LEAD IN:
An organisation in Peru dedicated to the restoration of Christian art is a resounding success.
The restoration centre of the National Institute of Culture in Cuzco (known in Peru as INC) has restored 401 pieces of art from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries to their former glory.
Now more than one hundred canvases, sculptures, and altars from different churches in the region are expected to be restored by the end of this year.
STORYLINE:
Peru's colonial legacy includes numerous Catholic churches filled with paintings and sculptures of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary and numerous saints.
The National Institute of Culture (INC) receives and collects art works that need repair from churches and cathedrals in the Cuzco region.
Many of the sculptures are in a serious state of disrepair and others are missing legs or arms.
The centre also recovers religious canvases which have been neglected and abandoned.
Ana Maria Galvez is the Deputy Director of the Preservation of Cuzco Cultural Heritage.
She says that the condition of many of the pieces is very bad but that the restoration process has a wonderful effect.

Convento de Sto Domingo, Lima, Peru, HD, Convent of St. Domingo.
Amazing scenes inside the convent, Discover how beatiful was St. Rose of Lima? The Library is a real charm, full of ancient books, before the printing.

TRIP TO CUSCO PERU - TOP THINGS TO SEE - VLOG
Cusco is the historic capital of the Inca Empire. In 1983, Cusco was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site and has become a major tourist destination, attracting over 2 million visitors per year. In this vlog, we cover the Incan archaeological sights and the Spanish Colonial historic sights.
Our Peru Tour:
We travel from Lima to Cusco with Latin Escapes Tours. Cusco has a high altitude of about 11,000 feet. The first day we rested and sipped the local remedy, coca tea to adjust to Cusco's high altitude.
Our city tour of the Inca Royal City of Cusco starts in the very impressionable Central Square, known as the Plaza de Armas, which is surrounded by a beautiful stone arcade. Plaza de Armas is also the city's center point for activity, including performances, music, and fútbol parades.
In the Plaza is the Cathedral, which is exceptional because of its contrasts of styles. The first cathedral built in Cusco is the Iglesia del Triunfo, built in 1539 and the basilica was constructed using the stone extracted from the blocks of Incan fortress Saksaywaman.
The Church of the Society of Jesus, (commonly known as the Jesuits), was constructed in 1576 and its main altar is made of carved wood covered with gold leaf.
The Covent of Santo Domingo was built above the most important Inca Temple, the Temple of the Sun, or Koricancha, as it was known in the Inca language Quechua. Gold laminas or sheets covered the original Inca Temple walls.
Near the City of Cusco, you will visit the extraordinary Inca Fortress Sacsayhuaman, made up of three gigantic terraces, superimposed in a zigzag form, and surrounded by enormous walls of rock, some of which are up to 300 meters in length.
Qenqo, was a religious center formed by a singular flowering of calcareous rock. It has underground galleries and a semicircular amphitheater with a series of stone seats.
Puca Pucará or the Red Fort was military base made up of stone stairways, terraces, and walls. Nearby is Tambomachay, well known as Baths of the Incas, a place dedicated to the cult of the water, formed by aqueducts, channels and small cascades worked in the rock.
We visit Museo de Arte Precolombino which has an impressive collection of indigenous crafts, jewelry, and ceramics drawn from all regions of pre-Columbian Peru.

Trujillo – Known as the Peruvian Capital of Culture, this Spanish colonial city in the northern desert of Peru is a vibrant place, with colorful architecture and proud Latino traditions.
When ready, browse vacation packages to Trujillo:
A #Trujillo #vacation will invite you to #explore the ancient ruins of lost civilizations which dot the surrounding desert coast. Some 2,000 years ago, the Moche people and later the Chimú, managed to cultivate the arid Moche Valley and build thriving cities such as Chan Chan, made entirely from adobe bricks.
These pre-Columbian civilizations also created the mighty Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon, wove reed fishing boats and dug canals for irrigation.
The museum in the coastal site of El Brujo contains a tattooed mummy of a warrior leader or priestess, who was dubbed the Lady of Cao. Find out more about these ancient cultures in Trujillo’s Archaeological Museum. Then, admire the region’s pure-bred Paso Horses during a Marinera show with costumed dancers. End your stay with a visit to the Cathedral and Freedom Monument on Plaza de Armas in the city’s picturesque Historic Centre.

Visit Peru Travel Guide | Best things to do in Perú:
So we're off the train and this marks the start of the Inca Trail.
So I guess we should explain that we aren't doing the traditional Inca trail. Normally you can do a four day walk or a 10 day walk. We're actually only doing a two day walk. We're not really lazy it is just kind of how it happened. Come on we are. Maybe, maybe just a little bit. We crave our comfort. So basically we're going to be hiking for a full day and then we're going to get to our Aguas Calientes and stay in a hotel. We're not staying in tents. And then the following day we'll be touring Machu Picchu with a guide and like learning the history of the place. So I guess really it is only one day walking the Inca Trail but we're going to say two to feel a little better about ourselves.
So within five minutes of walking we've already reached our first Inca site.
Machu Picchu! Machu Picchu! We made it. How are you feeling? I know. After that long hike. It is amazing. And we're so lucky to have views like this because apparently it was raining for three days before we did this hike. I know. And we have sunshine and blue skies and the lost city is waiting for us. Just over there.
Going for the Llama selfie.
We're going to be trying some traditional food from Cusco.
So we are taking a really fun overnight trip from Puno today to visit Lake Titicaca. Yeah, we're going to visit several islands and do a homestay overnight. Yeah, and we'll get to meet the different communities that live here because we have Aymara people and Quechua people.
Many travelers to Peru tend to skip over Lima as they rush off to more scenic destinations, but we’re of the opinion that the capital has a lot to offer. As one of the largest cities in South America, Lima can be a little chaotic and crowded, but it is also full of surprises, especially in terms of culinary experiences and historic attractions. In this travel video guide, we’re going to take you on a tour of the city and show you 30 things to do in Lima, Peru. Now let’s get started!
After spending some time in Lima, we flew into Iquitos for the final leg of our Peruvian adventure. The landscape changed from arid deserts to mountains and finally to jungle as our flight crossed the country, and once we arrived, the first thing we did was hop into a tuk-tuk to take us into the city.
So we have made it to Iquitos.
Hello from the shores of the Amazon river. This is a pretty cool place to be wouldn't you say? Yeah, this is a bucketlist item for us definitely. So we are currently cruising down the Amazon with Rainforest Cruises. We're going to be spending four days and three nights aboard the Delfin number one.
