Welcome To Boonville IN
Welcome to our beautiful city in the southwestern corner of Indiana. The City of Boonville is a wonderful city for raising a family. Our community is the only city in Warrick County and is the county seat. Boonville was once comprised of mainly coal miners. The local coal miners are very few now as compared to years past. Many of our citizens work at the nearby Alcoa Plant. There continues to be much farming in the area surrounding the City of Boonville.
The county has an incredible educational system. We are blessed with two elementary schools, one Middle School, and one High School. The Warrick County School Corporation offices are located in our city. The Boonville High School mascot is the Pioneer.
It is professed in our history that Abraham Lincoln, as a youth, walked from nearby Spencer County to our city to borrow law books from our local court system.
Boonville was named after Ratliff Boon. Ratliff Boon was one of the most famous public officials in our history. A cousin of Daniel Boone, he was most influential in the establishment of Boonville.
The City of Boonville has a downtown square setting which has some unique shops as well as the Warrick County Judicial Center which houses the court system as well as many of the county offices.
Warrick Publishing publishes a weekly newspaper, the Boonville Standard. St Mary's Warrick Hospital is located a few blocks from the downtown area.
The Post Office is ½ block off of the downtown square. We still have the small town atmosphere with two locally owned groceries.WBNL (1540 on your AM dial) Radio Station owned by Ralph Turpen which is available over the internet and has many listeners nationwide.
Our Warrick County Museum is located a block off of our downtown square and is a hidden gem.In July of 2006 we opened our Water Park in the beautiful City Lake Park complex. Annually we have many visitors to our park. The beautiful park displays period lighting with a concrete walking path around the lake as well as shelter houses and gazebos for family gatherings.
We host Boo in Boonville every year on Halloween for safe trick or treating and this event draws families from the surrounding area. We hope you find our historic town as special as we do.
Thank you for visiting!
Mayor Pam Hendrickson
The Websites I Use to Research Trails for Hiking and Camping
In this video, I showcase some of the websites that I use to find and learn about potential trails. I like to learn as much as I can about a trail before I hike it, whether it be a short 3 mile trail in a state park or whether it be a multi day hike. Using the links below will help you do your initial research so you can have a good understanding of the layout of the land, the mileage, or the structure of the trail. Some of the links below are specific to my area, but some of them are national.
Here is a link to find a national forest in your area
Here is a link to find the Department of Natural Resources in your area

Hiking the Oriole East Trail in the Hoosier National Forest
This was a day hike I did on the Oriole East Trail in the Hoosier National Forest. This trail is the sister trail to another that I did this year which was the Oriole West Trail. You can watch that video here:
Here is part two:
The trail head for this trail is located near Oriole Lake which is south of Paoli Indiana. There are no restroom facilities or water available (other than what is shown in the video) so you have to pack in what you need. The trail is approximately 6.5 miles long and is a mixture of pines and hardwoods. The only bad thing about the trail that I should mention is the large amount of logging operations that was occurring and that takes away from some of the natural beauty. The trail is good for beginner to intermediate as the elevation gains are not that strenuous. The middle portion of the trail is the prettiest and is worth the long trek on the logging road. I would still recommend the west trail as the prettier of the two. If you would like information on these trails you can click here:
I hope you enjoy this video. If you are not a subscriber I would love to have you join up. I would also ask you to like this video if you enjoyed it. Thanks so much

ORIGINS: The Richard Lieber Story
Discover the story of Col. Richard Lieber’s visionary leadership in establishing a system of state parks in Indiana. Through disappointing failure and resounding success, Indiana State Parks became a 100th birthday gift to Hoosiers. This presentation was developed by storyteller Bob Sander with financial support from the “Arts in the Parks” partnership between the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Indiana Arts Commission.

More News: Indiana Newsdesk
The governor’s plan to funnel billions of dollars into improving the state’s aging infrastructure won’t do anything for local roads. Ahead, more on how the money will be allocated, what priorities are included and what will be neglected.
Plus in a surprise move, the governor sent a letter this week to the state board saying he expects ISTEP scores to be down this year but that he doesn’t think that should affect teacher pay or evaluations. The letter seems to indicate a reversal in Pence’s position on accountability. Our StateImpact Education team joins us to explain the significance of the governor’s letter and what it will mean for educators.
Plus Indiana has one of the largest cave systems in the country – and the majority of it still unexplored. Next we take you deep underground, through tight passageways and into the darkness to explore a whole new world.
