The Church of the Transfiguration, Mount Tabor, Israel The Holy land כנסיית ההישתנות על הר תבור
Short visit in the Church of the Transfiguration that is on the summit of Mount Tabor, in Israel, The Holy land. The church was designed by the Italian architect Antonio Barluzzi in 1924.
It is traditionally believed to be the site where the Transfiguration of Christ took place, an event in the Gospels in which Jesus is transfigured upon an unnamed mountain and speaks with Moses and Elijah
In the courtyard of the church there is a Franciscan monastery that it has a clock tower.
From the balcony there is a view of Moreh and the Jezreel Valley, you can see the Highway 65 from there.
After the end of the visit we drove to to Jezreel Valley and from the vehicle we saw the amazing view of the mountains of Nazareth

נקודת חן ועל גלגלים מגישים לכם ביקור קצר וקליל בכנסיית ההישתנות אשר נמצאת על פסגת הר תבור. הכנסייה תוכננה בידי האדריכל האיטלקי אנטוניו ברלוצי ונחנכה בשנת 1924.
בחצר הכנסייה שוכן מנזר פרנציסקני ועליו מגדל שעון. לאחר הביקור במבנה יצאנו אל החצר ומשם השקפנו אל הנוף היפה של גבעת המורה ועמק יזרעאל הסמוך להר תבור, אפשר לראות גם את כביש 65
לאחר הביקור ירדנו בנסיעה בכביש 7266 אל העמק כאשר מחלון הרכב אנו
רואים את הנוף הקסום של הרי נצרת.

על גלגלים מגישים לכם נסיעה קצרה בת כ- 11 קמ על כביש 7276 וכביש 65 שבגליל התחתון ובשולי עמק יזרעאל. מקיבוץ גזית אל כפר תבור.
את הנסיעה התחלנו ברפת של קיבוץ גזית וראינו את הפרות אוכלות, יצאנו מהקיבוץ ובתחילת הנסיעה ראינו את הר תבור המרהיב ביופיו. עברנו בכפר מצר, קרוב לקיבוץ עין דור ולכפר קיש.
בצומת גזית פנינו ימינה על כביש 65 אל כפר תבור.

A short drive of about 11 kilometers on Route 7276 in the Jezreel Valley and Lower Galilee from Kibbutz Gazit to Kfar Tavor
The ride starts near the cowshed of Kibbutz Gazit where we saw the cows eating. After leaving the Kibbutz we saw Mount Tabor
We drove near the village of Kafr Misr, Kibbutz Ein Dor and Kfar Kish
At Gazit Junction we turned right on highway 65 to Kfar Tavor

על גלגלים מגישים לכם נסיעה בת כ- 7 קמ בהר תבור שבגליל התחתון. התחלנו בכביש 65 העובר לרגלי ההר. מעט לפני כפר תבור פנינו אל כביש הגישה ליישוב הבדואי שבלי - אום אל - גנם (בחלק של שבלי). בקטע זה שביל ישראל חופף לכביש בכחצי קמ. לאחר שיצאנו מהכפר פנינו שמאלה אל כביש 7266 ועלינו אל פסגת ההר דרך יער עצי אורן. הנסיעה מסתיימת בחניון הנופש של שמורת הר תבור, צמוד לכנסיית ההישתנות

Drive of about 7 km on the Mount Tabor in the lower Galilee. Israel. We started on Highway 65. Shortly before Kfar Tavor, we turned left onto the access road to the Bedouin village Shibli–Umm al-Ghanam (الشبلي - أم الغنم).
We drove about half a kilometer on the overlapping section of the
Israel National Trail
After we left the Bedouin village, we turned left onto Route 7266 and started to climb Mount Tabor through a forest of pine trees
The journey will end at the summit of Mount Tabor, near The Church of the Transfiguration

Israel what to see, Mount Tavor
Mount Tavor is located in the lower Galilee, standing 600 meters above sea level, it is surrounded by rather flat and fertile land therefor it stands out from afar.
Mt Tavor is referred to in the Old and New Testaments, this is the area where the 'Battle of Mount Tavor' took place between the Israelites and the Canaanites.
Before the Roman invasion Mount Tabor was one of the mountain peaks on which it was the custom to light fire beacons to inform the surrounding villages of Jewish holy days and of the beginning of the new Jewish month.
In the past one had to climb 4300 steps to reach the top, today however there is a narrow access road.
On top of the mount is the Franciscan Monastery, built in 1924 on the ruins of a more ancient Crusader Fortress and Church. The entrance gate to the Church compound is the original (restored) Crusader gate.
Today the Church grounds are open to visitors.

Mount Tabor Transfiguration occurred 6 miles East of Nazareth. Basilica built in 1924 to commemorate the Transfiguration. Church is dedicated to Jesus, Moses, and Elijah
Green Mount Tabor in the Jezreel Valley
On our way from Yavne'el to Jerusalem, Netanya or Haifa we almost always pass Mount Tabor.
This is where the Judge Deborah and Barak defeated Sisera.
“And Deborah said to Barak, Arise; for this is the day in which God has delivered Sisera into your hand. Has not God gone out before you? So Barak went down from Mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.” (Judges [4:14])
Kfar Tavor is a Jewish Moshava (farming village) that was established at the beginning of the 20th century around the same time as our village Yavne'el. It is situated at the base of the mountain opposite the Arab village of Shibli and Daburaya. Notice the similarity between the name Daburaya and Deborah.
One of the ways archeologists identified the biblical towns associated with digs was that nearby Arab villages maintained references to the original Hebrew biblical names!

Marzipan Museum - Kfar Tavor Israel
Have you ever seen a Marzipan Elvis? Just down the road from us is a unique family attraction - the Marzipan Museum at Kfar Tavor.
Part of the new visitor center at the popular Tavor Winery it's a fun activity for the whole family. There are amazing sculptures of celebrities and politicians as well as fairy tale characters.
It's a family run business and you can watch the owners make the marzipan and praline chocolates.
After a short film there's a delightful workshop where you can make your own models from marzipan or chocolate -- with help from expert instructors who adapt the workshop to every age from 3 to 93. Of course at the end, you can take your works home or eat them on the way. (ingredients supervised by the regional rabbi).

Mount Tabor in Israel, Church of the Transfiguration
Mount Tabor is located in Lower Galilee, Israel, at the eastern end of the Jezreel Valley, west of the Sea of Galilee. It is the site of the Transfiguration of Jesus. It is known as Har Tavor in Hebrew, Itabyrium in the Graeco-Roman world, Jebel et-Tur in Arabic, and the Mount of Transfiguration in Christian context.
Between 1919 until 1924 an impressive Roman Catholic church of the Franciscan order named Church of the Transfiguration was built on the peak of Mount Tabor. The architect who designed the church, among many other more in the Holy Land, was Antonio Barluzzi. The church was built upon the ruins of a Byzantine church from the fifth or sixth century and a Crusader church from the 12th century. The friars of the church live next to the church in a monastery established in 1873.
