Abandoned Boys Reformatory School UK
Now abandoned Eastmoor Approved School was by no means a holiday camp. The chapel that had been turned into a gym was also used to dish out punishment. A former pupil spoke of being bent over the gym horse and been smacked on the bare arse several times by the Head Master....
In the early part of the 20th century many Reformatorys around the country became Approved Schools. And in 1933, The Leeds Reformatory became Eastmoor Approved School. Approved schools were run by local authorities rather than the prison service and they dealt with younger children...
... Various buildings were added to the site throughout the latter half of the 19th century, including a workshop built by the boys in 1859. A chapel was also added to the site in 1881, although it had no priest and was never consecrated.
The boys were taught trades, such as; Joinery, tailoring, shoemaking, farm work, calligraphy, building trades, cooking and blacksmithing...
The Leeds Reformatory for Boys School was founded in 1857, in Adel, a suburb in North Leeds. The location was purposely chosen to take the boys away from the temptations of the city. By 1858 around 50 boys were living at the school...
.. The swimming pool! We're on our third swimming pool we've found whilst Urban Exploring now. And they always take your breath away when you unknowingly stumble across one. This is our biggest so far. That's the beauty of Urbex, you never know what's round the next corner. ????
The swimming pool was added to the Reformatory in 1887. It was used by community groups as well as the inmates, were swimming and life saving was taught. It's now one of the oldest remaining swimming pools in the country.
By the 1960's Eastmoor Approved School had 120 boys living there. The boys were taught trades such as carpentry, building and engineering. They were also aloud to join the Army Cadets and Civil Defence. The boys also enjoyed camping trips and days out around Yorkshire...
That's all folks, from Eastmoor Approved School. I hope you've enjoyed and thanks for viewing

This Is Kelham (App): 12:31
Kelham Island has the best pub crawls in the country, full of award winning pubs. Many people like to start out at the amusingly named Bar Stewards micropub on Shalesmoor. Right across the road from that is the excellent Shakespeares with its massive menu of hand-pull drinks. It is then just a short walk to the extremely popular Kelham Island Tavern. This amazing pub is the only venue to have won the CAMRA’s national Pub of the Year award in two consecutive years.
If you’re arriving to the area on the Supertram, the Shalesmoor stop sits right next to The Wellington, the tap pub of the Neepsend Brewery. From there is is a hop over the crossings to get to the likes of The Ship, a historical pub which has been refurbished to a high standard in the last few years. It is said that two seamen, possibly smugglers, drowned during the Sheffield Flood of 1864 in secret tunnels under the pub.
Probably the most important pub in Kelham Island is The Fat Cat.
But what if Real Ale just isn’t your thing? Kelham Island has pretty much everyone covered. The Kelham Wine Bar is situated just at the end of the Ball Street bridge alongside its sister venue Graffiti Bar and Kitchen, which happens to have a lovely cocktail menu as well as a funky outside pod dining area.
Sat atop recycled shipping containers at the Krynkl complex is INC, Sheffield’s first rooftop bar. Some of the best Beer Gardens in Sheffield can be found in Kelham Island, such as Riverside Kelham. Remember to nip across the bridge for a good view of the famous artwork by Phlegm on the wall behind here.
The Milestone started the revolution of Kelham Island as a food destination.
What a place Cutlery Works is! Located in and named after the old Rutland Cutlery Works on Neepsend Lane, this amazing building has 14 food outlets and 3 bars on 2 floors - making it the largest foodhall in the North of England.
A must-visit event is Peddler, a night market that takes place at 92 Burton Road warehouses on the first Friday and Saturday of every month. This incredible space houses a huge rotating assortment of street food vendors, drinks, makers’ stalls, art and live music.

The Hobonichi Weeks: What Worked and What Didn't. What I Will Change or Keep for 2020? - Planner UK
In this video I talk through why I love the Hobonichi Weeks, what worked for me and what didn't work for me when using the Hobonichi Weeks and Weeks Mega this year.
I used the Weeks for both personal and work planning. I had two Weeks - one was very minimal and functional and the other used a lot of stickers and washi tape. Some things worked well for me and other elements I will be changing for 2020 to make it work better for me going forward.
I love the Weeks as it is so versatile but the last 12 months have enabled me to figure out the perfect planning system for me and find planner peace in 2020... For a short time at least!
For 2020 I am using a Sneaker Mega Weeks in Raspberry. This will be my diary and every day carry (EDC).
In a future video I will talk through my top hacks for the Hobonichi Weeks. Please subscribe so you get notified!
What planner are you using for 2020? What do you love or hate about the Hobonichi Weeks? What are you changing for next year? Let us know in the comments below.

Salford Quays Cityscape Photography with Mali Davies
In this week's video I travel to the Salford Quays for my third vlog of a long day, but not to worry as I have the company of fellow vlogger Mali Davies to keep me going!!
The subject of this week's vlog is some blue hour/night cityscape photography at Media City. I again shoot panoramas but this time I have a nodal slider to help with the converging verticals issue.
The Salford Quays is a fantastic place and I only scratched the surface with all of the potential images there so I have no doubt that I'll be back for some more cityscape photography there.
I hope that you enjoy the vlog!
If you have a moment, please feel free to check out my website. It is still a work in progress, but I'm adding to it all the time and have recently added some galleries...

SUBSCRIBE and SMASH your BUCKET LIST! A Former Royal Marines Commando Shows You How
You get ONE life - if you live it right ONE is enough!
Do you want to SMASH your bucket list but don't know how? I'm Chris Thrall, a former Royal Marines Commando. SUBSCRIBE and I will show you!
Chris Thrall was born in South-East London. Aged eighteen, he joined the Royal Marines Commandos. Following active service in the Northern Ireland Conflict and training in Arctic warfare and survival, he earned his parachutist’s ‘wings’ and operated as part of a high-security detachment on board an aircraft carrier.
In 1995, Chris moved to Hong Kong to oversee the Asia-Pacific expansion of a million-dollar marketing operation he’d built part-time while serving in the forces. Six months later, he was homeless, in psychosis from crystal meth addiction and working as a nightclub doorman for the 14K, Hong Kong’s most ruthless triad brotherhood.
In 2011, Chris wrote the internationally bestselling memoir Eating Smoke, a frank, disturbing yet often hilarious account of his experience. He has spoken on numerous podcasts, radio and television programs and has co-produced two award-wining radio plays on his life and memoir. Forty Nights, Chris’s 2019 follow-up, details how he used chronic addiction as a springboard to achieve all of his life’s goals.
A qualified pilot, skydiver, snowboarder and ultra-runner, Chris has travelled across eighty countries on seven continents, including backpacking through all of North, Central and South America. He has run a sub-four London Marathon and completed a quadruple ironman of a 9-mile swim, 450-mile cycle and 107-mile run. In 2018, with zero training for three years following spinal surgery, he ran an ultra-marathon every day for 37 days, 999 miles from John O’Groats to Land’s End, solo, unsupported and carrying 14kgs of camping equipment, to raise awareness of veterans’ suicide and £18K for charity.
In 1999, Chris firewalked 120 metres over red-hot coals to raise money to work with street children in post-war Mozambique. He has driven aid workers from Norway to India and back on a 1978 British Leyland bus, dived off the cliff in Acapulco, fished for piranhas in the Amazon, scuba-dived with bull sharks in Belize and leopard seals and icebergs while exploring the Antarctic Polar Circle.
For his humanitarian approach to life, Chris was awarded the Second Level Commendation of the Finnish Nation on the grounds of human generosity. He has a degree in youth and community work, is a substance-misuse and addiction specialist and a life-changing speaker. He currently lives in Plymouth, England, where he still intends to become an astronaut, a dolphin trainer or the Milky Bar Kid.
Friends, please support the channel for only £2/$2.50 a month at and in return you’ll get a VIP invite to my annual talk and after-party, a complimentary electronic copy of all my books, a monthly 'insider updates’ and life-skills video, your name in the YouTube podcast credits and the opportunity to request a video. Free Indian Street Food: Samosas, Spring Rolls & Pasta: Punjabi Sikh Langar in Camden Market, London
✓ The S.W.A.T. (Sikh Welfare & Awareness Team) volunteer team regularly serve delicious vegetarian food to the people who need it the most; which usually consists of Spicy Pasta (served piping hot), Punjab Samosas and Spring Rolls + every one is given a Goodie Bag consisting of Chocolate, Crisps, Cans and Bottled Soft Drinks.
Every Monday at 7:30pm in the heart of Camden Town on Camden Market High Street, NW1 (just after the tourists and visitors to the famous markets are gone) arrive a group of volunteers from Southall (around about an hours car drive away) who come specially to feed and offer comfort to the people who need it the most in or society.
It is humbling to know that there are people in this world who are carrying out unconditional service to help the most needy in our society, may God Bless them all for what they do!!!
It is even more humbling to know that the SWAT Team were there as the massive fires tragic events unfolded at West London's Grenfell Tower Block; the volunteer team were giving out food, water, emergency supplies and comfort and support to anyone who required the aid.
The S.W.A.T. team (based in Southall, West London) regularly set up a street kitchen in various locations to provide free food for the people (on the streets of the United Kingdom) who need it the most. (Locations at Charing Cross, Camden Town, Oxford, Southall and Brighton).
Following the principles of Guru Nanak the Sikhs give out free Langar, Langar is Prasad (also known as food blessed by God) so they don't charge for it.

“We have a vision where every person we meet knows they are loved and valued, lives safely, with respect, faith, hope and care for themselves and others, achieving their full potential and positively contributing to and transforming their communities”.
We work on the ethos of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings who was the first Guru of the Sikhs of:
Naam Japna; remembering God.
Kirat Karni; earning an honest living.
Vand Kay Shako; selflessly serving others, sharing income and resources
The Sikh Welfare & Awareness Team (S.W.A.T) is a charitable organisation based in West London, Our primary function is to unite and transform financially disadvantaged communities by focusing on projects which make a difference to people’s lives in the short term and improve their prospects in the long term. We were founded in 2008 which our first project being a youth club offering regular workshops on substance awareness, informal talks on the Sikh and other faiths and encouraging the children to engage in group discussions and debates on current issues they are facing today such as gang culture, drug addiction, and alcohol abuse, in 2009 we discovered over 200 men sleeping rough on the streets of Southall which then established our Homeless Project where we go out to different areas of the UK to feed the less fortunate. In between this we have established many more projects.
