Hiking New Zealand//Mt Holdsworth
New Zealand has endless amounts of hiking trails, its often tough to decide on what one to do. We decided on the 24km Mt Holdsworth Jumbo Circuit located near Masterton, Wellington. Along the track we stayed in 2 huts, Powell Hut (1st night) and Atiwhakatu Hut (2nd night).
While it was a tough walk, the impressive views and stunning weather helped us take our minds off the next uphill climb.
We had great clear and warm weather along the Ridgeline, however it was unfortunately raining on the last day (reason for switching from the Sony to the GoPro).
If you have any questions about this or any other hike around Wellington, Id be happy to help out!

Nz Bush walk. Tararua forest park, Wairarapa New Zealand
Here is a quick video on our favourite bush walk, Tararua forest park, Mount holdsworth, 17 minutes drive from Masterton, New Zealand. It is such a beautiful place to be, the sweetness of the air, the native New Zealand bush is just heaven!

NEW ZEALAND - Lake Wairarapa 2016
4th February 2016. It was near the end of a 100-mile day cycling in the hot weather in New Zealand. I'd started the day in Woodville and followed highway 2 through Masterton and Featherston where I bought a couple of Kingfisher strong beers before heading down the Rimutaka Cycle Trail to Palliser Bay and the DOC campground on the southern tip of the north island.
The road there was empty and wild. I was alone. My other two friends had taken another route south. I stopped at a small clearing on the shore of Lake Wairarapa to enjoy my beer and babble at the camera. Here's my video-blog for the day.

Tramping in New Zealand (Mt Holdsworth - The Tauraruas)
Some video stuff from the Tauraruas (about 50km north of Wellington) - some good bits put into one. With some overlay video of Tuis.
First follows the boadwalk just after Donnelly flats, then the view from the bridge near the carpark. Then the view from Mt Dick (yes - that's it's real name) over the Wairarapa plains followed by the view from Mt Holdsworth itself, finishing with footage from Kiriwhkakapapa.
This looks quite cool on my laptop but but very low quality here - think I might have some LP footage in it somewhere that makes youtube software drop the quality down for the whole thing.

Windy on Mitre, Tararua Range, NZ Jan '07
Windiest environment I have experienced. Gusts easily over 100 mph by estimate. Speed can be noticed when a cloud passes over the ridge.
Got home and checked the weather channel, it showed a low out in the Pacific and a high in the Tasman and a jet stream in between - where I was - shooting north-east out into the pacific. I had no idea it was so windy whilst ascending, since it was completely serene in the valley.
Alone, crossing that last ridge was a tad scary. Gusts pushed me down (I walked low and slow, if not I was asking to be blown down the slope) and excess straps whipped my face; quite nasty, so I tied them together to stop them.
