Molokini Crater and Makena Snorkeling (GoPro Hero 4)
Molokini Crater and Makena Maui Snorkeling Tour through our NCL Pride of America Excursions.
The Pacific Whale Foundation snorkeling tour boat embarked at 9am and we sailed about an hour out to Molokini Crater. I've never been snorkeling before and must say that I wasn't expecting the view. Wow. The water was perfectly clear in and around the Molokini Crater. Saw tons of fish, coral, and other sea life.
After an hour we all got back on the boat and went to the Makena beach area. This was an open water dive against the coast. The captain told us we'd be lucky to see a few turtles. It didn't take long and we saw a whole family of them.
All of the video was shot on my GoPro Hero 4 Silver using 1080p at 60fps.
Snorkeling Molokini Crater and Turtle Town???????? Maui, Hawaii
Maui Magic Snorkel Trip to Molokini Crater and Turtle town. This was a 5 hour snorkel morning tour that included breakfast and lunch. Unlimited alcoholic drinks and non alcoholic drinks were also included with the price. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone coming to visit or any local looking for a fun snorkel activity. Staff was very friendly, food was decent, and drinks were awesome. As you can see we had no shortage of visuals!
Molokini Crater ~
Molokini is a crescent-shaped, partially submerged volcanic crater which forms a small, uninhabited islet located in ʻAlalākeiki Channel between the islands of Maui and Kahoʻolawe, within Maui County in Hawaiʻi. It is the remains of one of the seven Pleistocene epoch volcanoes that formed the prehistoric Maui Nui island, during the Quaternary Period of the Cenozoic Era.
The islet has an area of 23 acres (9.3 ha),[2] a diameter of about 0.4 miles (0.6 km), is 161 feet (50 m) at its highest point,[3] and is located about 2.5 miles (4.0 km) west of Makena State Park and south of Maʻalaea Bay. The islet is a Hawaiʻi State Seabird Sanctuary.
Turtle Town ~
Green sea turtles hang out all around Turtle Town, which is located in a beautiful patch of ocean near Makena. The healthy and expansive coral reef there is a perfect place for the turtles to graze. They can also find all kinds of places to rest on the bottom. Be sure to consider the shape of a turtle as you float above the reef. Sometimes you will see just one back flipper sticking out from under the coral, and it can look like a large leaf.

Fisherman dead after shark attack off Maui
A kayak fisherman died on Monday after a shark attack off Maui, Hawaiian Islands, local officials said.
Maui County Ocean Safety officials received a report that a shark attacked a man fishing in a kayak between Maui and Molokini, a small island less than 3 miles (4.8 kilometres) off the southwest coast of Maui that is popular for diving and snorkelling.
Maui County police identified the man as Patrick Briney, 57, of Stevenson, Washington state.
The shark bit his dangling foot while he fished with artificial lures to attract baitfish, a news release from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources said.
His fishing partner in another kayak tied a tourniquet on the man and sought help from a nearby charter tour boat.
The boat took them to shore, and the man was then taken to a hospital, the state said.
It's unclear when he was pronounced dead.
The kind of shark involved was not immediately available.
Though the attack happened far from shore, the state advised the public to stay out of the water a mile (1,6 kilometres) north and south of Makena State Recreation Area in southwest Maui.
There have been eight shark attacks near Maui this year and 13 state-wide.

Shark attack off Maui leaves kayak fisherman dead (December 3, 2013)
HONOLULU (AP) — A kayak fisherman died Monday off Maui after a shark bit his dangling foot, officials said.
Maui County Ocean Safety officials received a report that a shark had attacked a man fishing in a kayak between Maui and Molokini, a small island less than 3 miles off the southwest coast of Maui that is popular for diving and snorkeling.
The victim was fishing with artificial lures to attract baitfish, a news release from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources said. The Maui County Police Department identified the victim as Patrick Briney, 57, of Stevenson, Wash.
Briney's fishing partner tied a tourniquet on him and sought help from a nearby charter tour boat. The boat took them to shore, and Briney was then taken to a hospital, the state agency said. It's unclear when he was pronounced dead.
The kind of shark involved were not immediately available.
Though the attack happened far from shore, the state advised the public to stay out of the water a mile north and a mile south of Makena State Recreation Area in southwest Maui.
There have been eight shark attacks near Maui this year and 13 statewide. On Friday, a woman suffered nonfatal injuries in a Maui attack.
We are not sure why these bites are occurring more frequently than normal, especially around Maui, said department Chairman William Aila Jr. That's why we are conducting a two-year study of shark behavior around Maui that may give us better insights.
Over the last 20 years, Hawaii has averaged about four unprovoked shark incidents per year, the state said.
In August, a German tourist died a week after losing her arm in a shark attack. Jana Lutteropp, 20, was snorkeling up to 100 yards off a beach in southwest Maui when the shark bit off her right arm.
Before Lutteropp's death, the last shark attack fatality in Hawaii was in 2004, when a tiger shark bit Willis McInnis' leg while he was surfing in Maui.
Isaac Brumaghim knows firsthand the dangers of kayak fishing, which he said is growing in popularity. He was fishing off Oahu's west coast in April when a camera mounted on his kayak captured footage of a nine-foot (2.7-meter) shark jumping up and chomping on the tuna he was reeling in.
Sharks are an absolute danger, every single day, he said. You have to respect the fact they can bite you at any time.
He said bait in the water can easily attract the animal.
Just a little bit of blood, a little meat in the water, that's all you need, he said. It's like dogs out there.
