Puerto Vallarta Trip 2018: El Malecon Boardwalk
Puerto Vallarta's Malecón boardwalk is a popular destination for any Puerto Vallarta trip. It's a long stretch of sandy beach with a walking path, great for relaxing on the beach as well as for exercising.
The beach itself is very clean and extremely warm, even during a tropical storm (I was here during Tropical Storm Tara). Lots of shops, vendors, and restaurants are located here. Don't be surprised when vendors walk up to you on the beach trying to sell you food or jewelry!

Malecon Puerto Vallarta, Plaza Malecón & Origen y Destino escultura / sculpture

--------------------------
Video shows the north side of the Malecon, starting at the side of the fishermen's cooperative opposite McDonald's passing by La Bodeguita del Medio, going into Plaza Malecon, a closed market with shops and places with food and drink and ending with Pedro Tello's sculpture from 2011, called Origin and Destination.
Since the 1930's Puerto Vallarta has had a Malecon (boardwalk, seaside promenade) it starts off on the north end right by Hotel Rosita, also one of the oldest in town and follows the edge of the sea all the way to Aquiles Serdan square, by the Naval Museum.
It's the most active part of downtown Puerto Vallarta, there are a large amount of stores, restaurants, bars and nightclubs along the PV malecon.
Most of it is now closed to cars, buses and taxis, so you'll be able to walk calmly, without fear of accidents and free from smog and noise. There is a dedicated area with bike lanes, so you'll find bikers and skateboarders too.
The Puerto Vallarta malecon was remodeled some years ago, most locals were not to happy to have their memories meddled with, but it was better planned and improved it by adding places to rest, lots of palm trees and vegetation, making it an ideal place for a family outing, to enjoy the sea, the waves the small stretches of beach, eat breakfast or some other meal in one of the many great restaurants
There are lots of things to do in Puerto Vallarta, there are public shows and spectacles. Halfway along the boardwalk, by Señor Frog's, there are the Papantla Flying Men that soar through the air around a pole, defying gravity and showing extreme courage, there are the comics, music and dance shows at the Los Arcos Amphitheater, the sand sculptures, the rock balancing experts and much more.
It is said that the Puerto Vallarta Malecon is the very heart of the city, one thing is for sure, if you visit the Puerto Vallarta Downtown area, you should save one day (at least) to go to the downtown area and visit the Malecon, you won't regret it.
So if you are asking yourself what to do in Puerto Vallarta, your best place to start finding your perfect Puerto Vallarta activities in the seaside promenade, the Puerto Vallarta boardwalk.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico as Seen from a Drone near Malecon Boardwalk | Travel | 2019 | HD
#drone #travel #puertovallarta #mexico
An aerial view of the beautiful city of Puerto Vallarta in Mexico captured by Mavic Pro drone flown from Malecon Boardwalk near the pedestrian bridge on 3/15/2019
This place was gorgeous, the mountains, the ocean, the beach and the iconic church were breathtaking. We were there for a spring break and had a good time.
I have flown my drone several times during our vacation in Mexico, including at Cancun and at a cenote near Chichen Itza. Those videos are available in my channel.

My time in Mexico in 2018 is coming to an end - in this video I check out Puerto Vallarta's Malecon area. Puerto Vallarta is a typical tourist area particularly popular with US tourists. The Malecon is full of bars, restaurants and everything you would expect from a tourist area.
As a long term traveller, it's often difficult to see the positives in an area like this. Is this Mexico? Yes. It is. Was I shocked by Puerto Vallarta? No, it was exactly what I expected, but still fine to get a tan on one of the beaches or do numerous daytrips to Yelapa or Saluyita, or go on a boat trip, plus loads of great activities for children!
In this video I simply take a walk down the Malecon, eat some tacos for $15MXN (heaven) and head further up towards Zona Romantica and Los Muertos Pier as well as check out some beaches in the area.
There will be some more videos from Puerto Vallarta coming soon!

→ Who are we?
Hey there! We are Greg and Hillary – a husband and wife team that loves traveling, going on adventures, and helping others do the same! Although we love traveling, at this point in time, we still have full time 9-5 jobs in Dallas, Texas.
In August of 2016, we packed up our things, Greg quit his job, and we moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!
Hillary is working remotely for her CPA firm and Greg is working on this site full time.
We view ourselves as fairly ordinary people, complete with an ordinary income, ordinary jobs, and (unfortunately) an ordinary amount of student loan debt (thanks UNT!).
I know what you are thinking, “Aren’t travel blogs supposed to be written by hippies that don’t have jobs and live in hostels?!” Well don’t you worry, we are working on making that happen! Although we hope to become full time travelers in the next 1-2 years, this site is not necessarily aimed at people that want to travel full time.
Our hope is not that you quit your job and become a long haired, bearded, Volkswagen van driving hippy. Instead, our hope is that after reading our stories you are more inspired to live a more fulfilling life from 5pm-9am!
Why such the emphasis on how ordinary we are? Although we love reading travel blogs, it is easy to feel disconnected from the writers at times. It seems as though they are leading such extraordinary lives that they are somehow doing something that is unreachable to the “average” person.
We are here to prove that wrong. We are here to tell you that even if you work a full-time job and only get two weeks of vacation each year-you still have the power to design an adventurous life for yourself. Afterall, that is exactly where we started before leaving it all behind to live la vida loca!
After having several caffeine induced conversations about how people should travel more and shift their priorities in a way that will lead to a more fulfilling life, we decided to share our stories with you.
Our purpose in creating Kinetic Kennons is to share our stories of travels, adventures, and funny mishaps and to inspire others to design a life full of exploration. Throughout this site you will find posts about how to go on a cheap weekend trip, funny stories such as the time Hillary forgot to update her passport before an international trip, and inspirational rants on why you should lead a more adventurous life!
