Live feeding at Siberian Tiger Conservation Park - Harbin, China
Zookeepers deliver a live calf for tigers.
Feeding live prey can counter the loss of hunting skills of carnivores and improve the animals' well-being. However, feeding enrichments have to strike a balance between optimal living conditions of animals and the quality of visitor experience. Researches show that such a balance can be found, especially when live feeding of mammals is carried out on-exhibit. A good interpretation of food enrichment might help zoos to win more support for the issue, and for re-introduction programs and conservation.

Dalian Forest Zoo - Leopard Getting Live Chicken
This video was taken at the Dalian Forest Zoo. For 10 RMB (just over $1.40) you can feed meat eating animals (wolves, African hunting dogs, leopards, tigers, and lions) a raw chicken. For 100 RMB (just over $14.00) you can feed those animals a live chicken.
This video is not for the faint of heart. It is quite cruel in the fact that the chicken is being tangled on the string to intentionally taunt the leopards into jumping up in the air. Further, electric fencing is in place so that the leopards don't jump to high but this also means the chicken is constantly electrocuted.
However, I did appreciate the leopard's ingenuity in using the glass wall separating the audience from itself as a jumping platform.

Feeding lions with chicken at Dalian Zoo, China
Some visitors to the Dalian Zoo in China bought some chicken and fed the lions. We thought they would fight over the chicken but actually they were well fed and turned out that this event was the biggest anti-climax ever. The lion just casually took it away and ate it quietly.
Oh well, leave comments on whether you think the Zoo should allow visitors to buy feed to help with their operating costs?

China zoo: feeding one animal to another for 5 euros
REPORT: China's widely trumpeted harmonious society has little space for animal rights. Some 80 zoos and safari parks across the country offer visitors a gruesome perk: paying to feed live animals to hungry predators.

A kid throws fresh chicken at a pen of tigers in Dalian Zoo, China
A kid throws fresh chicken into a pen of tigers at the Dalian Zoo in China. My video is pretty tame actually. The tiger nonchalantly catches the chicken in its mouth and walks off quietly to eat it.
My video has a link to another video filmed by some guys who threw a live chicken into a pen of coyotes. What do you guys think? Should the Zoo be allowed to sell (live) feed to help with its operating costs and allow visitors to feed the animals? Leave you comments below.
Ocean Park in Dalian Greets Ten Sea Lion Newborns in August
An ocean park in northeast China's Dalian City has been busy with delivering sea lion babies since August. With just 26 days, ten sea lion babies have come to the world.
The ten newborns are all in good health and learning swimming skills with their mother.
This year we saw ten sea lions bred successfully. That is the biggest number of artificial breeding in China. The newborns will be a great help to variety of species and enlargement to our gene pool, said Liu Yuan, veterinarian at Dalian Laohutan Ocean Park.
Every July and August is the breeding season of sea lions. The Dalian Laohutan Ocean Park, as the largest breeding base for South America sea lions, have successfully bred 70 sea lions since 2005.
