Moon pie haul!!!
Moon pies have been made daily at the Chattanooga Bakery since the brand's inception on April 29, 1917. Earl Mitchell Junior said his father came up with the idea for moon pies when he asked a Kentucky coal miner what kind of snack he would like to eat, and the miner requested something with graham cracker and marshmallow. Popular folklore, repeated and encouraged by Chattanooga Bakery itself, states the miner then asked the snack be as big as the moon,[1] which inspired the name moon pie.
There is a custom for eating moon pies with RC Cola, although the origin of this is unknown.[2] It is likely that their inexpensive prices, combined with their larger serving sizes, contributed to establishing this combination as the working man's lunch. The popularity of this combination was celebrated in a popular song of the 1950s by Big Bill Lister titled Gimmee an RC Cola and a Moon Pie.[1] In 1973, NRBQ had a minor hit with the song An RC Cola and a Moon Pie.
Since New Year's Eve 2008, the city of Mobile, Alabama has been lowering a 12-foot-tall (3.7 m) lighted mechanical moon pie to celebrate the coming of the new year. The giant moon pie descends the 34 story RSA BankTrust building at the strike of midnight.[3] Every NYE, the world's largest moon pie is cut and served to the public as part of the festivities. It weighs 55 pounds (25 kg) and contains 45,000 calories (190 kJ).[4]
An annual RC Cola and Moon Pie Festival is celebrated in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, and a moon pie eating contest is held in Bessemer, Alabama.
On October 14, 2017, Matt Stonie, a competitive eater famous in national eating contests, ate 73 single-decker moon pies in eight minutes at the Bass Pro Shops store in Memphis, TN.
Newport, Tennessee held its first annual Moon Pie Festival in May 2012.
The company is celebrating its centennial anniversary with a My Favorite MoonPie Memory contest. The grand prize winner gets a 100-year supply of moon pies. It's also taking a wrapped Winnebago across the country in the Fall, thanking its top customers and attending various sporting events and festivals.
In September 2017, as part of its centennial, Moon Pie returned to the original recipe, replacing high-fructose corn syrup with sugar and removing preservatives and artificial colors and flavors. ~via WIkipedia

A unique history. 1786 A westward-moving settler, Mordecai Lewis, leaves Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley and settles in East Tennessee. John Sevier, the first governor of Tennessee, encouraged Virginians such as Lewis to come to this area following the Revolutionary War. In 1794, he was appointed Coroner of Sevier County as well as a Justice of the Peace.
1807Lewis makes his home along what we now know as the Little Pigeon River after receiving a land grant from Governor Blount, where he acquired a total of 151 acres along the river. His grandson would later build and operate the first gristmill.
1817 Issac Love, the son-in-law of Mordecai Lewis, inherits the land after Lewis’s death and builds an iron forge along the west branch of the river. It was a logical setting for a forge. Iron ore was found in the hills, timber could be burned to create charcoal to fuel the fires, and the river was a source of unending power for the large hammer. 1841 the first post office is located inside the mill. “Pigeon Forge” was born, named by Love after the passenger pigeons that would roost in the trees along the river during their southern migration and his father’s iron forge.
1859 John Sevier Trotter becomes the second owner of the mill and iron forge and adds a saw mill to his operation. 1861 The Civil War begins. Tennessee is the last state to secede from the Union. East Tennessee, in particular, was split between the Union and Confederacy. The mill owner, John Trotter, was a Unionist, and on the second floor of his mill, he sets up secret knitting looms to produce clothing for Union soldiers. There was also a makeshift hospital on the third floor. 1921 the mill begins producing electricity for the community. Not until 1933 did electricity flow to Pigeon Forge from the city of Sevierville. 1940 President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicates the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at Newfound Gap, the mountain pass located in the center of the park and the name of the road that runs through the park today in both Tennessee and North Carolina. Tourism really starts to take off for the Great Smoky Mountains.
1952 Tourism begins to flourish in Pigeon Forge, the city widens the parkway to make way for more automobile traffic.
1961 Pigeon Forge incorporates as a municipality.
On June 10, 1975 the Old Mill is recognized for its importance to the community and its place in American history by being placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
1977 Only after 147 years of use, the Old Mill’s original grinding stones need replacing. They certainly were a good purchase back in 1830!
1995 The Stouts decide to retire and offers to sell The Old Mill to the Blantons & Frizzells. The Cornflour Restaurant name is changed to the Old Mill Restaurant.

Pigeon Forge, a mountain town and vacation area in eastern Tennessee, is the home of Dollywood, country singer Dolly Parton’s Appalachian-themed park consisting of rides, an adjoining water park and a museum of her costumes and memorabilia. The city’s other attractions include country music revues like the Smoky Mountain Opry, dinner theaters such as Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede and outlet malls.
You can step aboard the Titanic, ogle OJ Simpson's white Ford Bronco, ride a 200ft-high Ferris wheel and plunge toward the earth on America's first 'wing coaster' in Pigeon Forge, a sprawling cacophony of excess and traffic burning bright in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountains. With liquor by the drink available since 2013, the city has also loosened up a bit at night. Pigeon Forge is named in part for the Little Pigeon River, which flows through the action. Its banks were once a roosting spot for passenger pigeons – now extinct. Best known today as the home of Dollywood, Dolly Parton's namesake theme park, the city is packed tight with hotels, restaurants and family-friendly attractions, most of them lining Parkway, the main thoroughfare. Pigeon Forge is just 8 miles from Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but traffic and stoplights can make that 8 miles seem a mighty long way.
The West Fork of the Little Pigeon River flows north from its source high on the slopes of Mount Collins through Sevier County before linking up with the Middle Fork in Sevierville. Pigeon Forge occupies a narrow valley along this river between Sevierville and Gatlinburg. High ridges surround Pigeon Forge on three sides, with Pine Mountain to the west, Shields Mountain to the east, and Cove Mountain to the south. A bend in the Little Pigeon provides the city's northern border with Sevierville, and a narrow gorge cut by the river between Cove Mountain and Shields Mountain acts as the city's boundary with Gatlinburg.

Mama's Farmhouse | Pigeon Forge, TN
Mama's Farmhouse breakfast takes you back to simpler times
Growing up in the South, a tradition breakfast consists of grits, eggs, bacon, and some type of bread. Most Southerners would have biscuits as their choice of bread if you asked them. We love our breakfast and consider it to be the most important meal of the day. Eating breakfast, especially Sunday breakfast, is almost like a holiday for Southern. If asked, most Southerners would tell you that they love their mama or grand mama's cooking. So it is no surprise to find a restaurant in the hills of the Smoky Mountains honoring their Mother. This is the review of Mama's Farmhouse.

What I use to Film Videos and Edit
1. Cannon HD Camera: I use a camcorder similar to this one about 40% of the time. The one we bought several years ago is a discontinued model and we bought it originally for family videos.
2. Tripod for Camcorder: As of now I just use a cheap tripod like this one for recording. I do not use a lot of panning shots off of the tripod. I will eventually upgrade to a better one with a fluid head for panning shots.
3. Wireless Lapel mic: I use this exact same mic for recording. I use it with the Canon Camcorder and also with my Moto Force Phone.
4. Camera bag: I currently have two Lowepro Bags, one for my Canon Camcorder and one for my Nikon Camera. They are really good bags and protecting your equipment is essential.
5. Camera Bag: If I bought a new one today, though, I would get this one. It is Amazons Basic brand. I love the backpack style bags.
6. Moto Force Android phone: I record about 60% of my videos with this phone. It has an awesome camera and works well in low lighting. The sound is also really good without using the lapel mic if I need to.
7. Nikon D3300 Camera: 1ff I use this for a lot of my still shots, especially shots of food that I have cooked. I have the version right before this camera. If I were to buy another one today I would get the Canon D80 DSLR . I would use this as my video camera and still shots. I know it is expensive and that is the reason I do not have one yet.
8. SD Cards: I have tons of cards. Most are high speed like this one. This is essential when taking multiple shots with your DSLR camera that the recording or writing speed is fast. It allows you to take faster shots. Some cameras will not work with slower speed cameras. Really you should only need 1 main card and a backup card unless you like to leave your content on your cards. I rip it to my backup storage on my main computer.
9. Backup storage: Again I have an older version of this same one. Mine is 2 TB which is still a ton of storage. You can back your whole computer up to a plus all your pictures and videos on this bad boy. If you delete them, you will never have them again. This is good in case you want to remake a video with older footage.
10. Tripod for Moto Force/Smart Phone: This is not the exact same one I have but if I were to buy a new one this is the one I would get. This is a vital part to have for filming. I use this for my in car shots, for filming while I am eating, and I set it up on the ground for some cool shots.
