Each year during Corvette Funfest the Mid America Motorworks campus turns into a city of its own. We could not accomplish such a fun event without the help of an army of volunteers. Online Corvette Club Simply Corvettes, lead by Tux Hadler, earned a huge shout out and our gratitude at this year’s event when members from their club volunteered their time and energy to coordinate parking throughout the weekend. Industry leaders also pitch in by providing free, technical seminars and as Celebrity Choice Award Judges. We are also humbled by the countless friends and family of the Mid America Motorworks team who pitch in every year as volunteers. We continue to be humbled by the generosity of those who help to make Corvette Funfest the best Corvette show in the world, year after year!

Mike Yager's Homecoming 70th Birthday Celebration: Cruise-In Fun Run Newton IL Corvette Funfest 2019!
Mike Yager is the owner of Mid America Motorworks in Effingham, Illinois, and every year, he hosts the Corvette Funfest on his company's property. One of the events provided for the Corvette owners is a Fun Run Road Tour to a destination in the surrounding area. Since this year was Mr. Yager's 70th birthday, Mike decided to take the Fun Run Road Tour to his childhood hometown of Newton, Illinois!
We set our chairs down along the edge of Illinois Rt 33 as it makes its way into Newton, and then watched hundreds of Corvettes parade into this small town to help Mike Yager celebrate his big day! There were Corvettes everywhere we looked, lining the streets around the courthouse in the center of town.
The amazing Newton High School Band, The Marching Eagles, put on an incredible performance for Mr. Yager and the Corvette owners. Newton Mayor Mark Bolander welcomed Mike and his wife, Laurie, and then Mike spoke about how growing up here had positively influenced his life, and helped him become a successful businessman. Cake and good food from onsite vendors followed, and it was a great celebration that Mr. Yager was visibly very appreciative of. We had a great time, and we're pretty sure everyone else did too!

CERV I, Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle
For More Information, Visit:
Dubbed CERV I, this Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle was the first of four such vehicles produced by Chevrolet over a 35-year period. Zora Arkus-Duntov, himself, was responsible for the mechanical engineering of this “state-of-the-art” 50’s racer, while famed designer Larry Shinoda created the stunning body contours.
Duntov had aspirations of running this 200 mph-plus rocket at the Indianapolis 500, but a ban on racing by Chevrolet dashed those hopes. The CERV I originally sported a 283 cubic inch engine, an exotic version of Rochester fuel injection, and narrow tires. Before the car was retired and to gain more speed, Duntov added a 377 cubic inch aluminum small block, a low profile Rochester injection system, and more current lower, wider tires. Shinoda also redesigned the body for better aerodynamics. Today, the car appears in this second-generation form.
