Newborough Forest to Ynys Llanddwyn
In this video I take you on a walk from Newborough Forest to Ynys Llanddwyn (Llanddwyn Island), the home of Santes Dwynwen - the Welsh saint of love. Dydd Santes Dwynwent (St Dwynwen's Day) is celebrated on the 25th January.
The island is also a popular location with filmmakers, having appeared in Half Light (Demi Moore) and Clash of the Titans (Sam Worthington).
The walk starts at the car park in Newborough Forest, just south from the village of Newborough. From the car park, follow the road westwards through the forest before joining Llanddwyn beach. From here, follow the shore on your left until you reach the island. Being an island, access to it does depend on the tide (as I found out filming this video!). I tend to walk around the island in a counter-clockwise direction, but the routes come back to the same point, so it's entirely up to you. After walking around the island, re-trace your steps back to the car park.

Newborough beach to Llanddwyn Island / Ynys Llanddwyn
Is this one of the best beaches in Wales? We reckon it is. Judging by the fact it has won such coveted titles on more than one occasion lots of other people agree with us. As our video shows, from the early wide open stretches of Newborough, to the later sunning, picture postcard coves on Ynys Llanddwyn; it's a beautiful place.

Llanddwyn Island Wales
This video is about Llanddwyn Island in Wales and the strange tale of Saint Dwynwen. If you're visiting the Isle of Anglesey in northwestern Wales, a visit to this sacred island near Newborough Beach and Newborough Forest, makes a fascinating side excursion.

Cilmeri, Llys Rhosyr (near Newborough, Anglesey), 11 Dec 2011
Discovered in 1992 by Archaeologist Neil Johnstone, Llys Rhosyr is one of the Llysoedd or Royal courts of Llywelyn Fawr, Prince of Gwynedd in the 13th century. It is situated in the South West of the isle of Anglesey near Newborough Parish Church on the road leading to the beautiful Llanddwyn island with its popular beaches, where Saint Dwynwen the renowned Welsh Saint of lovers resided. To date only one quarter of the Llys Rhosyr site has been excavated and it is hoped that in the future funds can be raised to further excavate and develop this site.Presently the Interpretation Centre for Llys Rhosyr is based at the Prichard Jones Institute in the of Newborough. Landscape Photography Tree Challenge. Newborough Warren, Anglesey (Ep #079)
In this landscape photography vlog I'm challenged by a viewer to shoot a tree from various perspectives, but limited to using a single focal length for all of the images. I do get to choose the focal length, and discuss my reasoning. It hopefully allows me the optimum flexibility, from a wide angle shot right down to close detail. You might be surprised at the focal length I went with!
I ventured out on a balmy late winter afternoon with my camera gear to Newborough Warren, where I was hopeful of some good golden hour light for my photography. This is a huge area of ancient sand dunes on the isalnd of Anglesey, which is now grassed over and has a few lone pine trees dotted about. I hoped one would be perfect for this project.
What I thought would be a relatively straightforward process turned out to be more photographically challenging than I anticipated. But in equal measure it was also more rewarding than expected! Let me know how you think I interpreted the brief, and your thoughts on the results ...
