MFO PARK I BURCKHARDT+PARTNER I A WALK THROUGH IN 4K
MFO Park in Zürich is the fourth episode of the Fourth Wall series about architecture in video.
I really loved the project and the concept, it´s a shame the day I shot this was not a bit sunnier. But architecture stays there everyday, and is worth it even in cloudy and rainy days!
I hope you enjoy the video. Don´t forget to subscribe... and THANK YOU for watching!

MFO-Park
• 2004: MAX on top Wien, Freiraum 02, 2. Platz
• 2004: Play & Leisure Award Friedrichshafen
• 2003: Public design-Preis Düsseldorf
• 2003: BDLA-Preis (Bund deutscher Landschaftsarchitekten) - Würdigung

ARCHITECTURE: MFO-Park Zurich
MFO-Park is on a former industrial siten in the northern part of Zurich which has been converted into a new neighborhood. It was designed by Burckhardt Partner and Aubort Raderschall landscape designers and opened in 2002. The big steel frame is gradually overgrown by creepers and other plants. People suffering from heights should perhaps not climb on it but for all the others it is a great and unusual urban experience.
Edited to the tunes of Duelling Banjos by Eric Weissberg from the movie Deliverance.

Zurich Travel Guide - Unforgettable Switzerland Dreams
Zurich Travel Guide - Unforgettable Switzerland Dreams
Zurich (German: Zürich, Zürich German: Züri) is the largest city in Switzerland, with a population of some 390,000 in the city proper and 1.2 million in the agglomeration area. Zurich is on Lake Zurich, where the lake flows into the River Limmat , in the north of Switzerland. Zurich is the largest city of the Swiss Confederation (Switzerland) by land area and population. It is the financial center of Switzerland and houses the stock exchange and the headquarters of a large number of national and international companies, and also home of FIFA's headquarters.
You also find Google's world-wide second largest development center in Zurich. Because Zurich is the central node of the Swiss-wide train network and also runs the biggest and busiest international airport in the country, it generally is the first place where tourists arrive. Because of the city's close distance to tourist resorts in the Swiss Alps and its mountainous scenery, it is often referred to as the portal to the Alps.
Contrary to a generally wrongly made assumption, Zurich is not the capital of Switzerland -- the Swiss are very much a confederation of Cantons and avoid naming any one city as capital in order to prevent that Canton from seeming more important than the others. Still, the federal government is headquartered in Berne and not Zurich. Zurich has long been known for being clean and efficient. Due to this, it has been continuously ranked as the city with the highest living standard world-wide for many years. However, only for the last fifteen years it has truly become a fascinating and worthwhile travel destination. This is mostly thanks to the liberalization of the party (more than 80 clubs are open at weekends) and gastronomy sectors (over 500 bars and more than 1500 restaurants). An increasingly cosmopolitan population has helped (every third inhabitant is a foreigner), as well, though more button-down Geneva remains Switzerland's most culturally heterogeneous city. Zurich always used to be well known for a demanding audience in opera/ballet, classical concerts, and theater. You find more than 50 museums and over 100 galleries in a inner city circle.
Zürich is famous for its highly efficient, clean and safe public transport system, owned by the several municipal transport agencies and managed by the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV), which covers the entire canton of Zürich, plus some municipalities in bordering cantons for the passenger's convenience (in fact the 18x fare zones and some stops in zone 155). The network includes trams, buses (local city/municipality buses as well as the yellow bright Swiss PostAuto buses), suburban trains (S-Bahn), regular trains (SBB), cable cars and boats.
The quintessential Zürich dish is Zürigeschnätzlets, chopped veal in a cream and wine sauce, normally served with Rösti. Various kinds of grilled Würste (sausages, singular: Wurst) are also popular. These are most often accompanied by boiled potatoes, or Rösti, a kind of hash-browns, just much better (boiled potatoes then grated, then pan fried in butter until crisp) or Chnöpfli (small noodle dumplings, in Germany called Spätzle).
Zurich is the financial centre of Switzerland and most travellers come with an expense account. The hospitality sector focuses therefore mostly on the 4 and 5 star hotels. Zurich is known for its superb hotels, but these won't come cheap. Best is to go on a company rate, because rack rates are sometimes ridiculous.

Lyrics:
This is a song about universal pigs,
They're a bit different from the pigs you might know,
Here they go.
When the sheep eats the wolf,
Then the chicken plays golf.
Those pigs do bark,
As you might remark.
And as the swine flu flew
For the bird flu fly.
If the cat was a cow,
It would not make meow.
I guess you were right,
Those pigs are universal.

12 Districts (Kreis) of Zurich (Largest City of Switzerland)
12 Districts (Kreis) of Zurich (Largest City of Switzerland)
By the lake, on the hillside, fashionable, multicultural, or in the heart of the Old Town: these are Zurich’s urban districts.
Zurich has a total of 12 districts, known as “Kreis” in German. Each comprises between one and four quarters or neighborhoods, making 34 in all. Below you can find out more about how the districts differ from one another and what is particularly characteristic of each one.
District 1.
Old Town, City Center.
The most central district encompasses the historical Old Town on both banks of the River Limmat, as well as the area to the south bordering on the lake basin. It is home to the prestigious Bahnhofstrasse, magnificent guild houses, imposing churches, and the famous Opera House. The best view of District 1 is to be had from the top of the Karlsturm tower.
District 2.
Left Shore of the Lake.
The architecturally attractive Enge Train Station built out of Ticino granite, the Museum Rietberg with its beautiful park, the Seebad Enge lido, and the Rote Fabrik give this district a Mediterranean feel.
District 3.
Creative Quarter of Wiedikon.
Once mainly a working-class neighborhood, the district below the Uetliberg is now a popular residential area with cozy cafés, boutiques, and vintage stores. The Houdini movie theater also lies on Wiedikon territory.
District 4.
Creative Quarter of Langstrasse.
The district around Langstrasse was long regarded as a den of iniquity. Nowadays, it is known for its diverse restaurants and never-sleeping nightlife, with bars such as the Olé and the Club Zukunft.
District 5.
Creative Quarter of Zürich-West.
In the quarter where huge machines once clattered away, now nightclubs, cultural institutions, and universities cluster around the Prime Tower. Converted structures such as the Viadukt and designer stores like the Freitag Tower give the neighborhood its characteristic trendy atmosphere.
District 6.
University Quarter.
University buildings, Jugendstil villas, green areas, and the Dynamo cultural center characterize Zurich’s District 6. Thanks to its tranquility and closeness to the city center, it is a much sought-after residential area.
District 7.
On the Zürichberg.
The hillside location, little traffic, and fabulous views mean than living here does not come cheap. Neighbors include Zurich Zoo and the luxury hotel, The Dolder Grand.
District 8.
Right Shore of the Lake.
This district starts behind the Opera House and stretches as far as the open-air bathing facility, Seebad Tiefenbrunnen. It features boutiques, villas, the Chinawiese recreational area, and the Seebad Utoquai outdoor swimming bath.
District 9.
At the Foot of the Uetliberg.
For a long time, this district was solely known for the Letzigrund Stadium. In recent years, however, the quarter around Altstetten has become THE place to be, with creative club and gastronomy concepts.
District 10.
Right of the Limmat.
This district boasts a fantastic location: in summer, everyone meets at the Unterer Letten and Oberer Letten riverside lidos to swim and bask in the sun. In addition, the view over Zurich from the Waid quarter is unbeatable.
District 11.
Zürich Nord.
The close vicinity to the airport, the Hallenstadion indoor stadium where sports and music events are held, and the MFO-Park are the highlights of the Zurich’s northernmost district, which also offers plenty of space for public works of art.
District 12.
Schwamendingen.
Schwamendingen, with its many green areas, lies in the north-east of Zurich. This district, which was not incorporated into the City of Zurich until 1934, has retained much of its village character. Its closeness to the Zürichberg makes it particularly popular among walkers, joggers, and children.

Lyrics:
Maria, Maria
Maria, Maria
Maria's walking circles,
Left alone in shade,
Maria's afraid of tomorrow,
Hope there'll be no change.
Sun has gone - dawn is here.
Maria, Maria
Maria, Maria
You were playing for too long
And they were playing with you,
Take the step out of this room,
Here the draught does reign.
Don't stand still, or you'll freeze.
Da ga doo bip pown
Ooh ooh ooh brr tuck
Da ga doo bip pown, suba
Bip bap boo bap pow
Maria, Maria
Maria, Maria
Maria's sitting in the dark,
She's looking out the window,
Maria never understood
How to get alive.
Cold night breeze through her hair.
