Russia: Mutko praises Confederations Cup security in Sochi
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitali Mutko commended organisers of the 2017 Confederations Cup during a press conference in Sochi, Thursday, focusing on the professionalism of the security during the event.
SOT, Vitali Mutko, Russian Deputy Prime Minister (Russian): Overall, I would like to note that according to FIFA there are no major problems, everything is working at the highest level. All the infrastructure that we planned is prepared. All the stadiums are in excellent condition, all the cities have shown a very responsible attitude to host the Confederations Cup.
SOT, Vitali Mutko, Russian Deputy Prime Minister (Russian): The entire security system is working flawlessly. It could seem to someone excessive, but we find that match attendance is good, with one match averaging 37,000, and it is quite a high attendance. Given that the ratio of visitors who came to Russia and our fans, it's about 90 to 10 as in all the latest Confederations Cups as in Brazil and Mexico, so we have somewhere like 93 to 7.
SOT, Vitali Mutko, Russian Deputy Prime Minister, (Russian): Overall we are pleased with this attendance, I would like to note that we tried a number of new features. You know, we introduced the Fan ID. And it is not only a part of the security system which allows us at the earliest stage of filing of the application by interaction with colleagues from other countries to prevent issuing a pass for those who would like to attend matches not to support, but to disrupt social order. It is an additional security measure. And well, [another] function which we added to the Fan ID is that it allows dozen of thousands of people to enter Russia without a visa. Fan ID is essentially a visa, and in electronic form. Today we see that this right ss already being used by about 5,000 foreigners.
