Inca Trail Machu Picchu Peru Reservations USA Useful Information 2012
TOURinPERU.com - Useful Information Inca Trail Trek Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu is located in the region of Vilcabamba which extends between the Apurimac and Urubamba rivers where the 45km Inca trail lies within. Visitors from all around the world come to Peru, not only to see Machu Picchu, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, but also to hike the Inca trail and have their grand tour of Machu Picchu. The Inca Trail links a range of stunningly preserved Inca ruins. The great scenery stands out along the way, all with views of snow capped mountains and lush cloud forest vegetations. The following is useful information for you to keep in mind when planning to go on the classic Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu. 2011 - 2012
1) Our classic 4-day Inca trail tour runs from March through to January. Please note that the Inca trail is closed in February. Due to recent regulations, the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is only limited to 500 trekkers a day, including tour guides, porters and cooks. This is why we highly recommend you book the Inca trail at least 3 -- 6 months in advance, especially during the peak season (May to September). The trek permits are issued on a first-come-first served basis until the permits have all been sold out. See official Inca Trail availability here. Fortunately for those who have missed out on the Inca trail option, we do have a number of alternative routes to offer that can be booked a month or so in advance. One of these great alternatives is the Inca Jungle tour which combines biking, ziplining, rafting, trekking, and the grand tour of Machu Picchu. Experts consider this tour one of the best experiences ever and we could say that the Inca Jungle tour is even better than the classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
2) It is becoming more and more difficult (in fact almost impossible in the peak months) to climb Huayna Picchu (the mountain overlooking all of Machu Picchu for the best view) the same day. This is due to the high demand of tourism in Peru, and especially in Machu Picchu. If you are arriving to Machu Picchu from the 4 Day Inca Trail or by train the same day then you will need to spend the night in Aguas Calientes (the town of Machu Picchu) and return to Cusco early the following day.
3) Until June 2011, you could go up to Huayna Picchu without having to pay any extra amount; now you do not only have to register on their notebook, but also you have to pay an additional amount (about 10 dollars) to go up to Huayna Piccchu.
Keep all this useful information in mind and have a great time with family, friends and special interest group.

Amazing Trekking Adventure to Machu Picchu in Peru
Trekking to Machu Picchu in Peru should be one of the to-do list priorities. The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu has become the perfect way to arrive at the ancient Inca monument. Unfortunately the access has been restricted and only 500 hundred people are allowed to start the hike per day. This number includes porters, guides and cooks. Only around 200 permits are allocated for tour hikers. Check for inca trail permits and make a reservation as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Alternative treks like the one in the video are available, but nothing compares to the original Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
Alternative Trekking route to Machu Picchu (Jungle Trek) in Peru. Mountain Biking to Santa Maria, trekking to Santa Teresa Hot Springs and Aguas Calientes. Overnight at the Inkaterra or Sumaq HIGHLY recommended after the arduous Trek.

The Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu | Cusco, Peru
Our first hike in South America! Mixed weather, great scenery and a great first group hike experience.
We booked through Machu Picchu Reservations pretty last minute in November and had no issues with availability.
The Salkantay trek as part of a tour is a pretty economical way to get to Machu Picchu (200 dollars for 4 nights of accommodation, excellent food with tickets to MP included in the price) vs the very expensive Inca Trail or even going to MP by yourself (doable either by getting a bus from Cusco to Hidroelectrica, walking the train tracks, spending a night in Aguascalientes, MP the next day; or by catching the train from Ollantaytambo which is pretty expensive).
Wise to remember that rainy season in Peru starts in November so best to go earlier for better weather (but more people).
Most people do the trek supported as part of a group, but definitely doable independently with the right research and planning and how we’d do it if we went back.

Machupicchu Cusco Peru - Trip from the United States - Travel to Peru American
Hello, my name is Jeffrey Reed. I came to Cusco in Peru from the United States and I think Cusco is a very cultural and rich place. I think the most important message is that there is more to Cusco than Machupicchu. I think that most people find out about Cusco when they make their travel plans to visit Machupicchu and I think that it is a shame! More people need to learn about just coming to Cusco and Scheduling tours in 360 degrees; all around the city of Cusco there's something interesting to do something different, a different aspect of traditional culture. Tipón is one that comes to mind which is the ancient water temple, there are just so many beautiful things to do here and the culture is alive and well the traditional culture; it goes back thousands and thousands of years, it is very strong here in Cusco and different parts of Peru generally. I am very happy to be part of it and to have known this area and you have to come here to understand it!

Peru pt4: Cusco! Ruins, markets and awesome food.
We ended up spending a couple weeks in Cusco, kind of relaxing and seeing things at the same time. We both really enjoyed Cusco, it has a cool laid back vibe but plenty going on if you want it, and of course it is the jumping off spot for loads of tours.
As you can tell by the video, we really enjoyed the food there, and found some great local places to eat around Cusco, as well as way too many desserts...
From Cusco we went to several sites, including Saqsaywaman, Chinchero, Moray, Ollantaytambo, the Maras sault mines and Pisca, and of course explored some of the great ruins lying beneath or making a part of Cusco's foundations. And a pretty good museum to boot. Culture vultures that we are we also tried to find the markets we could and eat like the locals, fortunately for me the locals seem to love cake, deep fried dough with sugar, and banana boats...
Cusco is also of course the stepping off point for Machu Pichu, and we found a great company with decent prices called Machu Pichu Reservations, but that is for the next video.
