Northwest Profiles:Edmonton Neon Sign Museum
Often forgotten and under-appreciated, neon signs have newfound respect in Edmonton. These bright landmarks from the past have been restored and preserved for all to enjoy, through a unique partnership of volunteers, the city, and business. Together, they created the first of its kind in Canada: the Edmonton Neon Sign Museum.
Neon Sign Museum ( Edmonton)
The Neon Sign Museum, the first of its kind in Canada, features a collection of functional historic signs that tell a story about The Neon Sign Museum is part of the City's work to revitalize 104 Street. The City of Edmonton has collected 20 neon signs, all of which have been restored and installed on the east wall of the TELUS building and the south wall of the Mercer Warehouse building on 104 Street and 104 Avenue.
Such a cool collection. Neon signs from old Edmonton businesses that were restored and placed together on a beautiful brick building on popular 104 Street.
At night it's a fun place to stroll and take in the fabulously bright lights. I don't think it should be called a museum though, that's quite misleading. I love this corner of downtown and this project is a great way to showcase these wonderful items of Edmonton's history.
The Museum is outdoors and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No admission is required.

What to do in Edmonton in the summer | Alberta, Canada
Hello summer! Check out this video with Edmonton bloggers Linda Hoang and Janis Galloway exploring some of Edmonton’s top summer spots. They start with a little shopping fun at Plum Home & Design ( in the historic Oliver Telephone Exchange Building. (
From there they head to the 124 Street Grand Market, ( one of Edmonton’s popular farmer’s markets, to score some locally produced food.
After exploring the shops and restaurants along 104 Street, ( the pair head to the Neon Sign Museum ( the first museum of its kind in Canada featuring cool neon signs from Edmonton’s past.
Summer is exciting in Canada’s festival city, especially when you have a pair of locals to show you around. Here’s a few other top spots the pair recommend:
• Old Strathcona ( shopping and entertainment district
• High Level Bridge Street Car (
• Summer festivals ( like the International Jazz Festival, The International Street Performer’s Festival, A Taste of Edmonton, and the International Fringe Theatre Festival - the oldest and largest theatre festival in North America.

Edmonton's NEWEST DINER! Wilfred's - The YEG Lifestyle Ep. 1
Why is everyone talking about Wilfred’s?
What started out as a sandwich shop concept quickly grew into Wilfred’s - a modern diner with a pink twist, located in the booming Brewery District in Oliver.
I sat down with Shaun Brandt to learn the story of how he brought his vision to life, what it’s like running a diner in 2019, and what goes into this Pink Drink everyone keeps ordering.
Shaun describes Wilfred’s as “a refined diner” that feels like a family restaurant. The packed chairs and warm decor really make it feel like home. With plenty of the 100-year old brick heritage building’s character intact, this is exactly what Edmonton needed.
So what IS a refined dining experience in 2019? Is it the food, the drinks, that perfect cup of coffee? Turns out it’s putting a new, but thoughtful spin on all three.
Their rotating bartenders are behind the soon-to-be-famous Pink Drink, a weekly mix of fine spirits that somehow always comes out pink, and delicious!
But at the heart of any diner is its food, and this is where Wilfred’s shines, an eclectic mix of known ingredients presented in new, exciting ways that bring out the flavours of local favourites and keeps you coming back for more.
Lunch (Mon - Fri)
11:00am - 3:00pm
Dinner (Wed - Sun)
5:00pm - 11:00pm
Brunch (Sat + Sun)
9:00am - 3:00pm
They take walk-ins, but I recommend a reservation (line-ups have been known to go around the block). See you there YEG!
