We had a wonderful day at Lime park, This country house is one of the most famous in England, the film and TV industry have used the backdrop , where Darcy meets Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice ,Its on the A6, six and a half miles south east of Stockport,(M60 exit 1), hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did !

Shame that the propellers got in a few of the shots but there was a bit of a head wind.

It is a very windy day when I decide to visit Lyme Park in Cheshire. I explore the grounds of this park, which includes the exterior of Lyme Hall, once used as a filming location in an adaptation of a certain famous Jane Austin story. My walk also explores the nearby moors of the Peak District, which surround this lavish park…..
Filmed in the Peak District in the county of Cheshire. Locations around Lyme Park include Lyme Hall, the Cage, the Lantern, the Bow Stones, Cluse Hay and Hase Bank Wood.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
Any other names credited in this film, i.e. Bob Morgan and Martin Roy, are pseudonyms, which I used at the time of making this film. However, I no longer use these pseudonyms as I want viewers to be clear that my films are completely my own work.

Lyme Park is a large estate located south of Disley, Cheshire. The estate is managed by the National Trust and consists of a mansion house surrounded by formal gardens, in a deer park in the Peak District National Park.

A very well put together house rather large but very intresting as you make your way round it, we had just finished and going to the courtyard and the fire alarm sounded and everyone had to be evacuated from the house, see last photo.

Bow Stones, Lyme Park, Disley
HD footage of the Bow Stones, just south of Lyme Park, Disley. This video shows the approach from Sweet Hill, part of the Gritstone Trail.
The Bow Stones are two up-right stones on the highest part of the moorland above Lyme Park. The origins of these stones is unknown, but it has been suggested that they had some religious significance. They have always given rise to discussion amongst historians and others as to their origins and importance. In Lyme Hall itself, there are two Anglo-Saxon Crosses which were found near the parish church. In the churchyard there is a stone block in which there are two holes which is believed to be the base of the crosses. From a view finder plaque (presented by the Society for the Protection of Rural England in 1975) near the Bow Stones, it is possible to see seven counties (Cheshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Clwyd, Yorkshire, Shropshire and Lancashire).
