UK election: Tories fight for survival in Scotland
The Conservative Party is desperately trying to hang on to parliamentary seats in Scotland, pushing hard for Brexit and against another referendum on independence from the UK.
Convincing Scots that Brexit is a good idea is proving difficult - even in normally loyal conservative parts of the country.

Glasgow gangster Eddie Lyons ordered to pay £24k after dirty money probe
Crime boss Eddie Lyons has been told to pay to an extra £24,000 following a dirty money probe. The order was made against the 61-year-old following a hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court. Lyons had been found guilty of a £259,000 mortgage fraud in 2010. He was spared jail and ordered to hand over £75,000 under Proceeds of Crimes laws in 2012. Prosecutors warned at the time they would go after the gangland figure if more cash became available. It later emerged a house in Dundee that Lyons had an interest in had recently been sold. The property was registered in the name of his daughter Ashley. Court papers stated: This property was subsequently sold in February 2019 for £38,000. The proceeds of the sale were received by Edward Lyons. After legal talks, prosecutor Gavin White and Lyons' lawyer Paul McCormick agreed the crime boss would hand over a further £24,333. Lyons, of Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, was present at the hearing as the order was formally made by Sheriff Paul Crozier. The proceeds of crime case arises after Lyons pled guilty 10 years ago to lying about his earnings on mortgage forms. He was eventually sentenced to 300 hours of community service. The then Sheriff Robert Anthony QC told him: As far as I'm concerned, you are a first offender and a man of mature years, who has never caused any trouble to society. The Lyons family have been in a long-term feud with the rival Daniel clan. Six men were jailed for a total of 104 years in May 2019 following a gangland murder plot involving the crews. INVERNESS (SCOTLAND), EXPLORING the CALEDONIAN CANAL ????, an amazing engineering marvel
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's take a tour of one of man's most incredible engineering accomplishments, the Caledonian Canal which connects the Scottish east coast at Inverness with the west coast at Corpach near Fort William. Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. The Caledonian Canal connects the Scottish east coast at Inverness with the west coast at Corpach near Fort William in Scotland. The canal was constructed in the early nineteenth century by Scottish engineer Thomas Telford, and is a sister canal of the Göta Canal in Sweden, also constructed by Telford.
Scotland, the U.K.’s northernmost country, is a land of mountain wildernesses such as the Cairngorms and Northwest Highlands, interspersed with glacial glens (valleys) and lochs (lakes). Its major cities are Edinburgh, the capital, with its iconic hilltop castle, and Glasgow, famed for its vibrant cultural scene. Scotland is also famous for golf, the game first played at the Old Course at St Andrews in the 1400s.
