What’s on World Wide Campus? - Tokyo held 74th anniversary of Japan’s defeat
For this week on “What’s on World Wide Campus?”, here’s today’s news about Nation marks 74th anniversary of war’s end.
According to The Japan News, The Emperor used the words “deep remorse” during his address at a national memorial service held Thursday in Tokyo to mark the 74th anniversary of the end of World War II.
The Emperor, who ascended to the throne on May 1, and the Empress attended the ceremony held by the government at the Nippon Budokan hall in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, the first of its kind in the Reiwa era. About 6,500 people, including bereaved relatives, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and representatives of various fields, were present to honor the about 3.1 million Japanese people who died in the war.
Among those registered to attend, 53 representatives of families of the war victims from Miyazaki Prefecture were unable to attend the ceremony because their flight was canceled due to Typhoon No. 10.

The story that's called me | Yuka Watanabe | TEDxSapporo
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. An Actress and Model, Yuka Watanabe shares her very personal story of her childhood and family.
An actress and singer, Yuka Watanabe is looking for what she can tell while empathizing people that she meets through activities of teaching English and singing.
After she entered the School of Musical Theatre at Arts Educational School in England, she belonged to a choir and played and sang at various large halls and churches in Europe such as Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. At the time of graduation, she earned the prize of “the Best Singer of the Year.” She was selected as a finalist of a soprano solo section at the classical music contest, “Three Rivers Young Musician of the Year” which was held in England.
Following graduation, she entered the Vocal department at Royal Academy of Music. She sang Beethoven Symphony No.9, which was conducted by Sir Collin Davis, an internationally renowned conductor.
In Japan, she became a Hokkaido representative of Miss Universe Japan 2012 as well as a national semi-finalist, which was in the top 14. She appeared as a fashion model and a solo singer at an art show which is sponsored by Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and an event held by Hanii Ito, a designer of Hany Wedding.
She has performed two roles including the leading part in a short film of Sapporo Movie Sketch 2014 and also translated and dubbed the film into English.

Mitama-Matsuri began in 1947, after the events of ancient Japan Bon, now it is popular as a summer tradition of Tokyo, crowded with worshipers of 300,000 people every year.

It is located on the northwest coast of the world's most populous island, Java. it is the centre of economics, culture and politics of Indonesia. It hosted a population of 10,075,310 as of 2014. The Greater Jakarta metropolitan area has an area of 6,392 square kilometers, which is known as Jabodetabek (an acronym of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi). It is the world's second largest urban agglomeration (after Tokyo) with a population of 30,214,303 as of 2010. Jakarta is predicted to reach 35.6 million people by 2030 to become the world's biggest megacity. Jakarta's business opportunities, as well as its potential to offer a higher standard of living, attract migrants from across the Indonesian archipelago, combining many communities and cultures.Established in the 4th century as Sunda Kelapa, the city became an important trading port for the Sunda Kingdom. Jakarta has grown more rapidly than Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Beijing.Jakarta's major challenges include rapid urban growth, ecological breakdown, gridlock traffic and congestion, poverty and inequality and flooding. Jakarta is sinking up to 17 cm (6.7 inches) per year, which, coupled with the rising of sea level, has made the city more prone to flooding.
