Welcome to the Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester
This short video shows the work of the volunteers at Manchester's Museum of Transport as they care for the buses, photos and other exhibits at the UK's premier volunteer-run bus museum. From a timetable to a ten-ton bus, the Museum looks after a collection that brings back memories of journeys to school or work, and trips to the seaside.

Moving trolleybuses at the Museum of Transport Greater Manchester
In December 2018, the Museum of Transport Greater Manchester spent a day moving vehicles to improve displays and position buses in the workshop to receive attention. Two of the most rare and interesting moves were those of our trolleybuses, Manchester and 1250 which have not ventured outdoors for many years.
The moves inside the Museum were performed pushing by hand: the transfer from upper hall to lower hall used our AEC ‘Matador’ tow lorry, itself a Museum exhibit and almost eighty years old.
The moves were steady and careful, bearing in mind both the age of the vehicles and the need for personal safety, so this may not be a spectacular video; but it does capture a very unusual vehicle movement and the first time a trolleybus has been seen on the streets of Manchester for many years.

'Transpo 50' cavalcade, Museum of Transport Greater Manchester, October 2019
The start of the Museum of Transport Greater Manchester 'Transpo 50' cavalcade, 19 October 2019. I was piloting Rochdale 235.
Yes I know some of the buses are smoky - we'd only just set off and the engines were cold. With these old design of engines, smoke is inevitable until they warm up - even idling doesn't really do the trick, they have to be used under load for a few minutes and then the smoke clears, as it did shortly after this video was taken.

Vlog #32 | Transpo50 at Museum of Transport
Museum of Transport, next to Go North West's Queens Road depot near Manchester, held a bus rally on 20th October 2019 celebrating the formation of Passenger Transport Executives (PTE) operating buses in UK cities and towns in 1969 until deregulation in 1986. PTEs since then continued to operate as a local transport authority for each city/town today (such as bus stops, timetable info etc).
I went on 4 Leyland Atlanteans and a Daimler Fleetline. Because their bodywork is similar, i kept saying Fleetline when it's actually Atlantean lol although the last bus i went on was correct.

Visiting the Manchester Museum for Transport | Manchester Vlog
Early in November I spent some of my annual leave in Manchester and this is just one of the things I got up to: visiting the Museum of Transport for Greater Manchester.
The Museum itself is aimed at preserving the public transport heritage, and it does this mainly through the voluntary work of it's members combined with the odd donation and heritage events they throw throughout the year.
The museum itself was quite interesting; it's basically a massive garage with various incarnations of buses looming over you. Whilst the vast majority were closed off we eve had the opportunity to board a few examples - and that was scary!
