Canadian Nature and Wildlife Experience // Mer Bleue Bog
Canadian Nature and Wildlife Experience Mer Bleue Bog a Great Place to Visit and Explore in Ottawa. The Mer Bleue Bog in Ottawa is one of the most outstanding natural features of the Greenbelt. The 3,500-hectare conservation area has a northern eco-system more typical of the Arctic than Ottawa Valley. At Mer Bleue, you will find interpretive boardwalks, sand ridges, cross-country ski trails and forests. Mer Bleue is the largest bog and natural area in Canada’s Capital Region and the second largest bog in southern Ontario. The Mer Bleue Bog is a great place to experience Canadian nature and wildlife.
So today I am at Mer Bleue Bog. And this place is a really cool place where you can go around and see all the different kinds of wildlife that Canada has to offer. So today I'll be showing you guys some of that, and I sorta think of this place as one of Ottawa's gems because this is one of my favourite places to go and see all of the real Canadian wildlife. So without further ado, let's go.

The Amazing Mer Bleue!
Mer Bleue is a 3,500-hectare wetland, located at the edge of Canada's Capital Region, in Ottawa. Ecologically, Mer Bleue is a unique example of a northern ecosystem — more typical of the Arctic than of the Ottawa Valley. Internationally recognized by the Ramsar Convention for its contribution to the global environment, Mer Bleue plays an important part in protecting the diversity of plants and animals in our region and in stabilizing the climate globally. It may well be the single-most studied bog in the world.

The Mer Bleue Conservation Area is a 33.43 km2 (12.91 sq mi) protected area east of Ottawa in Eastern Ontario, Canada. Its main feature is a sphagnum bog that is situated in an ancient channel of the Ottawa River and is a remarkable boreal-like ecosystem normally not found this far south. Stunted black spruce, tamarack, bog rosemary, blueberry, and cottongrass are some of the unusual species that have adapted to the acidic waters of the bog.
