Jurassic Technology Museum- Culver City Ca.
Very interesting museum in Culver City Ca. Very dark in there, so sorry for the quality.
The Museum Of Jurassic Technology, Los Angeles
The museum contains an unusual collection of exhibits and objects with varying and uncertain degrees of authenticity. New York Times critic Edward Rothstein described it as a museum about museums, where the persistent question is: what kind of place is this? Smithsonian magazine called it a witty, self-conscious homage to private museums of yore . . . when natural history was only barely charted by science, and museums were closer to Renaissance cabinets of curiosity. In a similar vein, The Economist said the museum captures a time chronicled in Richard Holmes's recent book The Age of Wonder, when science mingled with poetry in its pursuit of answers to life's mysterious questions.
Lawrence Weschler's book, Mr. Wilson's Cabinet of Wonder: Pronged Ants, Horned Humans, Mice on Toast, And Other Marvels of Jurassic Technology, attempts to explain the mystery of the Museum of Jurassic Technology. Weschler deeply explores the museum through conversations with its founder, David Wilson, and through outside research on several exhibitions. His investigations into the history of certain exhibits led to various results of authenticity; some exhibits seem to have been created by Wilson's imagination while other exhibits might just be displayed in the Natural History Museum. The Museum of Jurassic Technology at its heart, according to Wilson, is a museum interested in presenting phenomena that other natural history museums are unwilling to present.

MUSEUM OF JURASSIC TECHNOLOGY
Explanation of two exhibits in the Museum of Jurassic Technology, Culver City, CA: string games of Oceania collected by Kathleen Haddon and the experimental space-orbit of dogs in the former USSR. I also ruminate on how the exhibitions both blur and synthesize science and fiction.

Museum of Jurassic Technology Part 1 I Driven: True Stories of Inspiration I Exploratorim
The Museum of Jurassic Technology in Los Angeles holds many splendid,
unique, and puzzling treasures. It's a carnival of delights and ideas, weaving
art and science, fiction and data, all together into something enchanting and
joyful. In this first of two segments on the museum, curator David Wilson
describes the origins of the project. He says, I wanted to know, I was
compelled to know, what would happen if a person put everything they had, all of their emotional, financial, spiritual resources behind a single project.

Museum of Jurassic Technology
The Museum of Jurassic Technology is located in Culver City, California. Culver City is central to the LA basin. This Museum is a collection of old and obscure science that has since been debunked. It is a lot of fun, interesting and worth a couple of your hours to visit. Visit the tea room on the upper level and make sure you see the birds on the roof.
Museum of Jurassic Technology Part 2 I Driven: True Stories of Inspiration I Exploratorium
The Museum of Jurassic Technology in Los Angeles, California, is an encyclopedic museum holding many splendid, unique, and puzzling treasures. It's a carnival of delights and ideas, many of them outside of the commonly held canons of fact and accomplishment. It slips around the question, 'is it real?', refusing to pit fact against fiction or art against data, instead weaving it all together into something more mysterious and joyful. In this second of two segments on the museum, curator David Wilson welcomes us into his worlds of inspiration, and parts the curtain to reveal how this impossible place indeed exists.

The Museum of Jurassic Technology
The museum claims to have a specialized repository of relics and artifacts from the Lower Jurassic, with an emphasis on those that demonstrate unusual or curious technological qualities. This explains the museum's name and also suggests its puzzling nature, since the Lower Jurassic ended over 150 million years before the appearance of hominoids and in particular before anything that could be called technology.

Jurassic Exhibits
The Museum of Jurassic Technology has an odd name. This is because the Jurassic period lasted from 206 to 144 million years ago, well before modern humans appeared on the scene in the last few million years. How could there be Jurassic technology if we think of technology as a human achievement?
The title immediately sets up a puzzle for people going to the museum and opens up a reminder that museums give us certain information which people rarely question. The museum is filled with examples of technologies, artistic achievements, and religious ideas that all combine to startle the viewer and make us re-think what museums should do and make us question *how* we know what we know. This museum is a must-do if you ever find yourself in the Southern California area, but be prepared! It might raise more questions than it answers which is probably good. It is a quirky blend of information and art. Enjoy!
