The Museum of the Word and Image is an institution dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and investigation of content related to El Salvador's history. MUPI is a space where social memory is shared with Salvadoran and international people.

In case you don't know us - let us introduce ourselves - we are Chris (48) & Marianne (51). We are a married travel couple. We recently quit our jobs and sold our belongings to travel full time.

A 34 años de su muerte salvadoreños visitaron la cripta de Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero. (24/03/2014).

En los tours de cicloturismo descubrimos lugares que, aunque ya hayamos conocido antes, debido a las personas que ahí se encuentran o al momento exacto de nuestro pedalear por ese lugar, estos adquieren un significado diferente por sus historias y relatos. En nuestra visita a la ciudad de Zacatecoluca visitamos el monumento al prócer José Simeón Cañas, libertador de los esclavos de Centroamérica. Este monumento posee un gran significado histórico para los salvadoreños.
Este es el caso del monumento para conmemorar el bicentenario del natalicio de José Simeón Cañas, libertador de los esclavos en Centro América, un hermoso monumento con tres imágenes de cuerpo completo tallado en bronce, realizado por el artista español Benjamín Saúl Rodríguez. Este monumento fue develado el 31 de diciembre de 1967 para honrar el gran legado de este notable salvadoreño, quien ofrendó su vida en beneficio de una humanidad en libertad.

Salvadorans celebrated that many consider to be Pope Francis' historic declaration that Archbishop Oscar Romero died a martyr. Romero is thus almost certain to be beatified and possibly declared a saint. The progressive San Salvador bishop was gunned down in 1980 by a right-wing death squad due to his crusading efforts on behalf of the poor and against the local oligarchy. teleSUR
