easily have a nice budget meal for 5 – 7 euros.
When it comes to accommodation, just like anywhere in Europe, you can find budget and expensive hotels. We stayed in close to the main square in an apartment-style hotel that cost approximately 60 euro a night, and it was beautiful! It had a unique entry that was original to the building, and the room was very modern and had a sauna. We visited in Winter, so having a sauna in the room was perfect. Hotels range from 5 to 10 euros for a 1 to 2-star room, 10 to 50 euro for a 3 to 4-star room, and 50 to 100 euro on average for a 5-star room.
Kiev is full of wide streets and grand buildings, full of details and colour, which was a complete surprise to us. It’s known as the city of domes, and you can definitely see why! The city has many beautiful cathedrals and churches, and we definitely a must see! It’s worthwhile visiting them as they look very different from churches and cathedrals in the rest of Europe.
The ones we would recommend are: Saint Andrews Church, which completed construction in 1747 and boasts beautiful green and gold details; Saint Sophia Cathedral is one of the city’s best-known landmarks and the first heritage site in Ukraine; and Saint Michaels Monastry, which is still a functioning monastery in Kiev and can’t be missed with its light-blue exterior and gold domes.

KIEV ???????? UKRAINE, 2019
KIEV - It is the center of Ukrainian culture, full of theaters, museums, religious sites, modern buildings and ancient ruins.
According to a legend in the Tale of Bygone Years, Kiev was founded by three brothers Kiy, Schek and Khoriv and sister Lybed as the center of the Polyana tribe and named after their older brother.
In 1982, Kiev turned 1,500 years old.
We had just a few hours at this amazing city. Any way, in this video, you can see famous places as:
1. Golden Gates;
2. Khreschatyk;
3. Maidan;
4. Sofia Kiev;
5. St. Michael's Golden-Domed monastery.
Let's go walk by Kiev ☺️
