Salisbury is a medieval cathedral city in the southern English county of Wiltshire. It’s 9 miles south of the iconic prehistoric stone circle at Stonehenge, which stands on the grassland of Salisbury Plain. The city’s ornate 13th-century cathedral has a 123m spire, a working 14th-century clock and an original copy of the Magna Carta (the Great Charter), a key document from 1215 A.D.
Salisbury is a cathedral city in Wiltshire, England, and the only city within the county. Salisbury is the third-largest settlement in the county, after Swindon and Chippenham . Stonehenge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is about 8 miles (13 km) northwest of Salisbury and greatly aids the local economy. The city itself, Old Sarum, the present cathedral and the ruins of the former one also attract visitors.
The city is located in the southeast of Wiltshire, near the edge of Salisbury Plain. Its cathedral was formerly located to the north at Old Sarum; following its relocation, a settlement grew up around it, drawing residents from Old Sarum and Wilton. The new town received its city charter in 1227 under the name New Sarum, which continued to be its official name until 2009, when the Salisbury City Council was established. It sits at the confluence of five rivers: the Nadder, Ebble, Wylye, and Bourne are tributary to the Hampshire Avon, which flows to the south coast and into the sea at Christchurch in Dorset. Salisbury railway station serves the city and is a regional interchange, at the crossing point between the West of England Main Line and the Wessex Main Line.
Salisbury lies on the intersection of the A30, the A36 and the A338 and is at the end of the A343, A345, A354 and A360. Salisbury also has a Park and Ride bus scheme with five sites around the city. Salisbury railway station is the crossing point of the West of England Main Line, from London Waterloo to Exeter St Davids, and the Wessex Main Line from Bristol to Southampton.

16 - Wolstonbury Hill
The beautiful Wolstonbury Hill in Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex.
The closest hill to my house and one i've been looking forward to soaring. The wind today was marginal for my plane. It felt like 4 or 5 mph on my first 20 minute flight and I had to resort to the motor a few times to save myself a long walk.
This is the second flight, the wind was probably 7 or 8 mph here and was ok if not spectacular. A noticeably slower and more sedate flight than in stronger winds at Itford and Devils Dyke earlier in the week.
I did use the motor a couple of times though I didn't really need to. It gave me the chance to do an extended test of the repair (which worked faultlessly) and without enough lift to get any real altitude I wanted to get some proper height and capture a little footage.
It really is stunning, you tube seems to knock the quality off a little but the camera itself (Hobbyking WingCam) really is great value for money.
In a couple of days the wind direction and strength should be optimal for flying the lovely looking bowl on the other side of the hill, can't wait.
I would say the walk from the riding school car park is no worse than Itford and definitely more sheltered in the NW wind. Walking down, as always, was an easy pleasure in the setting sun. Great to fly here, i'd love to fly this slope again at 10-15 mph, I think it would be alot of fun. Some interesting contours and bushes dotted around to flirt with.
Random facts: Interestingly Wolstenbury Hill is the site of an iron age fort. You can see the man made mound surrounding the summit from the high point of this flight, as well as numerous other earth works. Flint was also mined from this hill at various time in the past. There are two bushy clump of trees out of sight to the right of where I was flying known as 'Campians' eyebrows. I forget exactly who Campian was now.
At the foot of the hill down to the right of my location is the grand 'Danny House'. A country retreat for first world war Prime Minister Lloyd George, who allegedly had a mistress in the local village of Hurstpierpoint.

The Celt Vlogs: Salisbury!
I realised when editing this I said the word guys faaaaar too much.
Sorry for the crap quality on this, first time I've done this and what not but hopefully it'll start to become a semi-regular occurrence once I've ironed out the obvious kinks. Thought I'd give this channel something that's a little different so you don't always have to watch me suck at video games. You can watch me suck in real life instead!.
