Falmouth Week Team Joker 2016
A short video showing the challenge and highlights from Falmouth week 2016.
We are a team from Mylor Sailability which is a charity that allows sailors of any disability to enjoy sailing. This will be our first time competing in Falmouth Week and we are also flying a new design of spinnaker which we believe will make downwind sailing more accessible to disabled sailors.
Having had a successful first year competing in local regattas at Mylor Yacht Club they are now ready for their toughest challenge yet with the week long regatta.
Sailing a J24 keel boat Joker, they will be the first small racer and first RYA Sailability group to use a new innovative design of spinnaker which was funded by local businesses.
Skipper Andy said The new sail is designed to fill easier and fly easier than a conventional spinnaker and best of all it doesn't require the cumbersome spinnaker pole making it a brilliant choice for Sailability sailors everywhere.
The crew, Steve (foredeck), Paul (trimmer) and John (tactician) have been training hard and are now challenging able-bodied crews.
Steve said we have been getting more and more competitive. We are really excited to be in our first Falmouth Week, racing twice a day, every day against every club in area.
Skipper Andy explained that none of it would be possible without the support and backing from;
Mylor Sailing School and Sailability -
Mylor Chandlery and Rigging -
Castaways in Mylor -
Mylor Marine Team -
Ancaster Yachts -
These local businesses have given us superb encouragement and we hope we can make them and ourselves proud.

Cornwall circular walk Mylor bridge, Pandora Inn and Restronguet Creek
A beautiful easy circular walk in Cornwall about 4 1/2 miles long. From Mylor Bridge you can stop at the wonderful Pandora Inn half way round.
Parking is free at the Mylor bridge carpark. From here cross the road and pass the post office, go to the creek and follow the footpath sign to Restronguet. You briefly pass through some houses before reaching the creekside. This path leads all the way to the Pandora Inn. After visiting the Pandora you can make the steep climb straight back to the road leading into Mylor Bridge or I would recommend carrying on down the creekside path to Harwyn where you need to make a sharp left turn and follow the path back to the road into Mylor.

Kayak Cornwall: Mylor to Penryn
Due to yet more strong winds and large swells out in the bay we decided to take another river trip, hopefully we can get back on the open sea again soon. We left Mylor yacht harbour mid afternoon and as soon as we rounded the corner realized how breezy it was in the river with the wind blowing about 20 and gusting to 27 mph. The sea started to get lively around Trefusis Point and Kevin's new boat required some re-trimming after we realised that it was riding too high in the bow.

Description
Sunrising was originally built in the 1920's where its thatched roof remained just a few years before our client's family purchased the property in the early 1960's. The family fell in love with the location after renting the property for summer holidays for a few years prior to purchasing.
The property was extensively remodelled and extended with works commencing in 1996. The detached boathouse and slipway was rebuilt a couple of years ago.
Our clients insisted that the build reflect the surroundings as well as capture the outstanding views via picture double glazed windows and sun terraces in all principal rooms, yet offer a combination of open plan formal and informal living. Only by viewing internally can one fully appreciate the depth of family sized accommodation that caters, either as a permanent or second home residence, for the large family that is also versatile and easy enough to manage for the retiring couple.
The views from the property are breathtaking and ever changing. From beautiful sun rises on the Fal Estuary to Restronguet Creek and Penpol, the estuary is a hive of marine activity all year round.
St Melor Holywell, Mylor, nr Falmouth, Cornwall
A delightful surprise... A well dressing...(in Cornwall!!!). In the churchyard. Some doubt its antiquity because there's no mention of it anywhere but in the church guide. There are two St Mylors... One a celtic bishop, son of a duke in Brittany, who sailed to these parts around 400AD, using this well to baptise, the well then becoming a place of pilgrimage, with many cures attributed with it. The water is still used for baptisms. Or, St Melorus, son of Melianus, duke of Cornwall, who after the death of his father his uncle Regnaldus, who then became regent, being pagan pressurised Melorus to denounce his faith, he refused and was dismembered on the 28th August, 411AD. Said to be buried where the church now is, a stone monolith beside the porch marking his tomb. Though it is also said his relics were claimed by Amesbury abbey. Hagiographers have confused names, dates and places almost irretrievably. Could write more but even I'm getting confused. The Celtic cross out side the porch is the tallest in the county.
