I spend the day exploring the Macetown Track and the arrow river. With a total of 47 River crossing for the day and some amazing views and cool pieces of history. This is a trip every 4wd'er and family should do!

New Zealand - Trip to Macetown (4WD Overnight Trip 2018)
Awesome 2018 countdown trip to Macetown. Macetown Historic Reserve is 15 km from Arrowtown. Access is via a 4WD track that crosses the river 23 times.

About 15 Kilometres each way with a lot of river crossings across the Arrow River.
We did go up further than last time when we did the trip with Nomad Safaris and we came down another part of the river as opposed to back down the entire track, but that was only about a 2Km difference.
According to the little booklet from Arrowtown Museum there are several side tracks that can also be taken. For a couple of dollars the little booklet has some good information about the old road.
