Lunada Bay Big Waves - Palos Verdes Estates California - 02/11/2010

Lunada Bay in Palos Verdes Estates in California, big waves day. Palos Verdes Estates is a city, incorporated in 1939, in Los Angeles County, California, USA on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The city was masterplanned by the noted American landscape architect and planner Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. The population was 13,340 in the 2000 census. According to the 2000 US Census, Palos Verdes Estates is the 81st richest place in the United States with at least 1,000 households (based upon per capita income). The 90274 ZIP code (covering all communities within the Palos Verdes Peninsula) was ranked the 47th most expensive housing area among high property value U.S. ZIP codes in a 2007 study by Forbes.com.[5] Palos Verdes Estates is one of the most affluent communities in the nation, comprised of professionals, scientists, educators, and business leaders, and takes pride as a community in its healthy outdoor environment and the continuing success of its nationally prominent public educational system.
Palos Verdes' Malaga Cove Plaza and its classical Neptune fountain (right).
The city is located along the Southern California coastline of the Pacific Ocean. There are several accessible beaches although most of the predominantly rocky shoreline is marked by high cliffs. Three noteworthy Palos Verdes Estate surfriding beaches exist among the estate homes along the coastline, and include: Haggerty's (the rock beach below the Neighborhood Church, site of the former Haggerty Manor estate), the Palos Verdes Bluff Cove Beach (around the point, south of Haggerty's, which includes indicator, little reef, middle, and boneyard surf breaks), and Lunada Bay (occasional large winter waves). Another significant feature of the city is the scenic Palos Verdes Golf Club, a challenging 18-hole golf course and country club, and the Palos Verdes Tennis Club, both premier facilities are restricted for recreational use by city resident-members and guests, and are centrally located within the city. Another popular city landmark atop the Palos Verdes Estates is the La Venta Inn. Built in 1923, La Venta Inn was the first known building structure on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Architects Walter and Pierpont Davis designed the building and the famous landscape architects, the Olmstead brothers, designed its gardens. The La Venta Inn has sensational views of the Southern California coastline.
The city is primarily a high-end residential location, with no traffic lights, and relatively limited commercial shop areas found in Malaga Cove Plaza and Lunada Bay. One of Southern California's most exclusive and expensive neighborhoods, Palos Verdes Estates' aesthetics and architecture are protected by an Art Jury, a non-governmental organization which must approve any exterior alteration to any building, fence, sidewalk, or other structure. For example, residences and business buidings within the city limits have uniform Mediterranian red ceramic tile roofs and often feature architecture with column and arch motifs, resembling European coastal communities.
A substantial amount of land in the community is planned and dedicated as undeveloped open field habitat. The community has an extensive system of hiking trails, and road bike lanes and mountain bike trails. Equestrian facilities and horse trails are nearby.
At the time of the city's incorporation in 1939, the business and shop area around Malaga Cove had most of the Peninsula's earlier buildings. The Malaga Cove Plaza building of the Palos Verdes Public Library, designed by Pasadena architect Myron Hunt, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. Palos Verdes Estates was one of the earliest masterplanned communitites in the United State

Christian Cross Deemed Unconstitutional - Ada, OK
THE CROSS REMAINS FOR NOW... Because of so much public outcry, prayers, action from our listeners and lawmakers, the cross remains on the chapel for now. The bibles and cross and altar have been put back into the chapel. The OK State Attorney General and the Liberty Council have agreed to fight l, should this go to court. Now we are waiting to see if a case is actually filed. Atty Gen Michael Hunter says this could be a test case for the US Supreme Court. ECU President Peirson has been great through all of this. If we lose... crosses on all state owned and federal owned property would likely be forcibly removed. We need your signature at StandForTheCross.com - And thank you for your support and prayers. Randall Christy - Founder of The Gospel Station Network @RandallCChristy - P.S. to get a free copy of the song, I See The Cross, please give us your email address and request the FREE SONG - Other news: Public outcry works in Pensacola FL. In June a judge ruled they must remove the cross from city property. Two months later it remains pending appeal. We must STAND

Christy explains that a DC legal nonprofit called Americans United for Separation of Church and State issued a letter to the university president asking her to remove the Cross atop the 60 yr old chapel.
Attorney Ian Smith, confirmed that he authored a letter to President
Katricia Pierson saying that a cross on a state campus violates the Constitution, which explicitly bars the government from favoring one religion over another. For the government to display a Christian Cross that it owns on Government property, is unconstitutional, it's an endorsement of Christianity, it allies the government with a particular religion in a way that violates the Establishment Clause, Smith said. If it removes the iconography, which is all we're asking for, it then becomes a space that all students can use for religious worship as they see fit...that increases religious freedom for all students.
Pierson said the administration was looking to remove the cross, but reconsidered after Ada, Oklahoma locals flocked to the chapel in opposition. Christy, a pastor in Oklahoma and a East Central alum, led the opposition by organizing a rally, sponsoring a petition and holding events where children paint crosses.

Did Pesident Dave Beauvais lose Control of GHSNC meeting January 5, 2017
It appears President Beauvais lost parliamentary control of the of the Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council meeting on January 5, 2017. After a motion was made to give $3,000 to the Tulsa School Robotics program to buy computers. At time stamp 49:19 he opens the floor to take public comment. He allows the first public comment to become a discussion with questions and answers from multiple stakeholders and board members that goes on for awhile, even after i try to address that the meeting has gotten out of order (time stamp ) No board member makes a POINT OF ORDER and the Parliamentarian, Kabo, did nothing to correct it. There was no roll call vote on the motion to call the question. Very sad :( Two board members , Cindy Wu, Donald Graham and Brad Smith were late and showed up in the middle of the discussion or Brad Smith who arrived need the end of board discussion. I was surprised when all three participated in the vote without the benefit of hearing the whole discussion. Should they have been deemed ineligible to vote or should they have recused themselves and not participated in the vote? To all who are viewing this video - it is only the first hour of the meeting. Any opinion expressed here is my own and is based upon the laws that govern the neighborhood council activities and procedures and are based on my observation of the relevant facts. Mr. Brown Act is not liking it very much :( William Kuzmin - Public Advocate - Granada Hills CA
HISTORIC BLUFF PARK
Historic Bluff Park, one of Long Beach's most affluent neighborhoods, is situated on a prominent bluff above the ocean. This tiny area is only 3 blocks wide, bordered by the ocean to the south and Broadway to the north, and is anchored on the west by the Long Beach Museum of Art. The museum is a 1912 Craftsman mansion, which was built as a summer home for Elizabeth Milbank Anderson, an heiress to the Borden Company.
Bluff Park got its name with the creation of this beautiful park overlooking the ocean. It is a wonderful place to relax, take in the views, people watch or step down to the sandy beach with its jogging and bike paths.
There is a wide variety of architectural styles, including Green and Green, Craftsman, California Bungalow, Spanish Revival and Mediterranean estates built between 1903 and 1949. In fact, the State Historic Resources Inventory has identified 65 of these homes as significant examples of styles of their era. Along with the uniqueness of these estates, the beautiful landscaping greatly contributes to the charm and character of the area. There are no businesses, churches, or public buildings in this historic district. You typically won't see many homes for sale on these streets. Residents love this area and don't want to move.
Come take a stroll down the wide tree lined boulevards, feel the ocean breezes and enjoy the beauty and history. It is a really a treat!
This video montage of the historic Bluff Park District of Long Beach takes you through one of Long Beach's most affluent neighborhoods. Many architectural styles are portrayed, along with stories of well-known celebrities who used to live in Bluff Park, including antics by famous actors. I describe the ambiance, history and things to do, and invite you to come see this beautiful and interesting area for yourself.
Thanks for watching.

Glass Church and Korean Friendship Bell

#KoreanFriendshipBell
Wayfarers Chapel, also known as The Glass Church is located in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. It is noted for its unique modern architecture and location on cliffs above the Pacific Ocean. The church was designed by Lloyd Wright (son of Frank Lloyd Wright) in the late 1940s and was built between 1949 and 1951. As with many of Wright's buildings, the chapel features geometric designs and incorporates the natural landscape into the design. The Wayfarers Chapel is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Because of its scenic location, the church is very popular for weddings, both in the chapel itself and also outside on the chapel grounds.
The Korean Bell of Friendship (more commonly called Korean Friendship Bell) is a massive bronze bell housed in a stone pavilion in Angel's Gate Park, in the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The bell was presented by the South Korean government to the United States to celebrate the bicentennial of the U.S. and to symbolize friendship between the two countries. Beginning in 2010, the bell is ceremonially struck five times a year: on New Year's Eve, Korean American Day (January 13), the Fourth of July, Korean Liberation Day (August 15), and Constitution Day (September 17). The bell is also rung without specific ceremony on the first Saturday of each month at noon, 13 times for the public to enjoy.

Livingston Avenue Theatre - 2017 Most Endangered
7. Livingston Avenue Theatre - 2017 Columbus Landmarks Foundation Endangered Building List
The Livingston Avenue Theatre opened in 1946 as a movie house in the Driving Park neighborhood. The theater boasts an eye-catching Art Deco marquee and styling. Over the decades it has seen several uses (some controversial) but has been vacant for over a decade. The Livingston Area Commission recently approved zoning variances for a proposed 45-unit affordable senior housing development on the site. Proposed plans incorporate the theater’s lobby and façade, but much of the remaining structure will be demolished.

Sheriff Villanueva Meeting At City Of Lomita, California
Sheriff Alex Villanueva is unfit as a chief. So according to him, criminals have more rights than citizens. I complained this man about irresponsible neighbors playing music loud overnight and asked him to go tough against offenders. But instead, Sheriff is making excuses saying that those people have 1st amendment and he can't do nothing about it. So according to this man's logic, if the offenders are in country illegally, they have same constitutional rights as US citizens. This is total insanity of liberalism. Liberals emphasize too much of personal freedoms, but cry foul against personal responsibility. This sheriff also refuses to cooperate with ICE and deport illegal alien criminals because they just committed misdemeanor. If those far left liberals think US is still racist, I recommend them to go to other countries such as Japan and Mexico and look how those countries treat people who violated their immigration law. We are way too compassionate compared to other countries. Anyways, we should recall this man and reelect somebody who are pro American and tough on enforcement.
