National Park Souss Massa
Over the past few decades, Morocco has known the extinction of a large number of animals due to natural and human conditions. Some animals today are on the brink of demise, such as leopard, tiger, seals, lion of the atlas, sea, mama al-Husami and al-Hiram.
To bring these animals back to their original areas, the High Commission for Water and Forests has prepared a program for the settlement of extinct animals, with appropriate conditions for their reproduction. In this context, Al Maha Al Husami, Hama, Ghazal Mehr and the red-necked ostrich were relocated to the National Park of Sous Massa to provide the main herd that will assist in the reconstruction of the Sahrawi national parks that are under development, such as the National Park of Dakhla, Deraa El-Suba and Ereki.
Along the coastal strip between the cities of Agadir north and Tiznit in the south, the National Park of Sousse Massa was established in 1991 on an area of 33,800 hectares. It is characterized by its southern geographical location and diversity of its citizens and the abundance of plant and animal. It is covered by local and settlement plants of tropical, desert, Asian and Mediterranean origin and from the Canary Islands.
The park includes natural habitats, including sand dunes and coastal and interior plains. It includes hill plants, coastal lagoons and argan trees, as well as water plants such as Kalifa and the cane that cover the western banks of Wadi Massa.
The park houses 275 species of birds, 40 species of mammals, 40 species of reptiles and frogs, abundant species of fish, and hundreds of species of insects. One of its most important features is the bald bird, which is considered one of the world's most endangered birds. Two wetlands of extremely global importance to host migratory birds between Europe and West Africa are in the estuaries of Wadi Sous and Wadi Massa and have been classified as Ramsar sites.
Some species of extinct desert animals are scattered in the park, such as the dowry, the maha, the ostrich, and the ostrich. The Regional Directorate of Water and Forests in Souss-Massa has recently relocated and reintroduced a significant number of red-necked ostriches to Tunisia, within the framework of joint cooperation and under a program to settle extinct animals and provide conditions for their reproduction.
3000 inhabitants live in the park, distributed in six Dwyour, and are engaged in the traditional agricultural economy such as grazing, grain planting and honey production, as well as traditional fishing.

Belyounech National Park, Morocco
This short preview, illustrate the whole project of creating a new area of development in Belyounech. this village is bordered on the east by Ceuta_ politically unstable between Morocco and Spain_ and on the west by Tanger Med_ A huge infrastructure and one of the biggest port in the Mediterranean_; the main Idea was to give belyounech an identity, we were amazed by the nature and the landscape of this little village, so we were concentrating on this potentiel to make Belyounech the 10th national park in Morocco, with a unique flora and fauna protected naturally by Jbel Moussa, a mountain with 840m height.
We aim to reverse the flows from belyounech to ceuta by making this park a new zone of incomes to this village and the park can extend to ceuta and delete the borders between Belyounech and Ceuta.

6. SOUNDBITE (French) Mohammed El Bekkay, Manager of the Souss Massa National Park, Morocco:
We have several different types of eco-system. The Argan forest, steps sea cliffs, wetlands, steps by the shore. So all this explains the importance of this natural site for vegetation as well as for animals and what they need to survive. More specifically we note the presence of 250 species of birds in the park, over 300 species of vegetation and twenty mammals.

11. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Abdullah Bouchtawi, Park Guide:
The village people really like the park being here. Even if there isn''''''''t a lot of work, the existence of the park has stopped sand dunes moving. The struggle against desertification is helping them. When the fences were put in place to restrict the animal movements it was possible to stabilise dunes within this area and so their homes are no longer at risk. They are also keen on visiting the park and even those who haven''''''''t been yet are keen on seeing the animals.

15. SOUNDBITE (French) Mohammed El Bekkay, Manager of the Souss Massa National Park, Morocco:
The national park of Souss Massa has a coastal strip of 65 kilometres and so we are under a certain number of pressures. We''''''''re in a region with a lot of agriculture so that means that certain areas are devoted to agriculture. Equally we are in a tourist area and there is demand to develop tourism that is compatible with nature. This will bring in added value and generate the opportunity for local development and so create employment for local people.

17. Various of environmental posters being looked at
18. SOUNDBITE (French) Mohammed Ribi, Head of the High Commission for Water and Forests and the Struggle against Desertification:
For quite a long time we used arguments that weren''''''''t really quite good enough. What we''''''''d say at a certain point was an argument based on species, if I can refer to it as that. We''''''''d say you can''''''''t touch that site because there is a population of such and such a bird. That wasn''''''''t balanced. We have to reason on the global level, on the level of the eco-system. That''''''''s what we''''''''re trying to do now in Morocco. We have a law on environmental impact studies and since 2003 every project of that sort has to be subjected to an environmental impact report.
