The town of Clayton
Concord is the largest city in Contra Costa County, California, USA, and the 202nd largest in the U.S. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 121,780. Originally founded in 1869 as the community of Todos Santos by Salvio Pacheco, the name was changed to Concord within months. The city is a major regional suburban East Bay center within the San Francisco Bay Area, and is located just 31 miles (50 km) east of San Francisco. In terms of travelling distance on the ground, it is 29 miles (47 km) northeast of San Francisco, 22 miles (35 km) northeast from Oakland, 65 miles (105 km) southwest of Sacramento, and 51 miles (82 km) north of San Jose. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 30.1 square miles (78.1 km≤), all of it land. The focal point of downtown Concord is Todos Santos Plaza, which encompasses an entire city block and is known for its farmers market, free summer concerts, and large number of surrounding restaurants. Much of the area immediately around downtown has recently been redeveloped, with new high-density apartment and condominium projects to take advantage of the close proximity to public transportation and the vibrant area surrounding the park. Despite this, some crime and homelessness remain issues in the downtown area. To the north and east of downtown is the older residential area of Concord, with many homes dating back to before World War II. In the far northern edge of town is a primarily industrial area, dominated by the Tesoro Golden Eagle refinery (which is actually not located within city limits). The southeastern area of the city, centered along Clayton Road, is primarily residential and was mostly developed in the 1960s and 1970s. In the southwest area of the city is the primarily Latino neighborhood known as Four Corners, centered around the intersection of Monument Boulevard and Oak Grove Road. Concord is bordered on the west by Pleasant Hill and the unincorporated community of Pacheco, on the south by Walnut Creek, on the southeast by Clayton, on the northeast by Pittsburg and the unincorporated community of Bay Point, and on the north by the unincorporated community of Clyde. Though it shares no border with Concord, Martinez (the county seat) is located almost immediately adjacent to Concord on the northwest.

Short Outing To Concord, CA (Friday, March 21, 2014)
In this video, it shows me, with my mom, sis and Richie have a short, mini outing around Concord, CA. The main reason that we went up to Concord was since my mom had an important appointment at the Christ Community Church of the Nazarene around noon time or so.
The video starts off by showing part of the road trip up to the city of Concord. We headed straight to the church and it was nearing noon time. Since they were behind schedule of their appointments, we got to look around the church's facility a bit. It's such a nice day out. It was my first time seeing inside and around the area. Their gym had carpet as well which was quite neat. After looking around a bit, me, sis and Richie went exploring a bit around the area. Richie had to stop by a bank as well. It was a nice city. Too bad we had a limited time to explore.
After exploring a bit, we went back to the church, waited for my mom to finish her appointment and then headed out to eat lunch around the city. By the way, we saw a couple of our old Spanish congregation members, which were so happen to be Pastor Elsa and her husband.
We went to eat lunch at the Morning Star Cafe, located deep inside Concord, CA. We were wanting to try their Filipino food here. What was interesting about the restaurant was that it had just reopened a couple weeks or so prior. What happened was that the original owner/cook had won the lottery so he backed off to continue working in the restaurant. So this couple was there at the current time, trying to bring it back to life. Their menu was also starting out from scratch again...with less than 10 items on their whole menu. But despite the rough times of the restaurant, their food was delicious, especially the shanghai lumpia and pansit, though the pansit was just a tad too salty.
I ordered the Paresilog meal. It included beef pares, fried rice and eggs. By the way, the cook gave us his specialty of beef ribs and beef strips for free, since we were out-of-towners!
After a satisfying lunch, we left the place just after 3 p.m. We stopped by McD's to get some drinks and for last-minute restroom break. I got an Oreo McFlurry for the road...yummy!! Perfect to have on this warm, early spring day.
It was a nice mini outing we had at Concord, CA! 'Til next time, happy traveling!

PORT CHICAGO NAVAL MAGAZINE NATIONAL MEMORIAL: The 7Sth Anniversary of the Port Chicago Explosion July I7, 20I9
Port Chicago Naval Magazine National Memorial was established in 1992 to mark the site of the Port Chicago explosion, the worst stateside (or home front) disaster in the United States during World War II. The Friends of Port Chicago National Memorial successfully advocated for establishment of the memorial, and remain the park's primary partner. Located on the shore of Suisun Bay, in Concord, California, the memorial was an NPS-afflliated area from its establishment until 2009, when it was designated a unit within the national park system. Three themes-the role that the naval magazine played in the Pacific Theater war effort, the loss of life caused by the tragic explosion, and the poignancy of the social justice struggles that ensued after the explosion-compelled the nation to set aside Port Chicago as a place of national remembrance.

Outdoors With Cole and Cage - Natural Falls State Park Trapping Crawdads
If you enjoy Cole and Cage Outdoors please Like and Share if you like what you see! Thank you!
Today was a family trip to a most awesome location here in Oklahoma called Natural Falls State Park. It is in the same location as the book Where The Red Fern Grows is based on.
My dad helped Cage and I construct a crawdad trap for this trip. You can get the materials from your local hardware store if you are interested in making your own. If you want my dad to do a How To video on the trap please comment below and if we can get 50 comments he says he'll do one for you guys!!
I just found out that some people call crawdads mud bugs and I literally LOLed when I heard that!
The fishing was better than the video shows but we didn't have the camera running...ooops! We found a deep pool of water in the creek that held some monster Large Mouth Bass but we couldn't get them to bite. When we were walking out we noticed about a 4 pound bass chewing on a big red crawdad. Next time we will pack some plastic crawdad lures to see if they will hit them.
On our next trip we may be hitting the dam for some catfish and whatever else that will take our bait! Oklahoma fishing is some of he best in the country and we plan on getting some great video of some big catfish.
Tight lines and thanks for watching we really appreciate you!
