Lewis and Clark Confluence Tower Monument in Hartford IL
We took a trip over to Hartford IL to look at the new Lewis and Clark Confluence Tower that just opened to the public. The tower was built to commemorate the starting point of the epic journey westward by Lewis and Clark. The tower has observation decks at 50 ft, 100ft, and 150ft off the ground. From the tower, you can see the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. We were only able to look at the outside this time because of our late arrival. We'll return at another time to give you the million dollar view from the top. Thanks for watching.
Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower
The Lewis and Clark Confluence Tower is a 180-foot-tall (55 m) tower on the Illinois bank of the Mississippi River. The tower complements the Lewis and Clark historical site, about one mile to the south, where the Lewis and Clark expedition made winter camp, On the way to Missouri. The tower has platforms at 50, 100, and 150 feet, providing a good view of the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Downtown St.Louis and the Gateway Arch can also be seen from the tower. The tower contains two legs joined by viewing platforms, with an elevator in one leg and stairs in the other. Its construction, lasting from 2002 to 2010, was funded by $5 million from local and state sources. Please subscribe to my channel. Lewis and Clark Confluence Tower Monument Part 2 - The view from the top - 150FT
Just a little look around from the top observation platform of the new Lewis and Clark Confluence Tower Monument. You can see the outside of the tower in my other vid from a few days ago. Not the greatest vid, with all the wind and everything, but at least you get to see what the view is like from 150 ft up. There are observation platforms at 50 ft, 100ft, and 150ft and there is an elevator to take you to each of course. Hope you enjoy the view, thanks for watching.
