Lullingstone Castle Tom Hart Dyke interview. Part One.
After his kidnap in Columbia and then a television documentary following his attempts to save his family home Tom Hart Dyke is settling down to the day to day running of Lullingstone Castle and it's beautiful gardens. Julie Maddocks caught up with him in the cactus house.
Lullingstone Castle.
Flight over Lullingstone Castle, the lake, and The World Garden. A fresh dull grey day, but the scenery was as beautiful as ever. I was on the lookout for the Spitfire which fly's over daily, also had some nice friendly chats with some local's who were out for a stroll with their dogs. All in all, a very enjoyable and relaxing morning.

Eynsford Castle Kent explored
Here I take a look around the ancient ruins of the Early Norman Castle of Eynsford in Kent.
The substantial flint stone curtain wall with moat were constructed around 1085 - 1087 probably by William de Eynsford, a knight & sheriff of Kent on an earlier Saxon structure. The defences were further strengthened & the curtain wall raised to 10 metres in the late 11th or early 12th century & a hall & associated buildings were erected inside the castle walls.
Ransaked in 1312 the castle was subsequently abandoned.
During the mid-18th century Eynsford Castle was used for stabling & the kennelling of hunting hounds for the Hart Dyke family for the estate at Lullingstone Castle...........

WALKING IN KENT | EYNSFORD
I was joined by Candice again on our 5th date together, for a 5 mile walk in and around Eynsford in Kent. This walk had loads of history, including 2 castles, a church and even a Roman Villa! It followed a section of the Darent Valley Path with views of the River Darent and some stretches of woodland walking through Lullingstone Park.

Lullingstone Roman Villa and Eynsford Castle
We had an amazing family day out today, making the most of my nephews being on half term. They absolutely adore Leonie and I love spending time with them ????
We used our English Heritage membership card to explore the Lullingstone Roman Villa and Eynsford Castle. It’s incredible to think these buildings have survived all these years and definitely educational.

LULLINGSTONE PARK, DARENT VALLEY PATH AND EYNSFORD CASTLE - Hiking
A contrast between hidden valleys in the North Downs and the Darent Valley Path through three interesting villages (Eynsford, Otford and Shoreham).
Distance: 18 km
Grading: Medium
Rating: 5 out of 10
Ascent: 400m
Hiking time: About 5 to 6 hours of actual hiking
On our plan for today we will visit the Eynsford Castle.
It starts along a country lane through the secluded Austin Lodge valley, climbing to the isolated settlement of Romney Street.
It continues on an undulating section to a ridge with fine views of the Darent valley, from where you descend into Otford, passing its scale model of the Solar System. The village has many interesting old buildings and the route takes you past the ruins of Otford Palace.
After passing extensive lavender fields at Castle Farm an attractive riverside stretch leads to Lullingstone Castle.
