Darlington Market Hall Clock
A look at Darlington Market Hall clock tower on Saturday 6th May 2017.
Darlington's most famous landmark, the clock tower, was a gift to the town by the industrialist Joseph Pease in 1864. The clock's face was produced by T. Cooke & Sons of York, and the tower bells were cast by John Warner & Sons of nearby Norton-on-Tees.

Hull Guildhall Clock
A look at Hull Guildhall Clock on Sunday 15th June 2014.
The original clock was designed and installed in the original Town Hall by Barnard Cooke in 1865 as a time piece and hour strike only. It included an hour bell weighing 2.5 tons and is one of the only currently functioning original mechanical tower clocks in the country.
When the new Guildhall tower was constructed in 1914 the clock was transferred and enlarged to include quarter hour chimes and four new quarter bells were added to blend in with the hour bell.
In 2004, to mark the 100th anniversary of the signing of a contract with Quibells to construct the new Guildhall, a 23-bell carillon was added to the bell tower.

More than a hundred homes on sale: a pound for the lot. But the prospect of expensive repairs meant the council wouldn't even pay that. This is Horden in County Durham, its heart ripped out by the collapse of the mining industry - now a sea of empty properties.

Carlisle Old Town Hall Clock
A look at Carlisle old town hall clock on Saturday 21st March 2015.
The Old Town Hall was built on the grounds of the old medieval hall, which was demolished in 1668. The work on the new building were completed by 1669. The right-gabled extension and clock tower were added in 1717. The clock mechanism dates from around 1900 and was given a restoration in 2007.
A number of stories exist as to why it has 3 clock faces.
One legend suggests that it is not showing the time towards Scotland as a way of saying that the City ‘does not have the time for Scotland’. No evidence has so far been found to confirm if the clock originally had 4 faces and one has been removed.
