It has been a night of wild celebrations and drunken mayhem across Britain as New Year revellers welcomed 2016 by hugging police cars, rolling around in the street and, in some cases, losing their trousers.
Millions of party-goers packed out pubs and clubs, with some braving freezing temperatures, while in the Welsh town of Aberystwyth one woman was seen lying in the road as she and a friend waved goodbye to 2015.
Another was pictured wrapping her arms and legs around a police car.
Revellers were also seen looking a little worse for wear in Swansea, vomiting outside takeaways, being helped off the pavement and having to be carried away as their trousers fell down.

'Feral' gang attacks delivery drivers and steals fast food
Tamika Rosser (bottom centre), 18, ordered takeaway food on the phone then 'trapped' the delivery drivers with two accomplices to steal food in the Penlan area of Swansea. Rosser, Adrian O'Neil (bottom near right), 20, and Jack Delaney (bottom far right), 19, chased their first victim back to his car armed with metal bars after a 'tug of war' over a pizza. Swansea Crown Court heard Rosser rang a branch of Domino's Pizz calling herself 'Jade' and ordered food. Rosser, Delaney and O'Neil then met the driver in the foyer of their block of flats. The group tried to snatch bag of food from the delivery man but, after a brief tug of war, he retreated back to his car - still holding the pizzas (top right). The trio hit the driver in the knee with the metal bar before grabbing the food and taking it back to their flat (left).

Swansea City vs Manchester United 0-2 All Goal & Highlight Extended (EPL Cup) 2017/18
Two fine goals from Jesse Lingard helped Manchester United ease into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup
Jesse Lingard scored twice as Manchester United beat Swansea 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium to reach the Carabao Cup last eight.
A much-changed United side went ahead on 21 minutes through the 24-year-old's nice finish from a clever Marcus Rashford flick, and it was 2-0 on 59 minutes as Lingard's superb, guided header found the corner from Matteo Darmian's delivery.
The result means holders United make the fifth round for only the third time in six years, the draw for which will be made on Thursday at 4pm.
Player ratings
Swansea: Nordfeldt (5), Rangel (5), van der Hoorn (5), Mawson (6), Olsson (5), Ki (5), Mesa (5), Clucas (5), Routledge (4), Ayew (5), McBurnie (5)
Subs: Naughton (5), Fer (5), Abraham (5)
Man Utd: Romero (6), Darmian (7), Lindelof (5), Smalling (6), Blind (6), Tuanzebe (6), Herrera (6), Lingard (8), McTominay (7), Martial (6), Rashford (7)
Subs: Matic (5), Lukaku (5). Shaw (NA)
Man of the match: Jesse Lingard
After an even opening with several half-chances for both sides, United took the lead midway through the first half through Lingard.
Ander Herrera's low pass into Rashford's feet was flicked on brilliantly by the forward, and Lingard, who had plenty to do from just inside the area, found the bottom right corner past the diving Kristoffer Nordfeldt.
Swansea reacted well, and nearly levelled in bizarre fashion after Daley Blind's misjudged header clear came off Oliver McBurnie and fell just wide of Sergio Romero's right-hand post.
Team news
For Manchester United, only four players remained following the 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield, meaning starts for Axel Tuanzebe and Scott McTominay, as well as Victor Lindelof in defence following his error on Saturday. It was a similar story for Swansea, with only Alfie Mawson, Martin Olsson and Jordan Ayew remaining from the 2-1 defeat by Leicester. Oli McBurnie got a start up front.
Lingard produced another fine finish to make it 2-0 just before the hour mark; after Darmian had been found by Axel Tuanzebe on the right, the Italian's pinpoint cross found the Englishman on the gallop 18 yards out, and he guided a superb header past Nordfeldt into the top left corner.
Tuanzebe should have made it 3-0 after Nordfeldt's unconvincing save from a Chris Smalling header, poking the rebound over the bar from just three yards out on the stretch.
Romelu Lukaku got around 20 minutes as a substitute, but was largely anonymous in the closing stages, as Romero saved from point-blank range from Leroy Fer's far-post effort to keep a clean sheet at the Liberty Stadium.
The managers
Jose Mourinho: Like in the match against Huddersfield, mistakes were part of a global attitude, and today the kids' good performances had consequences, we were solid, compact and in control.
The attitude was really good, I think Romero and Smalling gave us big stability. I'm really happy. It was quite comfortable, no injuries, so a good day for us.
Man of the match - Jesse Lingard
Two very different, but very impressive finishes from Lingard gave United a relatively comfortable win.
Both showed exactly what Lingard can do to the opposition given space, a trait he has shown several times before in a United shirt. There are still question marks over his power and impact on the bigger games, but on Tuesday night he intelligently found pockets of space in between Swansea's midfield and defence.
Manchester United host Tottenham on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Premier League at 12.30pm, while Swansea go to Arsenal on Saturday at 3pm in the Premier League.

Barnsley 2-4 Swansea - Official Highlights and Goals | FA Cup 3rd Round Proper 07-01-12
Winger Nathan Dyer provided the cutting edge as Swansea held off Barnsley to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup.
He set up Angel Rangel for Swansea's first goal and added the third himself after good work from Wayne Routledge.
Barnsley had led after a swift counter finished by Ricardo Vaz Te, who later poked home an inswinging free-kick.
Rangel's equaliser was followed by a sublime long-range Danny Graham shot into the top corner, with the striker adding a late fourth from six yards.
Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers had resisted the urge to make too many changes, but German goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel was given his debut in place of Michel Vorm.
Gary Monk also returned in defence for the on-loan Stephen Caulker, as parent club Tottenham did not want the youngster cup-tied.
Barnsley were able to field their on-loan star Danny Drinkwater, recovered from a thigh strain, and the Manchester United midfielder produced the Tykes' first threat on goal as he drilled a shot just over the bar from a tight angle.
Swansea should probably have been ahead before that and Barnsley were indebted to goalkeeper Luke Steele for two good early saves.
First Steele beat away a fierce 30-yard drive from Kemy Agustien, then was quickly off his line to smother the danger in a one-on-one against Routledge.
But against the run of play, Barnsley took the lead when Routledge lost possession in the Tykes' 18-yard box.
The home side launched a flowing counter-attack up the right and Craig Davies played in Vaz Te on the edge of the area, and the Portuguese struck a rising shot into the top corner of the Swansea net.
Swansea responded in style to level within a minute, as Dyer drove the visitors upfield before teeing up Rangel to slide the ball past Steele.
It took just one minute of the second half for Swansea to break Barnsley's resistance a second time, as Graham received the ball midway in the Yorkshire side's half before turning and unleashing a brilliant 30-yard shot that gave Steele no chance.
Swansea's wing play continued to torment Barnsley, as it had at Aston Villa last week, and the Welsh side's two wing dynamos combined to double their lead.
Routledge broke down the left, beating Stephen Foster before cutting the ball back for the arriving Dyer to blast gleefully home, making amends for ballooning over the bar from a good position moments before.
Swansea's grip on the game continued to strengthen but Barnsley were by no means out of it, with Vaz Te having a couple of half-chances blocked.
The former Bolton Wanderers striker had looked the most likely to double his and his side's goal tally, so it was no surprise when he was the one to get the final touch when Swansea failed to deal with Drinkwater's inswinging free-kick.
Barnsley still had 25 minutes to force a replay and now had their tails up, with Reuben Noble-Lazarus sending Tremmel scrambling across his goal as his shot veered just off target.
Scott Sinclair, on for Dyer, threatened to put the result beyond doubt but Steele did well to reach his shot, although a late off-side flag made the save academic.
With a minute of normal time remaining, Graham finally settled Swansea nerves as the striker added a fourth goal from close range on the left following good work from Routledge and Joe Allen.

Angel Chats To Blaze Bayley At Crowleys Rock Bar Swansea 14/11/2014
I chat to Blaze Bayley about his up and coming show at SOS FESTIVAL 2015 17th - 19th JULY were he will be playing the Silicon Messiah live.
ABOUT
Born in Birmingham, England, Blaze Bayley started his musical career as the lead vocalist of Tamworth heavy metal/hard rock band Wolfsbane, upon their formation in 1984. The first album, Live Fast, Die Fast, was released in 1989. Prior to this they had recorded three demos entitled Wolfsbane (1985), Dancin' Dirty (1987) and Wasted but Dangerous (1988). This last one, recorded at Square Dance Studios, Derby, U.K., illustrates the band in its youngest, rawest state[citation needed]. They were the supporting act for Iron Maiden's UK division of their No Prayer on the Road tour in 1990. Wolfsbane's second release, an EP titled All Hell's Breaking Loose Down at Little Kathy Wilson's Place, was released the same year. The band's second full studio album Down Fall the Good Guys, was released in 1991, giving them their only UK Chart entry with their single Ezy charting at No. 68.
Def American dropped Wolfsbane as they felt that the band were not selling well enough. This did not stop the band from being voted as the UK's best unsigned act in 1993. The same year, the band released a live album, Massive Noise Injection, through the Bronze Company label.
The band released their third studio album, often considered to be the band's best work, the self-titled Wolfsbane, in 1994, again on the Bronze Company label. A limited edition of this album included the EP Everything Else. When Bruce Dickinson departed fellow English heavy metal band Iron Maiden in 1993, Blaze Bayley was chosen between hundreds of auditions. Then Wolfsbane disbanded.
In 2007, Wolfsbane reformed for a one-off performance, with Bayley again taking up vocal and frontman duties. They supported The Wildhearts on a short UK tour in December 2007. Their next tour came in December 2009 supporting The Quireboys on their 'A Little Bit of What You Fancy 20th Anniversary Tour'. Wolfsbane played a headline show at the Borderline in London on 9 April 2011.This was followed by a tour supporting Saxon in April 2011.A new album (Wolfsbane Save the World) followed an Ep called Did it for the money and a successful UK tour in 2011
