DAY TRIP around the NATIONAL MUSEUMS of Santiago!! (300 | Chile Travel VLOG)
29 September 2019 - Day 38 - Museos de Santiago
VLOG 300
Santiago has more than 50 museums including 3 national museums. 1. Museum of National History 2. National Museum it Natural History 3. National Museum if Fine Arts. I’m not an arts kinda guy so today we are checking out the other 2!! ????????
First stop is Museo de National located in Parque Quinta Normal. Founded in 1830, this museum shows the vast and different geographies throughout Chile from the driest desert in the north to the cold Patagonia in the South????????❄️????. It has 12 exhibitions from botany and zoology to minerals and archeology. In the centre of this building stands a 20m long skeletal model of a Sei Whale!! ????
Next stop we head back to Plaza de Armas, to what seems to be some type of church celebration ⛪️. If there’s one thing about Plaza de Armas is that there is ALWAYS something happening here and never disappoints. We head to a building called The Palacio de la Real Audencia de Santaigo where inside is the National History Museum. Quite a different type of Museum from the first it contains paintings and photos of Chile’s Colonial History. ⚓️
Unfortunately these museums do not cater for the no habla Español tourist so looking at the models, photos and pictures had to do. Plus wasn’t bad expanding my vocabulary and seeing the names of things in Español.
Tonight we head back to Parque Quinta Normal and this place has transformed to a buzzing place filled with families, couples, kids enjoying a sunny Sunday afternoon. Everything from performances, markets, activities in the lake to games for kids, you can really feel the sense of family here and it’s something I know South American culture hold quite strong similar to that of Asian countries. Not stuck in the house on their iPhones and iPads, everyone is out playing and running around is not a common sight you’d see back in Sydney on a normal Sunday afternoon! ????????????????????????????????????????
