Spirits of Maryland - Baltimore Museum of Industry - 6/26/2017
Monika Horizons and I attended the Spirits of Maryland event at The Baltimore Museum of Industry on Sunday, June 25th. This outdoor event featured live music from Ted Garber, light appetizers, and plenty of rum, whiskey, vodka, gin, and liqueurs from all over Maryland.
This was an all-you-can-taste event, but if we’d attempted to taste even half of what was there, we would have ended up in the hospital. I had no idea there were so many distilleries in Maryland! Granted, some of them just started up in the past month, but I literally didn’t sample anything that wasn’t top-notch and didn’t taste like it came from a world-class outfit. I’m a huge gin and vodka snob, and I was legitimately impressed with some of the unique and creative recipes that made these brands stand out from your standard top shelf spirits.
Distilleries in attendance:
• Baltimore Whiskey Company - Baltimore City
• Blackwater Distilling - Queen Anne’s County
• Dragon Distillery - Frederick City
• Gray Wolf Craft Distilling - Talbot County
• Lost Ark Distilling Co - Howard County
• Lyon Distilling - Talbot County
• McClintock Distilling - Frederick City
• MISCellaneous Distillery - Carroll County
• Old Line Spirits - Baltimore City
• Patapsco Distilling - Carroll County
• Sagamore Spirit - Baltimore City

Maryland Rye Whiskey Antique Collection
Song from 100 years ago: The Heart You Lost In Maryland, You'll Find In Tennessee... It's amazing how many different distilleries and whiskey brands Maryland once had that have all been lost.
If you're interested in Maryland whiskey history I recommend watching this video in high definition and slow motion so you can see all the labels clearly.
Maryland was once a big time whiskey producer and from the 1800's to the mid 1900's there were dozens of distilleries throughout Maryland making hundreds of different brands of whiskey. In the early 1970's the last Maryland whiskey distillery shut its doors and only recently within the last few years several new distilleries have opened and they are once again making whiskey in the state of Maryland.
All of these shot glasses, bottles, and labels were made in the late 1800's to the mid 1900's except for two new Maryland whiskey bottles to the right on the barrel. The first few pages of labels are all from pre-prohibition times(1919 and before). It's the largest collection of Maryland whiskey labels I've ever seen after purchasing several small collections and putting them all together. I'm always looking for more! I PAY TOP DOLLAR! Please post any questions, comments, or offers for old Maryland whiskey stuff. Hope you like the collection! Thanks for watching!

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.
