NORWEGIAN BLISS Docking in PUERTO CALDERA, Costa Rica l Cruise Vlog l Ep. 14
It's a new day which means we are docking in Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica! The sail in is very pretty as you cruise past lush jungle and cargo ships. Lots of people recommend to book an excursion for this port since there is not much to do right at the industrial cruise dock. Some other cruise ships dock at another port in Costa Rica-Puntarenas. The tour we're doing today is through Norwegian Cruise Line though most other cruise lines offer this tour as well. It is called: A REAL COFFEE EXPERIENCE. Here is the tour description from NCL's website:
This experience allows for an intimate glimpse inside one of the most important aspects that defines Costa Rica as the strongest nation in all of Central America. Coffee cultivation has been the primary source of income for many Costa Rican families since the turn of the 19th century. You’ll visit a 670-acre cooperative farm owned by more than 2,300 farmers of who 60% are women. Each member contributes almost 10 acres of land to the coop. The coffee that they cultivate and produce is sold directly to one of the largest coffee companies in the world, Starbucks. This coffee is also purchased by Rainforest Alliance, an organization that focuses on the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development.
You’ll experience first hand the coffee roasting process and have the chance to sample the flavorful brewing. Also see how the coffee beans, also known as cherries, are picked, sorted, peeled, fermented and sun-dried. Learn many interesting facts that may change your appreciation of this highly consumed beverage. Feel free to browse the selection of hand-made souvenirs before heading to the town of Sarchi. A photo-stop will be made at the largest oxcart monument ever built and a stop at the factory that made it; see the ancient water wheel that propels most of the machinery they use to cut and saw the wood.
As always, make sure to watch in HD for the best video quality! Hope you enjoy! :)

Al Jazeera English - Efforts to save Guatemala's iconic birds
Published on Aug 4, 2013
The scarlet macaw - one of Guatemala's most beautiful creatures - is under threat. A loss of habitat and an appetite to have them as pets means there are just a few hundred of the birds now left in the wild. But a conservation programme is trying to change that.
Al Jazeera's David Mercer reports from El Peru.
Copan Honduras Travel Guide | 90+ Countries with 3 Kids
Join us for a tour of Copan, the Copan Ruins and Macaw Mountain!
Because of the ruins, in fact, Copán has always existed as a tourism base, so the town exudes an inviting, familial atmosphere.
The centerpiece of a visit, of course, is Las Copán Ruinas, the remains of the ancient Mayan city and temple grounds. The extant structures you see today are built on top of earlier, older temples and ceremonial centers.
The Copán ruins aren’t as massive or extensive as other sites, but none touches Copán for the amount of sculpture and carved stone. And there’s a great museum with a reconstructed temple and some of the thousands upon thousands of artifacts recovered from the ruins.
You can see macaws all around or you can take a tour at Macaw Mountain and learn all about these beautiful birds.
Here you can wander through acres of natural forest and manicured gardens, along walkways that connect to soaring aviaries filled with parrots, parakeets, tropical owls, and more. There’s a great little lunch grill, and the opportunity for some hands-on interaction with gigantic macaws.
Enjoy the video and let us know where you're watching from!!!

Mountain Biking in Guatemala
This mountain-biking tour was sponsored by Sacred Rides out of the UK through Oldtown Outfitters in Antigua, Guatemala . This tour involves steep climbs and is tough and technical; it's not for the faint of heart. The tour guides were excellent cyclists as well as very knowledgeable about the areas where we traveled. The lunches each day were exceptional.
iReport - Tikal Canopy Tour - Ziplining Through the Guatemalan Jungle
Happy April Fool's Day everyone...
I don't have a prank for you today, just a little something I whipped up from my Belize footage from last November.
The day my wife and I went to Tikal, Guatemala to visit the incredible ruins of the ancient Mayan city there, we were given the option of ziplining through the jungle canopy outside the historical park. We decided to go for it and couldn't have been happier with the decision. Worth both the financial cost and the cost to your nerves, the rewards are many. Just being up on a platform in the jungle canopy, with wild parrots and local monkeys at eye level is breathtaking. And then to be able to zoom along a zipline over the jungle floor...simply thrilling and fun to the core...
So, if you ever find yourself near Tikal, Guatemala, be sure to check out Canopy Tours Tikal (canopytikal.com).
Enjoy!!!

PS - Be sure to eat lunch at the little restaurant there. The chicken lunch is out of this world!!!
