In The Yucatan: Merida English Language Library
The Merida English Language Library is an English language lending library, open to the public through a nominal paying membership. It is based on the model of the classic, local public library, which is the centerpiece of every community in the United States and Canada. The Mission of the Merida English Language Library is to provide English language materials in all formats to meet the information, educational and recreational needs of English-speaking people of all ages in the diverse communities which make up Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Mitch Keenan takes us for a tour through the facilities.

El pensamiento humanista de la Escuela Mérida Expresionismo del arte indio, es expresado en 4 etapas:
I Etapa (Protesta): Búsqueda y representatividad de personajes vulnerables y excluidos, -cuya realidad es fácilmente perceptible-, pero que avergüenza a la sociedad. Personajes que a través de sus formas, expresan en silencio los cientos de años de olvido.
II Etapa (Costumbrista- social): Personajes que interaccionan en el mismo contexto histórico- social de los personajes de la primera etapa, los mismos que dan a conocer sus costumbres, vivencias y tradiciones. La intención del artista es que la sociedad comprenda que el mundo andino cuenta con su propia cultura.
III Etapa (Religioso): Su intención es que su mensaje sea difundido por el máximo lenguaje que expresa el amor al prójimo, a través de un Cristo que sufre con rostro indígena.
IV Etapa (Continuidad). Encarga la continuidad de su obra a quién desde su niñez colaboró en silencio, en el logro de la trascendencia alcanzada por la Escuela Mérida, en la hija- discípula- Maestra, María Antonieta Mérida Enriquez.

This newly renovated 2 or 3 bedroom home is only a few blocks east from downtown Centro and has been built around the central courtyard and pool which gives every room a wonderful view. All the bedrooms are air-conditioned and have fans, as well there are many windows and doorways to keep the fresh air flowing throughout this home.
The entrance greets you with high ceilings which lead to a great entertainment area or formal dining room with a fountain in the small courtyard. The kitchen room is a very large area which looks out onto the pool making cooking a pleasure. Just off the kitchen there is a large utility space with guest bathroom.
The main bedroom leads directly to the pool area and is complete with a cement tub looking onto a small garden area. The second bedroom on the second level and is completely private for your guest with its own lounge area or additional bedroom. This home also has a great roof terrace and outdoor living space, where you can enjoy the warm evening.
