Our fantastic guide Elena describes her work with tourists in Moscow
Top 10 MUST visit places in Moscow | Russia
10 must visit places in Moscow | Russia
Hello everyone! My name is Daria!
There are hundreds points of attraction in Moscow but I guess if you have only couple of days you haven’t so much time to visit all of them, that’s why for your attention I will show you my favorite places in Moscow. I see the best time for visiting Moscow since April because for example in this March we had terrible spring with 10 degrees below zero. If you don’t want to be frozen and want to walk more welcome since late spring. All of the places which I’m going to tell about are in the center. Let’s get into it!
1. Red square
Красная площадь
The Red Square is the most popular and that’s why most of the time crowded city plaza in Moscow but despite this fact I like to be there and set a meeting point near Ohotny ryad station. It absolutely should be the
first place in your travel rout. Red Square is a beautiful historical place with many interesting buildings and monuments around. I like the atmosphere which you can feel walking along the streets.
2. St. Basil’s Cathedral
Собор Василия Блаженного
On the Red square you may see a colorful unusual cathedral. It’s a St. Basil’s Cathedral. It was built in 16th century and now works as a museum
This is a unique cathedral, mix of details has no analogues in Russian architecture.
More info you may find here
The ticket for adults is 350 rubles.
3. GUM
ГУМ
It’s on Red Square, as well, near St.Basils Cathedral. This is a huge beautiful shopping mall in neo-Russian style where you can walk inside, eat an ice-cream and visit Stolovaya No 57. It’s a canteen which offers Russian Soviet Food.
4. Bolshoi theatre and places around
Большой театр и места вокруг
The Bolshoi Theatre is a historic theatre in Moscow and one of the huge in Russia, which holds ballet and opera performances and which you may see on 100 rubles banknote.
You will see Bolshoy theatre, Maliy Theathe (Малый театр), TsuM ЦУМ (it’s a premium shopping mall mostly with expensive brands) and go to Kuznetskiy most street. You will find plenty of bars and cafes. I adore this district because It’s full of live. In spring and in summer musician bands play on the streets. Their performances and genres are different and you will enjoy just sitting on a bench and listening to music.
5. Old Arbat st and New Arbat st
Старый Арбат и Новый Арбат
There are 2 parallel streets. Old Arbat is one of the oldest street. Moscow intellectuals such as Pushkin, Blok, Tolstoy, Gogol, Chehov and many others lived there. New Arbat is a modern designed street with contemporary installations, benches and buildings.
6. Cathedral of Christ the Savior (view point)
Храм Христа Спасителя (смотровая площадка)
The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour (Храм Христа Спасителя,) is a Russian Orthodox cathedral in Moscow, Russia, it is the tallest Orthodox Christian church in the world. More info about this one is here, check it out.
The entry is free but if you want to go to see a view point the ticket cost as I remember around 200 rubles.
7. Kitay-Gorod district, Maroseyka st
Район Китай-города, ул. Маросейка
I love this street for its wonderful atmosphere. You may feel an old Moscow here. There are plenty of nice buildings, cafes with terraces outside, churches. Order a cup of coffee and watching people walking by.
8. Gorky park
Парк Горького
Has a huge territory. It’s a very popular place in the capital. In warm time of a year, you will see many people of different ages, cultures, styles , you may take a participation in dancing classes which are held on the embankment of Moscow River, watch movies under the sky, listen to music bands, have a rest near lakes or river, ride on bicycle or other strange vehicle.
9. Zaryadye Park
Парк Зарядье
I add this one, because it’s a new park which was finished in 2017. This project was a new and innovative for Moscow. You will see the floating bridge, amphitheater with futuristic roof, media centers. I think this is worthy of your attention.
Ulitsa Varvarka 6, Building 1
10. The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts
Музей изобразительных искусств имени Пушкина
This is one of my favorite museums. It looks like an ancient temple of Greece but in the center of urban life. Art Collection is different, you will find sculptures, paintings, and graphics of outstanding European artists of different centuries.
This building is more than 100 years old.
Mostly there are many people want to get there and avoiding waiting in a line you may buy tickets online.
300 rubles for adults
Moscow, Russia, Volkhonka 12
These were 10 places where you can go and feel real Moscow life. Thanks for your attention. Welcome! Bye!

Moscow - Tour, Sights & History Vlog / RUSSIA
I flew to Moscow for 2 days and it was a dream come true! I've wanted to visit for the longest time and finally I did it.
Firstly, you must know that US citizens must file for a VISA before arriving as you cannot get a visa on arrival. Typically, people use a visa assistance company or do it by themselves through the Russian government website for visas. The cost is $160 USD and the visa is single entry and lasts only as long as your trip there does.
We took the free walking tour and also just explored a lot by ourselves and with friends.

Moscow is the capital and most populous city of Russia, with 12.2 million residents within the city limits and 16.8 million within the urban area. Moscow has the status of a Russian federal city.
Moscow is a major political, economic, cultural, and scientific center of Russia and Eastern Europe, as well as the largest city entirely on the European continent. By broader definitions Moscow is among the world's largest cities, being the 14th largest metro area, the 18th largest agglomeration, the 15th largest urban area, and the 11th largest by population within city limits worldwide. According to Forbes 2013, Moscow has been ranked as the ninth most expensive city in the world by Mercer and has one of the world's largest urban economies, being ranked as an alpha global city according to the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, and is also one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world according to the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index. Moscow is the northernmost and coldest megacity and metropolis on Earth. It is home to the Ostankino Tower, the tallest free standing structure in Europe; the Federation Tower, the tallest skyscraper in Europe; and the Moscow International Business Center. By its territorial expansion on July 1, 2012 southwest into the Moscow Oblast, the area of the capital more than doubled, going from 1,091 to 2,511 square kilometers (421 to 970 sq mi), and it gained an additional population of 233,000 people.
Moscow is situated on the Moskva River in the Central Federal District of European Russia, making it the world's most populated inland city. The city is well known for its architecture, particularly its historic buildings such as Saint Basil's Cathedral with its brightly colored domes. With over 40 percent of its territory covered by greenery, it is one of the greenest capitals and major cities in Europe and the world, having the largest forest in an urban area within its borders—more than any other major city—even before its expansion in 2012.
The city has served as the capital of a progression of states, from the medieval Grand Duchy of Moscow and the subsequent Tsardom of Russia to the Russian Empire to the Soviet Union and the contemporary Russian Federation. Moscow is considered the center of Russian culture, having served as the home of Russian artists, scientists and sports figures and because of the presence of museums, academic and political institutions and theaters.
Moscow is the seat of power of the Government of Russia, being the site of the Moscow Kremlin, a medieval city-fortress that is today the residence for work of the President of Russia. The Moscow Kremlin and Red Square are also one of several World Heritage Sites in the city. Both chambers of the Russian parliament (the State Duma and the Federation Council) also sit in the city.
The city is served by a transit network, which includes four international airports, nine railway terminals, numerous trams, a monorail system and one of the deepest underground rapid transit systems in the world, the Moscow Metro, the fourth-largest in the world and largest outside of Asia in terms of passenger numbers, and the busiest in Europe. It is recognized as one of the city's landmarks due to the rich architecture of its 200 stations.
Moscow has acquired a number of epithets, most referring to its size and preeminent status within the nation: The Third Rome (Третий Рим), The Whitestone One (Белокаменная), The First Throne (Первопрестольная), The Forty Forties (Сорок Сороков), and The Hero City (город-герой). In old Russian the word Сорок (forty) also meant a church administrative district, which consisted of about forty churches. The demonym for a Moscow resident is москвич (moskvich) for male or москвичка (moskvichka) for female, rendered in English as Muscovite.Wikipedia

Russia/Moscow (Walking Tour/Gorky Park) Part 13
Welcome to my travelchannel. On my channel you can find almost 1000 films of more than 70 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy!
Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure is a central park in Moscow, named after Maxim Gorky.
Gorky Park, located at Krymsky Val (ru) and situated just across the Moskva River from Park Kultury Metro station, opened in 1928. The park followed the plan of Konstantin Melnikov, a world-famous Soviet avant-garde and constructivist architect, and amalgamated the extensive gardens of the old Golitsyn Hospital (ru) and of the Neskuchny Palace, covering an area of 300 acres (120 ha) along the river.
Gorky Park has always reflected the spirit of its times and social values. At the end of 20th century, concentration on sport - in the best tradition of the Soviet era - retreated in the face of the commercial post-perestroika mood. The time of amusement attractions, numerous small shashlik cafes, advertising banners and entrance-fees had begun. Nevertheless, the Park remained beloved by the people for its shadowed alleys. During the winter the footpaths flood over and freeze, which allows ice-skating around the park. Over the years the rides became decrepit, and the park territory was swamped with cheap attractions and cafes. The new 21st century brought a new wind of change and the need to transform the Park's concept.
In 2011 Gorky Park underwent a major reconstruction. New director of Central Park of Culture and Leisure Sergei Kapkov demolished approximately 100 attractions and illegal objects. More than two thousand square meters of new asphalt roadbed was laid on the site of demolished objects and 1.9 ha of new lawns and flowerbeds were laid out. All amusement rides but one, a two deck carousel, have been removed in order to transform the place into an eco-friendly recreational zone. Free entry, Wi-Fi coverage, new zones of contemporary design, a well thought-out events program have transformed Gorky Park into one of the epicenters of life in the capital. In order to create something new, it was necessary to clean the park of abandoned buildings, carts, tents, advertising structures and attractions. Renovation of monuments, cleaning the ponds and delivering soil and grass turf started. Gorky Park was transformed in several months, becoming the first Russian park that could now compete with the leading parks of the world. A 15,000 square meter ice rink, with separate zones for children, hockey, dancing, and general skating, was officially opened in December 2011.
Shortly after he took over the park, Sergei Kapkov was appointed to the role Moscow Government Minister and Head of the Department of Cultural Heritage. Olga Zakharova had replaced Sergei Kapkov and has been holding the position ever since.
